    Hi Ralf,

Firstly, thank you for your work, the program works really good and it very useful for VR/3D gaming.

Today I want to ask you about adding more multipliers to screen size / distance. And here’s why:

I find a way to make Doom 2016 work with 3D, via Reshade (Vulkan mode) + SuperDepth3D shader.
It looks and works just awesome!

Except one thing – the screen is too close in FullVR mode, so my eyes crossed too much.
I have already set screen distance / scale to 5x, but it needs a little more (something like 7-8x).

Thus, I forced to use “pick for preview” mode in Vorpx to add some distance, but it also makes screen size smaller (in terms of FOV).
Or, I can also use “Virtual Desktop – desktop streaming” since it has more flexibility in terms of distance from / scale of virtual display. But VorpX desktop / game streaming has better quality so I would like to use it instead.

Can you please, add to the VorpX some extra multipliers to screen distance and scale?

    Hello everybody,

I have started a new thread here https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/doom-internet-multiplayer-with-vorpx/#post-219845, in order to update possible progress on this and specially asking if there is a change to play doom in multiplayer tools like Zandronum or Odamex…

    Regards !

    Hello,

Could it be possible to use one of the programs to allow multiplayer online for classic doom I,II like Zandronum / Q-Zandronum or Odamex to work with Vorpx ?

In this post https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/vorpx-doom-is-amazing/page/2/#post-104127, user piebald3 claimed that he achieved to run Doom with Vorpx, but I have tried to do that with the mentioned programs above (using his profile or a new one), but none worked, because it provoked an opengl error; Changing also Zandronum to render in software made Vorpx unusable (it simply did not a thing).

    Thanks !

Has anything been changed by the developers in Doom 2016 in the meantime? Asking because Doom 2016 ran excellently about 3 years ago when I last played it with Vorpx.

As far as I know, due to it being the Vulkan api, none of the profiles on the Vorpx Cloud are actually displaying 3d. Its easy to misconceive this at times due to the immersive nature of having the entire game world in your entire Field of View, but, its not actual rendering the game into 3d.

You could use the instructions I give above for just about any game, if you wanted to test out a regular Vorpx Profile vs Reshade Side by Side 3d w/ Vorpx Desktop Viewer

Go to my thread here if you want to get Doom/Eternal/Wolfenstein etc to work with Vorpx Desktop Viewer, you just need to enable Reshade. You will have head tracking, but not depth – Basically, you can use your head and controller in Tandem to target and for movement direction, etc.

Other apps and the Nvidia3dVision trick didnt include headtracking for me.

I didnt have to downgrade any of my graphics options, was still running it about 1440p maxed out except raytracing

How to get games like Doom Eternal into 3d in your headset w/ Vorpx

Thanks for this info, even if the new version of vorpX´s desktop-viewer is doing a better job after its updates. You never now what complications could be caused with certain hardware specs, so every info regarding optional workarounds, is welcome!

    Hey everyone,

So, Vorpx is great but unfortunately, due to Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal’s engines, we havent gotten to profiles for these games to work, as far as I know.

There is a little trick you can do, though.

Install Reshade into Doom Eternal, particularly we want the “Depth3D by BlueSkyDefender” parts of Reshade.

Launch the game with Reshade, and enable “SuperDepth3d” with Reshade.

    Close the game.

Now, this is the tricky part. Vorpx and this game do no play nicely unfortunately, but you can make it work.

You need to launch the game, and as it is loading, enable “Vorpx Desktop Viewer”; you will have to get the timing right because the game will just be put down to the taskbar and youll have to try Alt+tabbing to get it to come back up, or just relaunch. This is somewhat random and takes a few tries to get the hang of it.

But, once you get the game in full screen and your headset is in Vorpx Desktop Viewer and youre seeing the game running, you then go to Vorpx Desktop Viewer’s In Headset Settings and change the Content type to Side by Side.

When you do this, you will want to zoom the image in/out a bit. You will not be able to see the full screen, but thankfully, Doom eternal put much of your important HUD information around the crosshair.

You will have headtracking, but not with any depth. Like you can look up/down/left/right, but cant lean forward, backwards, etc. So, it works with controller or Keyboard/mouse.

Its basically creating a 3d image for you, so the game will be in 3d, but, you just dont have the leaning in and out options.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

In the Cyberpunk menu not the VorpX menu, Under video. Are you getting Cyberpunk to look okay? Mine looks like crap and is unplayable. If I move my head the whole screen bugs out, the 3D environment looks zoomed in and really low res…worse than Doom 3, the game constantly freezes after about 15 min.

There’s this standalone version for Cyberpunk, but there is no standard setting or instruction. So Everyone starts off shooting in the dark trying to fix it. I mean, make a TXT file at least going over basics. It’s one game, with one mod “just for it”, and there is no general setting. But hey, it’s free so that could explain a lot.

I am now going to try to play, I will update you, if it does not work well there is no reason for me to buy the product, and I really want to buy the product, question if there is a problem is it like this in all games?

    Greetings 3D fans,

I am thinking about buying VorpX for Doom2016 and Dishonored 2!
I´m slooooooowly running out of VR games because there is not much in true AAA quality after Half-Life Alyx and Moss, only indie-stuff and 2 hour games, that´s why I want regular AAA games in VR.
Just like Alien Isolation with that Mother-Mod, wow one of the BEST games for VR out there!

But VR has one significant flaw, everything is way too small and not life-like sized, and that´s why all games need to have the SteamVR world slider set to 120% to have the world around me in authentic life-like size.
Otherwise VR would look like a completely off and strange dwarfen world with ridiculous 140cm dwarfs as NPC´s standing around, chairs and tables look like made for elementary school children, and in general everything is only half the size it should be in VR when playing without the SteamVR world slider (which is the most legendary and important option ever implemented in any program!)

The world scaling option in SteamVR solves this problem diving into some ridiculous dwarven world whenever putting on the headset, for good!

Everything looks great now thanks to SteamVR world scaling. Even the cockpits in Flight Simulator 2020 needs slight scaling correction, the Fenix Airbus has a perfect life-like size in 110%, and the DCS jetfighters look great at 115-122% world size scaling.
Alien Isolation needs SteamVR world scale adjustment of 125% otherwise small children´s hands are holding the flamethrower.
You see how important size scaling is for VR? It is the main difference between being fully immersed, or being in a strange dwarven world where nothing has the right size and scale.

So to get to the point, it is not possible for me to enjoy VR without world scaling option because only having the correct size of objects gives immersion.

X-Plane for example has no world scale slider in VR, that´s why the cockpit chairs have the size for elementary school children, ridiculous and absolute impossible to immerse myself in such a cockpit.

You see, not graphics but seeing objects in the the right proper world-like size makes a game a masterpiece or a no-go in VR. :)

    My question is:
Has VorpX a world size slider option for games like Doom2016, Dishonored 2, (and I would also love to play Outlast and Soma if possible)?
Without world scaling the immersion and sense of size and height is so off that a VR gane is not enjoyable.
I need to know if I can adjust the size of the 3D world when using VorpX for a game before buying it :)

This may sound overboard, but its not like its a harmful medication, try playing a few times a week with some Dopamine, same medication you take when you get on a boat, because your inner ear doesnt work well with a bobbing around.

I started playing with a DK2 and had very mild motion sickness at first, used dopamine for a few sessions and dont get VR sickness whatsoever at this point.

Hell, played Doom Eternal in 3d (no 6dof) and didnt have a problem playing whatsoever. Your mind can get used to it, but, some people will criticize it for being too much to just play a video game; but try dopamine for a few weeks and just play a little bit through the weeks to get your body and mind on the same page when it comes to VR.

Worked for me, might work for you. Good luck getting over it whatever you decide to do, I would be super frustrated if I got motion sick from playing.

Subject title makes you sound like you are trolling.

Vorpx is one developer. Not a company with 200 employees.

If Ralf went personally bankrupt I assume he would have bigger worries than your entertainment, ones that were real not virtual.

What if Steam goes bankrupt? Or Epic? Or any company you ‘rely’ on for entertainment?

iZ3D were a hardware company first and foremost, and they folded because they did not sell enough of the hardware. Vorpx sells no hardware, and you do not need it for any hardware to function.

I remember someone else on this forum asking a similar ‘doomsday’ question about end-of-life for Vorpx.

I recommend you play your Vorpx games while you are young enough and mentally competent enough to enjoy them. Seriously, life is short. You paid $40, and it’s later than you think.
