Don’t know if I should have put this in the Games Wish List, so I’ll make it a separate topic just in case.
The original post was this…
I know this isn’t a game… but it’s a “Wish” nonetheless…
I found a stereoscopic video player that I’m hoping something can be done to make it work like the VLC Media Player profile.
The player had support for the old Oculus Rift. Supposedly after you load a “left” and “right” video file, (same file for both) you can choose “Oculus Rift” as a Viewing Method… but it doesn’t activate the Rift S! All it does is split the signal into two lens sized videos playing side by side in a window on the monitor. It’s simply called Stereoscopic Player.
URL for it is: http://www.3dtv.at/Downloads/Index_en.aspx
I tried to clone the VLC profile already in the list and replaced the EXE for the player, but it wouldn’t work.
Hi for me the inventory menu in witcher 3 freezes, when i move my head. No freezes without vorpx. I use Valve Index, steamvr, vorpx, witcher 3.

Ok, so I found how to make it work. In steamvr menu you have to go to the control options and add a new controller layout instead the standard controls, choose cybershoes instead of vive/oculus/index controllers, then create a new layout, select trackpad default (it worked for me), work as trackpad, then on click select lbuttonpad0, on touch select ltouchpad0, and on position select laxispad0. I tested with Metro 2033 Redux and worked great, it was a bit too fast so I’ll have to play with the usb emitter speed controls.
For this to work the vive/oculus/index left controller must be on, so I wonder if there’s any way to hide controllers visually but still be active on vorpx, since I want to use an xbox controller, which works fine with this setup.
Dear Ralf,
Rocket League has been updated to use Direct X 11 a few weeks ago and since then I can only manage to hook the game when i add -dx9 in the RL startup parameters :( Every time I try to start without -dx9 the game starts but my Valve index remains in SteamVr Home and on the desktop there are two “Attaching to Rocket League” windows on top of each other. I tried to block game overlays and use alternative hooking method as well as official profile but unfortunately without luck! Do you have an idea what the problem could be ? Thank you very much, keep up the excellent work, Vorpx is fantastic! Greetings, Martin.
How does it work on my index, rift-s and hp reverb not yours also did you try the other user’s RE3 profile on the cloud ?
I play on the Valve Index. But it does’t matter.
All other games work for me in geometry 3D, if it’s supported.
Rendering Mode – normal
Game launched in DX11
60 frames
The image in the right eye does’t work correctly. This effect is observed in all games on RE Engine in 3D without correction. I know this from experience using 3D VISION
It works fine on my oculus, index and Hp Reverb it renders in 3D just like Resident Evil 2 true 3D. I just played 20 minutes or so and I’m at the part where you open the first safe for the scope.
I’m using NVidia 445.78 drivers.
My settings in are
RenderMode Normal
Refresh Rate 59.94
Frame Rate 60
Resolution which works the best is 1920 x 1080
Hi for me the bug with the inventory menu persists. I use Valve Index, steamvr, vorpx, witcher 3.
I came here also to get help for Titanfall 2. I was trying to get RE2 to play using VorpX, and it took a lot of work over several days but I finally got it (only hooked “sometimes”) and the results were terrible. I eventually gave up. I read one of the official threads recommending Titanfall 2 as one of the best VorpX games. So I got the game just to use with VorpX.
It looks TERRIBLE. I couldn’t stand it for more than 30 seconds. It hooks fine “sometimes”, but the imagine is very low res and grainy, the 3d is… I dunno, just really strange, a bit distorted. It’s also very dark (it was before I went in and made the settings very bright, but I think it wasn’t really natural). So I think sometimes gotta be wrong. First Resident Evil 2, and now this which is supposed to be great.
What am I missing? I used the default VorpX profile for both btw.
Edit: Just some specs. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X. Windows 10 Ent. 16GB Ram. RTX 2080SUPER. Valve Index. Up till now, I can run everything in full settings at 4k, and all VR games (native) at full res with high frame rates (currently playing Alyx at highest settings).
Ars has a decent vr hw guide: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/03/the-ultimate-half-life-vr-hardware-guide-from-frugal-to-fantastic/
I’ve been using an Odyssey+ and my only complaint is the WMR portal is stupid and annoying. If I had to pick something new and money was no object, it’d be the Index, mostly because it has the least amount of overhead required to use (you need steamvr to use just about any vr program these days anyway).
Hi, I´d like to buy some VR headset, but I´m not sure, which one. For now let say, that I don´t care about the price. What should I like to do: of course, play games for VR, but as well (and even more) – I´d like to play PC games (not just downloaded from Steam, but all of the games I have). If I do understand correctly, vorpx is able to play all of the mentioned games (doesn´t matter, if they are from Steam), right?
So: which headset should I buy? I´m thinking about: Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive Pro, Htc vive pro Eye, HTC Cosmos Elite, Valve Index. Nevertheless I´m open to all of your reccomendations :)
Thank you!
3 hours in, I think its a good game that could be made great through fixes to the controls. It just doesn’t control the way i want it to. It feels cumbersome to play. The literal pace is too slow. No sprinting and lack of point to recenter is a bummer. They should’ve taken notes from Pavlov. Motion is much more fluid in Pavlov.
On the Index controller the turn on the joystick is too close to the teleport button. So you end up teleporting when all you wanted to do was quick turn. Its very frustrating.
All these things are fixable.
I just tried to rotate video in VLC (tools-effect-video effect-geometry), with
rotation checked, when vorpex attached, vlc become so unstable and crash 9 out of 10 times it is opened, the one time it works, video in neither headset or desktop is rotated), afterwards, even when vorpex no longer attached, it unable to do rotation and i have to delete all the preference before it works again (without vorpx attached)
running latest windows 10 64 bit, with mpc and vlc both 64 bits latest version (tried vlc 32 bits as well and same crash)
hardware is valve index, 2080super, i7
I’m so glad you posted this ralf. I have play 2 or 3 hours so far of Alyx and have enjoyed it mostly. I started out playing on a brand new Index that I was lucky enough to pick up when it went on sale last time, but I really hate the controllers. I really don’t like how to grab and crush things with force, I really prefer the Oculus Touch controller and their grab button. I also hate the touch pad area on the Index Controllers for switching weapons (well I guess its alright).
I rebuilt a PC just for this release and ran into all sorts of issues and I’m a super computer nerd with over 40 computers in my house (3 VR stations even). After having issues with Oculus Home loading up because of HMD not detected, I uninstalled Oculus software and reinstalled everything (took like 12 hours). Played 1 hour with the Index and then switched to the Rift-S. The visuals are truely amazing and the best that I have ever seen, but looks is not everything as I still play old 1980’s arcade games :)
I too have thought that I really did prefer VorpX games like Half-Life 2, Black Mesa (awesome), Bioshock, Borderlands, etc. I like to sit down on a swivel chair and it just works sooo well now.
Thanks Ralf for your incredible product and can’t wait for the next release. Hope that Doom Eternal could be possible at some point in the future.
