vorpX works with any SteamVR headset. Provided Samsung doesn’t mess up their SteamVR driver, which I would consider quite unlikely, vorpX *should* work fine with it.

As a (rather crude and far from ideal) workaround for games that can’t be hooked at all you can use the vorpX desktop viewer in the way described below. Be aware though that this won’t enable 3D, for any kind of stereo 3D vorpX needs to actually hook into a game.

    1. Launch the vorpX Desktop Viewer
    2. Pause the watcher (tray icon context menu) to disable game hooking
    3. Start the game windowed or borderless windowed if possible. Not! fullscreen.
    4. Adjust vorpX settings (FullVR/cinema, headtracking) in a way that suits the game.

Note that any vorpX settings you change aren’t saved for the actual game, but for the desktop viewer this way.

I’ll check the landmark edition before the next update. Since it’s based on Unity 5 I’m cautiously optimistic, but as always there are of course no guarantees.

Visual glitches are a pretty subjective matter. There is a halo (a few pixels wide) around the hand/weapon that certainly isn’t game breaking. I would argue that it doesn’t really distract from the game unless you want it to distract you. Some however apparently concentrate more on glitches than on playing the actual game and thus are distracted more easily by any potential glitch, of course.

I was just assuming it would be included. Bought the game before the landmark edition and got it for free when it was released, so I assumed you would also get both when you buy the LE now.

Isn’t the Source engine version included when you purchase the landmark edition? That definitely was the case the other way around.

Let me know if not. In that case I’ll take a look at the landmark edition. The game is quite nice in VR.

The issue almost certainly is Bit Defender. Excluding the vorpX program folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX) should work normally, but if it doesn’t, try to uninstall Bit Defender for testing purposes to check whether it’s the culprit. Some scanners don’t really allow their users to fully disable them despite telling the opposite.

In general I would recommend to switch to Windows Defender. It’s quite good these days while being far less invasive than some other scanners that take a more aggressive approach.

BTW: The original DX9 Skyrim is the better choice for vorpX unless you use a huge of huge amount of mods and/or hi-res textures that require the additional memory being available because of the SE’s 64bit .exe.

That is definitely not how it’s supposed to be. Mass Effect 2/3 should work just fine, including the videos.

One thing you could try is resetting your graphics driver settings to default in the driver’s control panel. With some Unreal Engine games there is a huge framerate drop with forced antialiasing, maybe that’s the issue here. Just a guess, but worth a try.

While that probably isn’t fully what you hope for, vorpX will be able to show most pre DX9 games in the headset using the dgVoodoo2 wrapper with the next version.

Huge caveat: no stereo 3D yet! I’m unsure, whether that will be possible at all, but it will looked into when there is a bit more time.

I can’t really say anything more concrete before I actually have a device, sorry guys.

Make sure to use either the Steam or the GOG version of the game. Direct VR is partially version dependent for Q3 engine games. Old CD versions may not work.

Making things easier and better understandable for new/casual users is indeed the main focus of this release when it comes to the main features, but a lot of the smaller improvements/fixes are useful for everyone.

There also will be new profiles, so long time users will have something new to play with too. I just don’t know yet how much time will be available for that in the end, so I can’t say how many.

@ nieda: If you enabled the experimental positional Direct VR in Skyrim (which is disabled per default) please disable it again. The default Rotation/FOV Direct VR should not cause any flickering, but the experimental positional Direct VR may.

Normal positional tracking is still available without positional Direct VR, of course. So you don’t lose much.

There probably isn’t much of a difference performance wise.

If the internal resolution scaler is available for a game, you can safely use that normally as it is more convenient. On the other hand the internal scaling introduces a certain risk of visual glitches, so it might make sense to try without it in case of any anomalies.
