There is however an explanation why some may experience an existing user profile as (partially) 3D. The first version of vorpX’s OpenGL render path used alternate frame rendering, which means the left and right eye are rendered at different points in time: left at frame 1, right at frame 2, left at frame 3, right at frame 4, and so on. Given these circumstances moving sideways (strafing) happens to have a similar effect as rendering two images for stereo 3D although vorpX doesn’t create any stereo 3D at all. Moving forward/backward doesn’t produce correct stereo 3D, but apparently some still experience what they see as 3D. My personal guess is that maybe their brains somehow try to make sense of the (garbage) input. I’d consider it way more likely though that you will experience anything else than strafing as weird and unpleasent, so try at your own risk.Has G3d ever worked in DOOM 2016? Cause it certainty doesnt any more.

mariametroParticipantDoes this have 6dof? No offenece to paradisedecay, but the guy runs a lot of videos claiming games are fullvr with working headtracking and either 6dof is non-existent or the stereo doesn’t render correctly (like Doom2016). Would like clarification on that before I purchase the game.

The C engines used in Quake 3 and older games by id Software were written in the C language, but this is unrelated to the C engine by Techland. Both id Tech 4 (Doom 3 and newer) and all versions of the Chrome engine were written in C++, and likely also the C engine in DL2. While there is not much information about the engine so far, I guess it could still be based on Chrome, but with major upgrades/overhaul.”
G3D in games like that is a difficult question for me. In G3D in First Person games the Resolution has to be at least 2160×1920 and the graphic details have to be at least a mix between medium and low, and ultra textures.
I tested G3D in Days Gone, i think in God of War it would be the same, and i have to use 1620p or 1440p and it does not look like a Triple AAA Blockbuster of 2021, and i decided to play it in Z3D Ultra in 4K, and it’s fun !
But Techland is able to release a VR support with Nvidia Multi-View Rendering and AMD LiquidVR, and we will get a 30% performance boost. I guess that because of the Nvidia and AMD tech the performance of many native VR games is decent.
In my opinion, the perfect compromise between G3D or Native VR and Z3D, is AFR 3D ! “The NPC’s are living” and “their feelings” and also the whole story is much more immersive, but we will have a decent performance. I do not care about the graphic issues of AFR 3D !

7. Dead Island Definitive Edition (vr mode)
8. Sonic All Star Racing Transformed (Theatre Mode)
9. Quake Champions (Theatre mode)
10. Tekken 7 (Theatre mode)BONUS: GZDOOM VR MOD, not VorpX, but it’s probably my favorite VR game period. Everyone should try this, works with Doom, Doom2, Final Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and more.. near perfect experience.

BurniParticipantAh, it´s not the same.
The lighting etc. is not like the original.Yes I agree, the atmosphere of the original is much better, but the remastered version should be supported in my opinion for its modernity/compatibility’s sake, the old one isn’t even available anymore. I’d been playing the original in VR using the last version that supported the native VR launch parameter trick – 20170929 (15301), but there are quite a few graphical glitches.
It’s no doubt that System Redux’s graphical textures are better, but yes the lighting is not as good. I believe Ralf had already tried to support the original Observer fully but to no avail. Perhaps something may be possible in the future for System Redux.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I should have quoted the post.
My reply was for this post:Doom64 is actually playable in VR through a modified GZDoom with special .WAD files
The Doom64 mod running in GZDoom is not the same as the original steam version in terms of lightning, textures and a few other things.
I would like to play the steam remaster instead the mod.

in forum Game Hints and Settings
dimensionaldudeParticipantI’m struggling to get VorpX to work on some old games in OpenGL mode. The games are Need for Speed 2 and Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed. These games are so old they can’t be run on modern systems without special patches, and it happens that an OpenGL 1.1 wrapper has been made for both of them:
https://verokster.blogspot.com/2019/11/need-for-speed-ii-second-edition-patch.html
https://verokster.blogspot.com/2019/11/need-for-speed-porsche-unleashed-patch.html
The problem is, I can’t get VorpX to work on them based on any profile. Profiles I’ve tried:
Quake
Quake 2
Quake 3
Half-Life
Hexen II
Doom 3They’ve usually hooked, but there’s no 3D depth whatsoever in them. Does anyone have advice on what I can try? I’ve read how VorpX has great older OpenGL support, but it seems like nothing can hook.

dimensionaldudeParticipantModern OpenGL games and / or support for a glide wrapper. I’ve come across multiple games with wrappers that convert them to Dx9 or OpenGL, but can’t get VorpX to hook into those.
For example, Need for Speed II, III, and High stakes have fan patches than can render them in OpenGL 1 or OpenGL 3, no profile I found worked with any of them. Hexen II’s profile worked with OpenGL 1, but it was all flat. Doom 2016’s profile worked with OpenGL 3, but also flat. NGlide renders games in DirectX 9, but I couldn’t get anything to hook with it in 3D.
If we could get broader OpenGL support and / or a Glide wrapper support, it would open up dozens of games.

thomas3dParticipantDoom Eternal and Doom 2016 also work well with Reshade Depht3D with very good 3D depth in Side by Side with Virtual Desktop … !!
It’s a shame that VorpX doesn’t work …
I don’t know the program Vk3DVision app, yet … if the real G3D can do it then I have to test it today … !!
Thanks for the tip !!Aug 17, 2021 at 1:07am #205718In reply to: Doom Eternal
elliotttateParticipantBoth Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 work in full Alternate Frame Geometry 3D with the free Vk3DVision app (can work nicely along side VorpX or it can send it directly)

WTF?! You rate a game based on an indepth research? Seriously?
I miss the good ole times where users actually rated things based on their own friggin expieriences with it.

luka2099Participantbut look at me doom 2016 liked it so much with vorpx, it would have been a bit tweak the fov, but without g3d it works fine. I was hoping it would do the same with eternal, but it just doesn’t stick!

jjenssonParticipantYou could see if HelixVision supports Doom Eternal, it works with some games that VorpX can’t run (for example SOMA).
