Dont know about these games but you can use that same mod for Doom for Heretic and Hexen

That mod won’t work because these are Build engine games not Doom engine games.

Here is a tip – profile is not G3D(at least for steam version, but I am certain in this particular case versions are same)

It’s a common mistake to kinda see 3D especially with head tracking since motion helps your brain tell depth of things. Ive done it myself – believing there is 3d depth when there is none, but now I cant fool myself as easily. You can check it yourself – turn off headtracking, switch to immersive screen and look away from screen, then open vorpx menu (this way it wont be over game screen) then switch between z3d, g3d and off and you will see no difference. When depth is there there is no doubt, you dont have to kinda see it, because it jumps at you. Game start is in a hotel room and you get to hotel corridor and corridors are one of best things to test depth – you see it clearly when there is one.

I wanted to find a unity profile that would actually work (even if just z3d) and Ive tried all unity 2017 (that game uses) profiles from other games of same unity version and none had any depth. Best I could achieve is having main menu background and mouse on a separate plane. Whats more game has 0 graphic options, cant adjust fov or anything and there are no 3rd party apps to hax for unity like universal unreal unlocker is for ue games, no config files. So it makes adjusting a game even harder.

Anyways Im quite tired of trying like a hundred profiles with absolutely no success so far, so only advice I have for you is to make absolutely sure there is actual depth in game, people have been fooled many times including me (good example is doom 2016 that people were sure had 3d, while even Ralf said it just seemed so)

I now know how to use Reshade.
    But there is a problem.
When I launch Reshade and Vorpx, I get an error because of dxgi.dll.
However, if I rename dxdi.dll to something else, Reshade will not be enabled.
    What should i do?

Load into Vorpx Desktop Viewer, go to Image Settings and change the Stero Image from Mono to SideBySide, and put the game at full screen. I use this to play Doom Eternal in VR (z3d obviously, cant move head around, but it works and demons are in 3d)

Worth saying that Big screen VR allows you to flick to 3d sbs. I’ve used it in the past to play Tomb raider.

Another app worth looking in to for sbs gaming would be Helix, available on steam.

Just to add – unlike most stuff, im not sure about Big Screen VR; but Vorpx Desktop viewer w/ Reshade still includes Headtracking, in the event you wanted headtracking still in a game that was SBS 3d

Got Doom Eternal in 3d w/ Headtracking this way

I really appreciate the response and tip TheBalt.

Unfortunately, this did not work for me.

I used the sizes from your example and was super optimistic but still the same D3D error.

I would be interested to see if it works for anyone else.

damn, im sorry Clint.. hmm, ok, this is just the same thing but maybe try going even a little -crazier- with the numbers. I have been running Doom Eternal + Vorpx Desktop and getting memory errors even when I had 20 gigs set aside… I thought it was plenty and still crashed. Kicked it up to 30000 and now no crashes. It probably wont work, but, it might be worth giving it one last shot. and remember to reboot your computer before trying to launch your program again.

I will try to do some research on this error in particular – i dont think this is Vorpx screwing with you, just pushing the system hard and we need to find a way to circumvent that. I have dealt with similar problems before and somehow sorted them out, I will take a closer look for a bit and see if I find anything else.. but go ahead and try one more time going even crazier with the numbers and then reboot after you make sure they are set and dont revert to old numbers

    Ralf,

Upon further working on it – found the real culprit, or two.

Either the new AMD Drivers were messing with my game; or, my PageFile Size was too small and was causing the game to lock up and not allow me to get past that mouse click. Changed both and now Desktop Viewer is working just fine for Eternal and the OpenGL trick is working just fine for Doom 2016.

Thank you for your help, but I dont think this one is on Vorpx’s end. apologies for wasting your time on it, but got it sorted.

Thanks again! Sorry to bug ya!

Oh, sorry, forgot to mention Ive been bouncing between Doom 2016 and Eternal, just seeing how they both look in the headset and run – so doom 2016 is running just fine now that I switched to OpenGL, but Eternal, which I did play before on “big screen” with Desktop Viewer, just wont let me ‘interact’ with the game screen, mouse overlay on top of it.

I have a CV1 and tried with Oculus as the program for Vorpx to work with and also tried SteamVR, same thing, mouse just gets in the way over the screen.

But ya, 2016 is working perfectly fine now, just got some playtime in it. Thanks for taking the time to respond, trying to get them both running to show my brother this weekend both of them on Big Screen.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey folks,

So I have no other issues with Vorpx and don’t have any antivirus besides Windows Defender – but I was trying to play through Doom 2016; cant get it to hook, but wanted to play it on a “big screen” with Vorpx Desktop Viewer but the game just gets ‘minimized’ instantly when I switch to it, cant get it to stay on the screen. It will flash for a moment then it gets kicked back down to the start menu/taskbar.

Anyone know any tricks to get it to stay up on screen if using Desktop Viewer?

    Thanks for your time!

Good call on the Batman Arkham series, those are some of my favorites and will definitely be checking those out

Despite i am not that much of a first-person-vr-immersion-enthusiast and more a bigass-theatre-wide-screen-addict, i am very much interested in how the ARKHAM SERIES could be played in vorpX full-vr.

@ToxicMike: You are so right. The vast majority of VR titles are poor in detail and boring. Only titles like skyrim that have been ported from flat to vr or flat games with VR mods available like Valheim, are great. I’ve been using vorpx since my DK2 (2015). Now with my Reverb G2 and the current Vorpx I’ve reached what I dreamed of.

LOL my oculus-rift-s wasn´t used for about a year, giving it one last shot with playing a game for the first time on a theatre-screen with bigscreen-beta (i never thought about it coz it didn´t made much sense to me, let alone that i had doubts about the experience being THAT great), before i was about to sell my vr-gear cheap, but from that moment on, i was never playing any game on my regular flat-monitor again and jacked myself into the vr-goggles with EVERY game i was playing EVERY TIME i played it. All of the sudden i was aware that i can´t ever enjoy any game without vr-goggles ever again LOL.

My best vr-experiences were SUPERHOT VR followed by HELLBLADE (interesting how absolutely great this 3rd-person game was in vr and that its vr-mode was actually coming more as a late add-on rather than an exclusive vr-game, wishing myself for even more 3rd-person games in vr!) and last but not least THE TALOS PRINCIPLE VR…and i actually loved DOOM VR, a title often downvoted negative by many users, to my surprise.

…and then there were, also to my surprise, many vr-titles preached by users in all positive ways but for me being the absolute “nightmare” in vr-games, horrifying in every negative way someone could imagine a vr-title to be. Now you might think i am talkin about vr-sickness, but that never was a big problem since i got adapted to it pretty fast, there were other major problems:

.) SERIOUS SAM VR: WTF?!?!? What do people love with this crap of a vr-game??? I love all the regular versions of SSAM but this?! Standing still while shooting into all directions, being so stressful and hectic that i actually lost every immersion from all the concentration it took for me to hit and dodge, almost getting sick from all the stress, so i tried on easier difficulty settings but then the game was too easy and boring, putting it away after 30 minutes and never loaded it up ever again.

.) Those “Bow”-Titles: What in gods name were they thinking???? The technique of shooting arrows with moving my hands in a similiar way was fun, but really….shooting more arrows at waves of enemies, than Robin Hood shot in all of his movies together, was more of a “stressful” experience rather than a joyful one, i also got that feeling (again) of losing every immersion coz the game itself took far too much of my concentration in order to hit all those enemies…..let alone that my shoulder still hurts by just thinking about those 30 minutes where i probably shot a million of virtual arrows.

.) Other more or less “mediocre” experiences/titles weren´t that great coz they were probably first generation vr-titles and only “great” on their release but i guess they´re not the titles these days to show off with, most of all coz some of those graphics are kinda like walking between “cardboard walls” rather than a “real” environment, but at least i was having the immersion of really walking inside another world…even if it was a “cardboard-world”.

…oh my..the size of this article again, sorry fellas i know i get carried away with writing way too much at times lol.

Vorpx was working fine before. No problems whatsoever. All of a sudden today of all days not a single Vorpx game actually attaches. The closest I got was Titanfall 2 and Doom 2016, TF2 (for one time) ran on the desktop instead of the headset, and doom had the headset say “next up” in Steamvr while it was already running, then softlocked my entire PC and shut it down.

Every. Single. Game. does not attach. I made sure no antivirus software was blocking Vorpx and my settings were correct, and even tried deleting dxgi.dll files. All that happens is the little dialog box that says that it’s attaching stays there forever, I waited a really long time and still there it was.

I am not sure what in the world would cause something like this, I didn’t mess with Vorpx or mod anything since I last used it. It’s even stranger that I don’t really see any other people reporting something like this, it may even be me just making a simple mistake. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not a modder nor am I familiar with coding so this may be a silly question. But, how come some older games like Doom or Half Life have the capability for full VR immersion (I.e. hand tracking, locomotion, physics) but others like Halo or Clive Barkers Jericho do not? Is it difficult to create hand models and tracking for these?

I would love to try to create something! I’m new to Vorpx but have been tweaking Dying light for the last few days using my HP Reverb G2 and am very excited at the possibilities. I know there’s native support but it’s nauseating without head tracking so I’m using a cloud profile. Is there a way to combine the 2 methods? I can’t seem to get the full 3D immersion from the cloud profiles like the native option. Lastly, is it possible to add in hands like people did with half life using Gary’s mod or something?

That profile doesn’t work. It never has and never will. I admit to making the same mistake originally, but I put “does not work” in the description of the profile I uploaded, once it became clear that it was hosed. It uses some sort of weird alternate-eye presentation which gives the illusion of 3d when there is lateral motion, similar to the Pulfrich effect, but it is extremely difficult on the visual cortex.

There is no vorpx opengl profile that will work. I tried all of them but the game doesn’t implement the frame buffers required by any vorpx profile. Play the game pancake or use something like superdepth3dvr. And stay away from the Doom 2016 profile. It does the same thing.

There’s a non-BFG Doom 3 profile in the cloud that sort of works if you like walking a foot above ground. The VR-modded BFG version is a lot better. I haven’t tried, but Doom 3 would probably work with superdepth3dvr – Doom 2016 works quite well in that regard.

NVM. I just researched the topic: The VR mods are for the BFG version of Doom 3. But i don’t see the problem: Doom 3 BFG has better lighting and better gameplay anyway.

Given that neither VorpX nor HelixVision will run Doom 3, you really have only 2 choices. Play it native on Quest (you lose stencil shadows, the signature shadows of Doom 3), or play Doom 3 BFG w- VR mod (you still can play wireless).

Anyone correct me, please, if i’m spreading wrong info here.
