Yes please! I just purchased VorpX specifically with the hopes of playing this game in G3D on my Index. I haven’t used VorpX before and now I’m trying to learn the whole program from the ground up just to play this game. Anyone that can help, please do!
I believe the engine is Unreal 4. I saw in a YT video to try using Jedi Fallen order or Abzu when creating a new profile. But no matter what I’ve tried I can’t even get it to hook. If anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. <3
And by the way this game is pure art, it’s so amazingly gorgeous to look at and is atmospheric as HELL – it would be such an incredible experience in VR! You should check it out if you like HR Giger, atmospheric dark fantasy, Myst-like environmental puzzles, and ambient music. Help me live my fantasy of being on an alien planet in VR :D
Don’t use SteamVR for Oculus/Meta headsets. There should be a warning message about that when you launch the game with this configuration. SteamVR should not be running at all, it only makes sense for native SteamVR headsets like Vive or Index.
You can switch to the Oculus runtime in the mod’s config tool.
Not exactly sure why you are experiencing that, Index behaves very stable at uneven franerate ratios under normal circumstances. Try to reset all SteamVR settings to default and do a factory reset for vorpX. If the issue still occurs afterwards, capping the franmerate to exactly half the headset refresh rate in the vorpX menu instead of using an uneven/fluctuating ratio might be worth a shot.
My refresh rate on my Index HMD is set to 80hz, and according to VorpX, when my game FPS is 60-70 the game seems excessively unsmooth until I’m at about 75 or more game FPS. This isn’t regarding any particular game but all the games I have tried.
So I played the same game again after setting my HMD refresh rate to 144hz, and then even when my game FPS was 80 or more, it was much less smooth compared to playing with the refresh rate at 80hz and the game FPS being close to 80 FPS.
So it seems VorpX requires the game FPS to match or exceed your refresh rate in order to be smooth? I was thinking having the game FPS half of the refresh rate was sufficient for smoothness? This makes me wish I could lower my Index refresh rate to 60.
Sounds as if maybe the alternate frame 3d method used by the standalone mod per default isn’t for you. You can switch to Z3D in the menu. May also make sense to set a FPS cap in the menu in case the GPU utilization is too high. Controller input is considered in the AFR frame interplolation, but that might fail if there isn’t enough performance headroom for the headset to run fully smooth.
If you tinkered with the headset sync settings, reinstall the mod to reset everything to default. Index works stable with the settings the mod chooses per default for it under normal circumstances.
Thanks, appreciate the reply. If this is simply a case of AFR then I’m impressed anyone can deal with, it physically hurts the eyes. I have re-installed the mod now and will try one more time and try your setting recommendations. Perhaps my 1080 ti doesn’t have the headroom anymore but I am playing the game on all low settings and 1600×1200.

I doubt this Stanley guy ever resolved his issue? I’m having it and I don’t think anyone else here seems to be understanding it? I’m using a gamepad, alt-F fps/refresh rate is 75-90 / second number is 90 just like my HMD is set to. Valve Index and using a wireless xbox 360 gamepad controller. Looking around and moving forward is fine but the moment I smooth turn with the stick left/right all hell breaks loose, it’s like it loses 3d randomly with certain frames and going close up to certain characters and during melee combat it loses randomly 3d and gets really disorienting, so something is wrong because I have some fantastic VR legs and that’s not playable by any standard.
Ive noticed this with quest 2 too – on index I can switch refresh rate to anything and it reports correctly, on quest 2 vorpx shows 90fps max even when oculus app reports its at 120hz and I dont use vr desktop. I assumed oculus are being dishonest rather than it being a problem with vorpx since index has no issue like that.
If anything fails, you may try the DX11 profiles from this list.https://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/index.php?selengine=Special
Each of them is different and has different 3D settings. You may be lucky trying some profiles from here
Thanks for the reply RJK, as it happens I have that page up in my browser, tried a few, will try some more!
Thanks again ;)

im in the process of installing vorpx and running it. after install and registering the product im struggling to launch vorpx, when i have windows anti-virus and anti-ransomware running vorpx wont launch and i get the message “the item ‘vorpcontrol.exe’ that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly do you want to delete this shortcut?” because of this vorpx then needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled
but if i try to install and run vorpx without anti-ransomware and anti-virus (which im not really comfortable leaving those things off all of the time) vorpx launches but then my headset (valve index) wont turn on so im unable to even ensure its working. are AV needed to be off to run vorpx or only during install?
obviously during all of this im not moving or changing files or folders that would cause a shortcut to break
Hi, just recently bought VorpX today and having a ‘similar’ sort of issue?
I’m using a Valve Index.
When I launch the game VorpX attaches itself to Cyberpunk 2077, it begins to play the intro screen with “Cyberpunk 2077” then it freezes, on the title/logo screen, and can only be closed via task manager.
I had originally tried this with the free Cybperpunk VorpX mod, which wouldn’t load at all on my Index. Hence why I’ve bought the paid version.
Any help for us all would be appreciated.
Some titles just work better in vorpX than others, and Greedfall has certainly been one of them for me. It’s a story-rich RPG that will probably appeal to persons who like Dragon Age etc. It has two things going for it that make it work well in vorpX (virtual cinema mode). First, it performs pretty darn well, and second, it’s engine is good enough that it also looks good. I’m managing a solid 60fps/60hz on my Pimax 8K-X at full 4K game resolution with only the need to turn shadows down. Every other quality setting is maxed. Turn the resolution down even a little and full-quality shadows are also fine. The TAA in this title is not the muddy-blurry mess it is in most games for some reason, so using the vorpX sharpening will get very crisp results.
A few quick tips:
1) Download the vorpX Cloud profile by domjacksonuk (thank you!). Make sure you are in Z3D Normal mode and that the depth is set to 1. Now set the near/far balance all the way to FAR: 100%. Now set the Focal Distance nearly as low as it will go; around 3 or so. At least for me this provides far and away the best results – surprisingly good 3D with few artifacts and excellent in cut scenes as well.
2) Set the in-game FOV slider to the maximum. That seems perfect to me, so no need to tweak it with mods or ini files, IMHO.
3) That’s about it, it’s a fairly good title without modding, although I do strongly recommend this particular Mod as it is a game-changer, allowing you to travel with additional party members: https://www.nexusmods.com/greedfall/mods/43 Follow the install instruction found in this post (just install it manually): https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7994778-increase-party-size/?p=110975918
Make sure your controller is on when you start the game or it won’t detect it. It also has some bugged controller issues that have never been fixed, but it’s far from a game-breaker.
>Hi, I’m testing standalone and runs pretty good, but cannot change dialog options using Oculus Q2 in gamepad mode.
Alright, figured it out, I needed to hold trigger to switch left stick mode!
Overall works nice, although on my i5-12600k + GTX 1080, VR mode: Z-Index, Nice setting I have sometimes brutal FPS dips which I guess may be expected. But roughly 40 FPS on avg makes it playable for me.
Don’t really like gestures so far, but gamepad emulation from Oculus controllers is already a godsend to me.
Overall feels like CP2077 is game just begging for VR so thanks so much for this! Will definitely consider buying Vorpx for other flat games.
Sounds like a SteamVR misconfiguration.
If you don’t have a native SteamVR headset (e.g. Index or Vive), SteamVR is only the third best option anyway. Switch to OpenXR (works with all headsets) or Oculus (only works with Meta/Oculus headsets) in the vorpX config app.
Caveat 1 (for Oculus/WMR headsets): Unfortunately SteamVR tries to make itself the system’s OpenXR runtime no matter what. That is *NOT* what you want when you run an Oculus/WMR headset with OpenXR. Instead use your headset vendor’s native OpenXR implementation.
Caveat 2 (for Index/Vive): While native SteamVR headsets like Index or Vive also work with OpenXR in principle these days, Valve very unfortunately doesn’t seem to be interested in being fully compliant to the OpenXR specs. After more than two years they still didn’t bother to implement OpenXR for 32bit, which in effect limits the SteamVR OpenXR mode to newer 64bit games.
