RalfKeymasterIf the auto update doesn’t kick in for some reason, you can always use your web installer to install the latest version that is available.
RalfKeymaster@ rossi: I apologize that you have to wait a few more days. Thanks again for your amazing patience.
Status update from two days sgo:
RalfKeymasterPlease send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymaster
RalfKeymasterYes, only games that allow to scale the HUD will have the option to 3D depth to it. There (obviously :) ) is no way to do this if vorpX can’t access the HUD separetely.
RalfKeymasterThis only works in G3D games that allow to separate the HUD programmatically. Half-Life 2 (and thus Black Mesa) do not have HUD separation for now unfortunately.
RalfKeymasterDid you follow the hints on startup in regard to setting the FOV to 120°. This is extremely important! Correctly set up, Skyrim is one the games that are pretty close to a native experience.
RalfKeymasterDoesn’t F1 2014 work in unsupported mode? Normally it should work just fine with most VR related functionality fully intact, just without 3D. A profile including 3D for the game will be available in the next vorpX update.
Head tracking wise you have two options (like in all Codemasters games):
A. Using OpenTrack for TrackIR emulation.
B. Emulate a gamepad axis with the head tracker:
1. Press [DEL] to open the in-game menu
2. Go to Input page
3. Set ‘Handle Gamepads Internally’ to Off
4. Set ‘Headtracking as Gamepad’ to Relative or Absolute depending on the game. You should get a grasp of what is better quickly.
5. Map the emulated ‘gamepad’ to the look around functions in the game you want to play. Do not leave this step out, it’s vital! Now you are able to look around in your cockpit. The view has to be centered from time to time because of possible yaw drift (should be greatly reduced with an calibrated magnetometer). There is a shortcut for centering.
RalfKeymasterYou can activate vorpX on two PCs with the restriction that both machines have to be yours. Reactivations on the same PC are handled in a sensible manner. No need to worry.
RalfKeymasterIf you followed both the DK2 setup guide and the trouble shooting guide from the help, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com for some individual trouble shooting.
RalfKeymasterStatus update: programming work is done, still fine tuning a few added game profiles and game optimizer entries to give you more new stuff for christmas.
RalfKeymasterPlease send a mail to support |at| vorpx com to receive a downgrade option that will probably work better with your DK1. For unknown reasons the current version apparently does not work with some DK1s.
RalfKeymasterOpenGL *might* (not will) be an option in the future, but due to the small number of games that use OpenGL it’s not a top priority currently.
RalfKeymasterThe last estimate was too optimistic again due to two nasty bugs that for found after that. Both are fixed now, so you won’t have to wait long anymore.
New target is this weekend, and this one will be met 100%.
Provided internet access for vorpX isn’t blocked, your vorpX will automatically update on start as soon as a new version is on the server. You can’t miss it.
RalfKeymasterAll I can say to this is the same that I said twice before, sorry:
Unfortunately Oculus changed the location where the version info is stored with the 0.4.3 runtime, so the version check done by the vorpX installer fails in some cases currently, leading to an older runtime being installed although it shouldn’t.
This will work again as intended soon!
If you don’t absolutely need 0.4.4 for something else, the runtime that is installed by vorpX is the best one BTW, since it’s the version vorpX was compiled against.
