Hi ppl !
I am a -less than 12 hours- frustrated owner of this software.
I am a flight simmer and the idea was to get control over the stereoscopic rendering (disabling it) so I get the best frame rate.
All tests in Windows 7 and fresh Win10 installations.
– FSX (steam edition): really bad quality, choppy and crashes from time to time. Only DirectX9 (BAD).
– Prepar3d v3: No luck whatsoever. Only shows airplane preselector.
– DCS1.5 : Ha !!!!! Not even close
– DCS2.0.3 : See above.
Please, if anyone can provide any tips (and prove me a moaning old fart) I will be delighted.
I honestly am just about from uninstalling and forgetting the 37 euros (total waste for me).
Thanks in advance.
PS. I did send an e-mail to the authors requesting a trial before buying but had no luck. Maybe they should think seriously about it.
I was having an issue with profile settings not saving and discovered it was because I had the shortcut to launch vorpX set to “Run as administrator”.
This is not the same as “Run vorpX Control as administrator” under the programs general configuration page.
Right now I don’t really have a clear idea about how these games work, but that sounds interesting. I’ll check out Resident Evil 5, and if aiming with the controllers is straight forward to implement, I will definitely consider it. Probably not for the next update, but after that.
The FOVE will likely work out of the box. If I understand it correctly, it works with SteamVR, so it should work with the vorpX configuration for Vive similar to other headsets that use SteamVR.
All headset specific parameters that are used by vorpX like screen resolution for example are read from the runtime, so provided the FOVE sends the right values through the runtime (which almost certainly it does), it should just work.
Whether vorpX may be able to utilize eye tracking in any way remains to be seen. One potential use would be controlling some parameters of the adaptive Z3D algorithm, but that’s just an idea, nothing more.
Do you know resident evil 5 because of his static shooting system and has also a cursor aim mode for PC would be perfect 3rd person for be experience.Do you think you can create something for this game? Or arcade shooters like time crisis or house of the deadBut re5 is a better game imo. At least making possible to aim with the controllers on the screen calibrating them would be greatAlso do you know if you play in controller option on mode b and a you have one camera controller by one of the sticks like it’s your head moving tracking and mapping system . So if you do certain movements it does certain mapped actions on keyboard or controller could allow us to give us more freedom with the games we like. Also we could share this settings. I would love if you consider my idea
Okay, maybe it’s just because I don’t know much about configuring VorpX, but how would I go about setting up XBox controller bindings that match the default XBox bindings when not using VorpX?
It’s absolutely killing me using VorpX changes the buttons for map travel, and it is a lot slower to navigate the menus without LT/RT.
Looks absolutely amazing though :) Really nice experience!
As you guessed there corrently is no answer to that question besides “when it’s done”. As soon as I have a pair of Touch controllers here, this will be looked into.
Looks great, thanks!
My only other question now is, why is my movement so slow when using a gamepad/ left thumbstick? I guess I need to somehow map the ‘run’ option to the pad using the Vorpx mapping function?
movement with WASD is normally fast, but I’d prefer to play standing up and turning my head/body to change direction.
It’s because with vorpx running, the controller is emulating the keyboard, and autorun is not enabled by default. Just hit whatever key you have mapped to autorun, I think it’s caps lock.
I agree that it’s not ideal with the Vive controllers, clearly a matter of taste, or maybe just a matter of getting used to the touchpads. But it probably will work fairly well with Oculus Touch. I don’t have a pair yet, but these should be able to mimic a gamepad control scheme fairly well.
yea the touch layout would definitely be more ideal for gamepad mimicing
Thanks for the reply Raif.
I do not expect roomscale support for the games. I’ll be pretty happy to play with my xbox controller as its good to know that Vorpx is optimized for the Vive headset as much as it is for the Rift.
Also, I hope this guide for Skyrim vorpx setup for the rift would work well for the Vive too- http://riftinfo.com/best-oculus-rift-skyrim-setup-you-will-find
I’m not quite sure how reliable the Steam survey numbers are as a VR market share indicator, since obviously Oculus users will play many made-for-vr-games through Oculus Home, but Vive and Oculus are treated equally in terms of development time spent on them.
vorpX is built in a way that most things being worked on work for all headsets automatically. There is no difference in terms of game support for example. A game profile always works for both Oculus and Vive in the same way. For the things that require vendor specific work (like controller support for example) both headsets are treated the same.
Vive controller support will be added with the next update in the sense that you will be able to map a game’s control scheme to the controllers. There are also some ongoing experiments with gesture based movement, but I’m not sure yet whether these experiments will make it into any final release.

Great. Yes auto-switching sounds like a disaster waiting to happen especially with high frequency switching near the critical point (need like a digital PID regulator or something). Switching rapidly from Z3D to G3D would probably make you sick and dizzy since they look pretty different.
Anyway a simple key shortcut gives the user control and is a very simple concept and seems like a dead easy thing to implement. Could you make the specific key customize-able? That way anyone can just chose any key they please to avoid conflict. Of course you can always shift around your skyrim keys too in the options.
Just another great reason to look forward to the next exciting VorpX update :D
Wow, even at the “preliminary” stage this profile is pretty amazing. Much better than what I concocted off of the Fallout 4 one.
Is there any way to get the left analog stick on the controller to still act as a joystick instead of a binary move? Maybe I need to play around with the Partial controller override.
Fantastic work Ralf! Thank you!
