Please first reset the profile to default in the config app. Afterwards please restart the game two times. vorpX shows an according message whenever a restart is required. Afterwards the FOV is correct. Don’t change the FOV offset in the vorpX menu. The FOV is calculated to match the FOV of your headset precisely with everything at default.

The official profile has both G3D and Z3D. For switching to G3D change the setting in the vorpX menu, press OK+SAVE and restart the game. There still is the supposed shadow flickering issue though, didn’t have a chance to look into that yet, so Z3D is probably the better choice currently.

vorpX checks for updates automatically when you start it. You can check your current version in the bottom/left corner of the config app as well as in the bottom/left corner of the game window after launching a game with vorpX.

If for some reason the auto update failed, you can either reinstall using the web installer you got after purchase, or get a new one here in case you didn’t keep it.

That doesn’t sound right, you shouldn’t have to touch the FOV again after setting it once, same for the resolution. Might make sense to try disabling cloud saves for the game in Steam, just in case the changes vorpX applies are overwritten. Although normally that should not be necessary.

The only setting you might want to change in the vorpX menu if you want is the resolution for better image quality. Do not choose a resolution manually in the game options, instead do so on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu.

The game has indeed to run in DX11 mode. vorpX should take care of that automatically, but maybe that failed for some reason.

You have to restart the game after setting the FOV to max in the game options. That’s a required step, but for the actual FOV adjustment vorpX sets another .ini value, which only takes effect after a restart. Whenever vorpX changes settings that require a game restat, it shows a notification in the headset.

Should work with BE disabled normally. Only thing I can really imagine apart from that is a conflict with another program on your PC that also hooks into the game. The trouble shooting guide on top of this sub-forum has more details on the matter.

The resolution is really the only way to make it look crisper, it shouldn’t flicker if you set a 4:3 resolution, 1920×1440 for example should look fairly well.

If your PC does not support this resolution, check the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help. It has a step-by-step guide regarding adding custom resolutions. On nVidia GPUs you can pretty much add anything, AMD unfortunately is restricted to max. your monitor resolution.

At least I will take another shot at it. As always, no promises though.

vorpX is ready to hook into games after double clicking the ‘Start vorpX’ shortcut. The desktop viewer isn’t strictly required, the important shortcuts are ‘Start vorpX’ and the config app.

You can find various guides, including a list of games well suited for beginners, in the help that comes with vorpX. The help is either accessible from the config app, the vorpX help start menu shortcut or the right click menu of the vorpX tray icon, from there you can also pause or exit vorpX.

The tray icon might be hidden, you can click the small up arrow near the clock to see hidden tray icons. If you want, you can make the icon visible permanently by dragging it from the hidden icons list to the taskbar. Unfortunately there is no way to do this automatically, Microsoft insists that it’s obvious enough to users how to do it…

Thanks for the heads-up (and sorry for the glitch). I have that already on the list for the next update, probably a side effect of the new keyboard handling. Haven’t looked into it yet, but shouldn’t be too hard to fix. For the time being using any keyboard key instead should work.

I am aware that there are user profiles for both games, but they are not officially supported. Everything you see in the profile cloud that doesn’t end with [vorpX] is a user profile. Can’t say much to that unfortunately. However, I was made aware recently of some older OpenGL user profiles not working right anymore. Since both games use OpenGL they are affected probably. Will be looked into.

As far as Half-Life is concerned I’d highly suggest Black Mesa: Source on Steam instead, which works great with vorpX. Just in case you never heard of it before: Black Mesa: Source is a remake of the original Half-Life with more modern graphics. Caveat: It has to be the Steam version, there also is a fairly old free version, but that is not supported by vorpX.

Apart from that: take a peek at the Good Full VR Games for Beginners list. Those are known to work great with minimal fuzz.

BTW: You don’t need to download official profiles usually, vorpX already comes with all official profiles that are available.

That sounds as if everything is alright. vorpX should be ready to hook into games you launch unless there is some conflict that prevents it from doing so.

To double check open your task manager and go to the ‘Details’ tab, there should be two processes: ‘vorpControl.exe’ and ‘vorpControl64.dat’. If both are running, all should be well.

The ‘V’ icon might just be hidden, you can click the small up arrow near the clock to see hidden tray icons. If you want, you can make the icon visible permanently by dragging it from the hidden icons list to the taskbar. Unfortunately there is no way to do this automatically, Microsoft insists that it’s obvious enough to users…

Try to uninstall your AV software for testing purposes. Some more invasive ones make it fairly difficult for their users to fully disable them unless they are removed.

BTW: There is no real need for third party AV on Windows 10. It comes with Windows Defender, which kicks in automatically when you remove third party AV. Windows Defender is more than good enough for several years now.
