    Hi,

Is it possible to make compatible Oculus Touch & Index controllers for World of Warcraft ?

Play this game in VR is a dream really but VorpX is useless for game if it’s for play with the keyboard and the mouse.

I’m not talking of full 100% compatible but just for the buttons & joysticks of controllers.

Thank you if you have the information

    Hi,

I had been annoyed with the YouTube videos claiming to show how to run the “F1 2019” game in VR using Vorpx and Opentrack, having tried to follow their instructions I realised where they had gone wrong.

Sorry if someone has already shown how to do this correctly but I couldn’t find instructions anywhere that actually worked correctly.

The following method works well for me (unlike the various click-bate YouTube videos) this results in a pretty good experience. The YouTuber versions end up with you looking either looking at a great big VR cinema type screen or where the head tracking either doesn’t work or is terrible.

This method works (its not perfect but it is comfortable and very playable):

    VORPX:
From VorpX config go to the “Cloud Profile” tab, search for “F1 2019” and download the cloud file for the game, at the time of writing there is only one file available “F1 2019 BY DONPRIMILLO”- Many thanks to whomever created this file.
Next go to the vorpx config “General tab” and uncheck “Head tracking” and “head tracking roll”
Save and Close Vorpx config but leave the main vorpx program running

    OPENTRACK
Download “OpenTrack” from Github – https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases
Run the “opentrack” .exe program (please note that these instruction are for the Valve Index and steamVR but I expect they will work for anyone using SteamVR).
From the main screen choose the following settings:
    Input – select “Valve SteamVR”
Output – select “Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced”
Filter – Delete the filter option (no selection needed)
    Click on the options button:
“Shortcuts” tab – select “Bind recenter” and choose a shortcut key, I used “Z” but whatever works for you
“Output” tab – select “Pitch” and choose Pitch, Select “Yaw” and choose yaw, select “roll” and choose roll.
    Click “OK”
    Now close the Opentrack program
You have to close the opentrack software or (at least in my case) SteamVR will not launch if opentrack is running.

    Steam:
    Launch Steam
Got to the “Library” tab and launch the “F1 2019” game, it is important to select the DirectX 11 version only (this should flash up in a windows), note I don’t think VorpX works with DX12.

VorpX should flash up a dialogue window and also should launch SteamVR.
Once Vorpx, SteamVR and the “F1 2019” game have all launch correctly and you can see the “F1 2019” game running in the HMD (Valve Index in m case) you press the windows key on your keyboard and then navigate to and launch the “Opentrack” software.

    Opentrack
Click on the the “Start” button and return to the “F1 2019” Game by click on the icon in the bottom of the screen to make the game the focus.

    F1 2019 game:
You now need to change the game settings – Within the setting section you need to set the following:
    Game options
    Setting
    Camera options:
    Camera select – Cockpit
Field of view – 1.0 (maximum available)
    Camera shake – 0
    Camera movement – 0
    Look to apex – 0
Head tracking with TrackIR – “On” (this is the most important part as this allows the game to see the opentrack output – all of the YouTube videos go wrong with this step)
    Save these setting

    Put on your HMD
Press the “Delete” key on the keyboard which should launch the VorpX menu within the HMD screen and choose the following settings:
    Got to “Main Setting” tab
Play style – “Full VR mode”
    3D Reconstruction – “Z-adaptive”
    Head tracking sensativity – 1.50
Save and exit the Vorpx VR menu

You are you finished, start a race and hopefully this method will work as well for you as it does for me.

I have noticed that playing around with the resolution can make a big difference so you might want to find what works best for you.

Lots of steps but I hope this is helpful to someone…..

I have both the index and now the rift S. When I try the rift s in both oculus mode and steamvr mode the performance is very bad. I have tried disabling ASW via the debug tool, turning off async render, turning back on. On the index though everything is buttery smooth at 120fps. I am not sure if you have a rift s to test ralf but it’s not running very well.

With the index though it’s very good albeit I still have the weird bug where I can to turn vorpx’s async render ON then back OFF again to get the native 120fps, or else it caps at like 60.

OK, I just got Elder scrolls online working with Vorpx

1st impressions? not good. Not good by a mile.

Is Vorpx and the Valve Index not compatible?

When no mater what settings I use either in Vorpx or in game, it just looks bad.

Could someone please tell me they can even get the game to run in VR mode and be able to see the whole screen.
The only way I can see the in game game menu is if I switch out of VR and go to theater or the other mode, otherwise I can’t see that far to the left.

Here is what I have tried
played with the resolution in game
played with the steamvr settings for this game
played with the FOV (both game and Vorpx)
    Played with the zoom.

Nothing helps. it looks bad as well as i cant see the whole screen.

I’ve just bought this game on the Humble Store for the $1 Tier.
    https://www.humblebundle.com/games/bohemia-interactive-2019-bundle?hmb_source=navbar&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=tile_index_1

Talk about crazy timing or what!!!!!!!

Looking forward to testing it out with vorpX.

I wonder if “Take On Helicopters” also works (same game engine?), as that was also included in the Tier 1 the bundle.

    Hi :)

Today I wanted to go back and try Metro 2033 on the index, after I have tried a few games with vorpx and got very good results.
But it runs very poorly, like 20-30 fps… The screen moves really funky.
The hud is too much on the right side, I can´t nearly see it and the menu for choosing gear or weapons is right in my face and I can´t adjust it in the vorpx menu.
Before this test I played it on a Rift cv1 and had no problems.

    Just an update:

Its now working even better with the Valve Index (I guess Vive Pro too). I play it in VR only. Yet VR means: you do feel more lonely and abandoned on this empty planet…

There is still a small community keeping it alive with a recently created huge user-made campaign and a recent realism overhaul mod (very nice!, see steam workshop).

    Bare in mind:
    – It uses directx9, meaning its not working with oculus since oculus does not support it anymore.
    – The game is very special and not everyone taste. But I really like it. Its a “Mark Watney survives on Mars” simulation with realistic but sometimes clunky mechanics.
    – It requires time to learn the controls/ the concept before you should use it in vorpx

Is there any reason that VorpX couldn’t be compatible with Natural Locomotion? The program maps arm swinging onto joystick controls, which would be really nice for vorpx and free up some inputs on vive wands and other controllers.

Also, has anyone figured out a way to play any games by only using the buttons and inputs on index controllers?

Problem solved. After I finally reinstalled my OS everything works nice and as expected. Must have been an OS or treiber / dll problem.

With realism overhaul and the Valve Index Take on Mars is just beautiful.

I can answer the first two:

    1. SteamVR is the right choice for an Index. Incidentally Index controller support was added just yesterday, so you are all set with the latest vorpX version.

    2. Will be looked into, but as always no promises.

    Hi all :)

I had a few questions and didnt want to make too many posts, so i just combined it into one.. Hope thats okay? :)

1 : First off, I went from a Rift cv1 to a Index. To make the Index run Vorpx, should I just choose Steam vr headsets in the config vorpx options?? Or should I wait for an Vorpx update, so its full supported??

2 : The Master Chief Collection is coming this year to pc. It would be amazing to play all the games in vr. But I can´t figure out what engine that game uses. Any chance you guys think it could get supported bt Vorpx??

3 : I have looked at a game called Nightmare Reaper, its a retro fps. Its made in the new Unreal engine. Has anyone tried to make it work with Vorpx?

4 : I have also looked at the game Ion Fury/Ion Maiden. Its an Build engine game. Has anyone made that game run in Vorpx??

New setup is online. Vive (also Index) triggers should behave like before now.

    vorpX 19.2.2 has been released.

This is a maintenance release, it’s most important change is support for Index and Windows Mixed Reality controllers, including full keyboard/gamepad mapping ingame visualization and (alternatively) animated hands.

    • SteamVR input redone. Now uses the (not so) new VRInput() system.
    • Valve Index controller support
    • Windows Mixed Reality controller support
    • Oculus Touch support in SteamVR mode
    • Fallout 76 Geometry 3D fixed (was broken with latest game version).
    • Correct hand/weapon scale for Skyrim/Skyrim SE
    • Positional tracking improvements
    • Unity 5 base profile fixed.
    • OpenVR (SteamVR) library updated to 1.4.18
    • Various minor fixes and improvements.

Damn, then it looks like i have to try myself a Rift S again, this time with a RTX 2070 Super, and hope that i can tease more detail out of this HMD.

I’m frankly tired of waiting for the Index or Reverb. :)
