RalfKeymasterWhen you create a new profile that way, it won’t have a user name attached, which causes the message you saw. Didn’t consider this case when the profile uploader got some additional safety checks recently. Thanks for the heads-up.
Have to look into that. For the time being you should be able to work around the issue by making a copy of your own profile in the config app while you are logged in and then upload the copied profile. When you copy a profile in the config app, your user name gets attached to the copy and you should be able to upload it.
RalfKeymasterHave to look into that. Normally copying over the profile shouldn‘t make the format options disappear. Can‘t really imagine what might cause this, but I‘ll check it out.
RalfKeymasterTo say it in a less sarcastic way: Z3D like used in RDR2 has inherent artifacts since after shifting pixels from the original 2D image to create the 3D effect empty spaces have to be filled with pixels from nearby. The way vorpX does that IMO is unmatched, but the current max value still causes quite severe glitches already, so going beyond that doesn’t really make sense.
Since in many people’s minds game settings apparently always work in a more-is-better-style, which is definitely not the case here, stuff gets cranked up to the max all the time. Hence there is a maximum that – while already slightly beyond what’s reasonable artifact wise – doesn’t make things look totally out of whack.
Hint: If you happen to have switched to Z-Adaptive, switch back to Z-Normal. Z-Adaptive is great in its own right since it does some auto-focus calculation and gaze sensitize blurring to simulate human vision, but for maximum perceived depth Z-Normal is usually the better choice.
BTW: The current limit already is 50% higher than it was originally.
RalfKeymasterWhile keyboard/mouse mappings can be fully customized, for gamepad mode things are kept a bit more simple on purpose. Since on all controllers all gamepad functions are fully mapped, there isn’t really any need for remapping them. I’d consider the default (DPAD on shift) the logical choice, it has to be somewhere. All buttons are mapped anyway, so while in principle I can understand the whish to customize, in this particular case there really is no need for that.
Please don’t disable automatic settings. Somes games tend to override settings when you change someting in their options menu. With auto settings disabled vorpX won’t be able to catch something like that.
If you think you can figure out something better than vorpX does resolution wise (which is unlikely BTW), disable just setting the resolution, but leave everything else intact. Save yourself the headache of having to solve problems you wouldn’t have when you let vorpX do its thing.
RalfKeymasterJust a heads-up that the update takes a little longer than I had planned originally since I’d like to include profile updates for a couple of games that utilize the new auto weapon hide feature.
Shooting for early next week. Programming wise the feature is in a reasonabe state now for a first release (minus a fleshed out authoring UI which will come a little later), so it’s mainly profile updating and testing for the next few days. Unless I come up with yet another last minute feature idea, not much that can get in the way anymore.
RalfKeymasterYou can change the default vorpX key bindings in the config app under ‘Ingame Key Bindings’ if for one or the other game they clash with some game specific hotkey.
RalfKeymasterJust a headsup that while Far Cry 4 requires 16:9 resolutions to work right, in most other FullVR games that’s a waste of GPU resources.
On a sidenote: Wasn’t there a notification shown by vorpX about 16:9 when you launched the game? There definitely should be one, IIRC in the headset as well as in the top/left corner of the game window.
RalfKeymasterYes, Metro 2033 G3D is DX9 only, I’m pretty sure vorpX sets that automatically. If you accidentally disabled auto settings, please re-enable that. Without it setting the FOV also wont’ work.
Switch the controller type from ‘Auto’ to ‘Oculus Touch’ will do the trick controller wise. vorpX doesn’t have dedicated G2 controller handling, but since they are pretty much Touch knockoffs that works just fine.
RalfKeymasterDidn’t have that annoying MPC key issue on the radar when I replied above… Will be fixed in the next vorpX version. VLC should work though normally. Make sure that its video output is set to DirectX 11. vorpX should take care of that automatically under normal circumstances, but maybe that failed for you (e.g. if you have disabled auto settings).
RalfKeymasterIf you want to use MPC-HC with the desktop viewer instead of with vorpX hooked into MPC, you can simply pause the watcher from the vorpX tray icon‘s right click menu after starting the desktop viewer.
Be aware though that watching videos with the desktop viewer involves two framerate conversions: movie framerate > desktop framerate > headset framerate. Hooked into the player vorpX upsamples directly from the movie framrate to the headset framerate, which typically is a lot better.
RalfKeymasterGreat, at least that way you can continue.
I’d still like to check the savegame to see whether it’s an isolated issue or not. Would be great if you could send it to support |at| vorpx com.
The version can be checked in the config app and in the game window, in both cases it is displayed in the bottom left corner.
RalfKeymasterNormally it should recenter together with the vorpX recenter via ALT+SPACE.

RalfKeymaster@ adzter :
Haven’t checked the game yet, but I will definitely before the next update. Can’t promise anything, but I’m cautiously optimistic.
@ all:
For anyone interested in adding this to their own profiles: authoring the feature will be ridiculously easy. After gaining fairly solid understanding of what works and what doesn’t over the last days, authoring is pretty much pressing a button, waiting a second, and then flipping through usually 1-5 candidates that vorpX figured out to potentially be the weapon. Almost cooler than the feature itself… Provided vorpX found a valid candidate, you then just adjust size and position to your liking and define the keys/buttons that activate the weapon. That’s it. All the rocket science hidden behind a single click. Steve Jobs would have been proud of me. ;)
Can’t promise that I’ll get the authoring UI ready in time for the next release, but at the latest it will come with the one after that.
