RalfKeymasterOpen the ingame menu with [DEL] and then navigate to the “Display” page (the third I think). There it’s the first or second entry.
RalfKeymasterMulti-monitor support for the desktop viewer is on the nice-to-have list, but I can’t give you a date for that yet. Sorry.
BTW: Got rid of all multi monitor hassle myself a year ago with an ultra wide monitor. Much, much better. Doesn’t help you right now with vorpX, but for your next rig I can highly recommend that.
RalfKeymasterFOV (“zoomed in”):
Please read the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help. Among other important information there you find all possible options that vorpX provides to deal with this. What can be exactly, depends on the game.
Mirror:
The ingame menu has an option called “Direct Mode Show Original” on the display page. If you run games windowed, you get another option called “Direct Mode Show Mirror Window”, which displays the output like seen in the headset.
RalfKeymasterThere are quite a few artifacts regarding shadows and lighting. Not really fixable without completely disabling the according shaders which makes the games quite ugly.
Unfortunately this gets more and more of an issue with newer deferred renderers that apply lighting (and more) in a second (2D) pass. 3D tech should have stopped at the level of DX9 engines a few years ago for injected 3D. ;) Z3D highly recommended for this one. Personally I played most of the game in 2D/Virtual Cinema.
RalfKeymasterThe game has both 3D methods in vorpX (fast Z3D, and more natural but slower G3D), full head tracking and – while still looking quite awesome – due to its age is fast enough to reach full 75fps in G3D without issues on a normal gaming PC. So all in all it’s a pretty good fit for VR.
RalfKeymasterMulti monitor support for the desktop viewer is on the nice-to-have-list, but not scheduled yet.
RalfKeymasterI’m still unable to replicate this unfortunately (also an nVidia machine). Neither with System Shock 2 (all three versions mentioned above) nor with one of the Thief games (GOG versions), using the latest public version of vorpX.
Could you try to reset your graphics driver 3D settings to default in the nVidia control panel? Just in case it’s related to forced AA or any other forced driver setting. In some cases those can make a difference. AA worked here though, but maybe it’s something else.
RalfKeymasterDid you check your spam folder? Anyways: please first try to run vorpX as admin. Should be avoided normally, but may help – for example if you are running Steam or your games as admin for some reason. In such a case vorpX would also require admin rights to hook into the games. There is an option to do this in the vorpX config app.
If that does not help and multiple games are not hooking in a similar manner, there indeed probably is a program on your PC that creates a conflict with vorpX by also hooking into games. Quite a few programs do this, not all are obvious. This may be a virus scanner, a graphics driver add-on (e.g. MSI Afterburner), a CPU tweaking utility, a chat program that can display notifications in games, a video streaming/recording program etc.
The trouble shooting guide in the help lists a few things to look out for. To be sure ideally disable/uninstall all background programs that wouldn’t be running on a fresh, unaltered Windows install.
RalfKeymasterDid you read the FAQ sticky above? Please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymasterTe most important thing that the Optimizer does in most cases is setting the field of view. If this can be done with the Optimizer, it also can be done by manual .ini edits. Googling for “FOV YourGame” often brings up short tutorials.
Please also make sure to read the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help. Among other important infos there you find all possible workarounds that vorpX provides for games that do not allow to adjust the FOV.

The failing Optimizer is VERY strange though. vorpX uses system defined paths to your user directory to locate config files. If that fails for multiple or all programs, something is severely wrong. Please double and triple check that you really do not have a different admin user and also run vorpX both as admin and not as admin. There aren’t many thinkable reasons for these system paths to be invalid other than issues with the user account.
Also make sure that vorpX does not run inside any kind of sandbox. Some “security” software might do such things without you knowing it.
RalfKeymasterJust in case: if for some reason you are using multiple accounts on your PC, please make sure to install and run vorpX (and the config util) with the same user account that you use for the games, otherwise the Game Optimizer may be abke to find user specific game config files.
This can be a problem if you have a different admin account for example. In such a case make sure to install vorpX for your normal user and do not run vorpX as admin afterwards. To install vorpX for your normal user you will have to give this user admin rights during the installation.
RalfKeymasterReinstalling resets all profiles to default.
To be extra sure you can try to delete the C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Animation Labs\vorpX folder manually before uninstalling, which will remove all profiles, including those that might have been created for unsupported games.
If the issue still appears afterwards, it’s definitely not related to the mirror window functionality.
RalfKeymasterConfirmed. Apparently a recent WOW patch introduced some changes that vorpX does not like, will be looked into for the next vorpX version. Thanks for letting us know.
RalfKeymasterYou can reset game profiles to their default values in the config app (trouble shooting page). This should also reset the mirroring setting.
