So recently got Vorpx and i can get it working with oblivion and skyrim but any time i try to get it to work with fallout 4 it crashes , i deleted all my ENBS and stuff and the game its self works fine out of VR but as soon as it says “press enter to continue” or whatever at the main menu it just CTDs without any warning or anything and instantly without any loading or even freezing/lag
Hi,
Each game I’ve tried so far crashes after about 30-60 minutes playtime (e.g. Diablo 3). Shortly before those crashes the VR world begins to … “flashing” (My steam VR background fades in and out quickly). This starts very gentle and gets worse within next 1-2 minutes. In the end the VR world crashes (black screen), but the games still runs fine (on my monitor).
Regular Steam VR games and Steam’s cinema mode running just fine. I already tried to lower game settings while using vorpx and set vorpx’s ingame settings to “low” (no 3D emulation, black background, etc.). It didn’t even increase the playtime before it crashes.
Before asking: Yes, I went through the FAQ already (I’ve disabled antivirus, checked further programs, avoided game mods/injections and no nvidia 3D-ish configs activated).
So, does someone have a hint on how I can solve this annoying behaviour?
Thank you in advance.

No forum entries containing the word DOSbox? Strange that I’m the first one to post on this. So I started up a dosbox game and nothing. VorpX didn’t react. I tried starting Dosbox directly and same, no response. Really wanted to try this. It IS in the list of supported games and there is even a profile in vorpX so whats going on? Ralph? Anyone get it working?
I find that using Nvidia’s AA options and AO options usually work better than ingame.
You can also find a good balance using supersampling alongside your AA or even eliminating AA altogether and running a higher supersample as it naturally antialiases anyway.
first off… thank you for responding, and quickly.
im not sure what words are need to make it clear, that i do not have any anti virus any thing. (anti virus was a common thing i seen on every post, so that was done before i posted) even defender is disabled because of how much it was slowing down my computer, i went out of my way to disable it… was a real pain to disable on win 10, but since im back on win 7 it was a bit easier to disable… and we dont have to worry about some bloat ware install i dont know about.
now i have not tried that specific version of .net, so i will try that once i get home…
and about changing the .ini file, that does seem helpful because when i launch skyrim any ways the error i get does says something about not seeing a rift. i was assuming that is why i needed to get to the config screen. but that alone might at least get it working with out the config screen.
any ways, i will try these things tonight. thank you again for responding.
i finally talked myself in to buying this software, and i cant get the config screen to open. got the vorp icon in my bar down there by the clock, but if i click on it… vorpconfig has stopped working.
ive disconnected 2nd monitor, disabled all anti-everything, .net installs, looked over .dll files, turned off nvidia control panel. ive looked over what i can find on the forums.
i even made a short cut to skyrim using vorp, and tried to do something but just crashed too, so figure i needed to start with the config crash.
running 1070 and htc vive.

I’ve been having problems with VorpX too lately. GTA 5 no longer works and I sent a trouble shoot report to VorpX support but got no response.
Other games (doom) dont seem to work as well either. Also on a GTX 980Ti. Think its maybe since the update. GTA 5 runs fine without VorpX but vorpX on and frame rates tank, mainly at night but this never used to happen. Resetting to Default doesent help, I tried clean reinstallations and putting graphics settings on the lowest possible. It didnt even seem to register a change.
Just tried again was getting 20 FPS in the day time down to 4 at night! Something is very wrong!
Sorry, hadn’t looked back here for a bit. I’ll have to see which specific mouse evens they are. It’s extra mouse buttons that would be like Mouse 3 and 4 right?
We also should try and get a discussion going on the Stereoscopic side of the conversation on the forums. I have actually tried the game in 3D before with tridef and it was alright. It might look a lot better with an HMD though.
I’ve got the version with the film-grain switch in options (turned off, hated it even playing on a monitor), but that’s still good to know. Any other tweaks in the pipeline, before I get reckless and start experimenting :)?
I’ve also noticed, though it may not be directly related… that if I play Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer now that the game is playable for more than a few minutes, around 3 to 5 games in, eventually the screen will go completely black and I have to remove the headset to keep going. If I hit Del key, the Vorp X menu still comes up but I have not found a way to make the video come back with any setting. So far the only way I know of to fix it is to restart the game completely. Another thing I noticed is when it gets to that point, the Vive seems to be running abnormally hot as well. However, Native VR titles do not seem to have that problem. @dborosev, I haven’t played much campaign play, have you run into any blank screens since the fixes, where the video just goes pitch black?
VorpX basically gives you around 8-10 times less FPS than you will get on your regular monitor. Even games that I am running at around 200-300 FPS still slog along at around 30-40 FPS in the headset. Left For Dead 2 (source engine 2)which runs at 400+ FPS on my monitor is the only game so far that I have seen using vorpX that gives me the 60-90 FPS silky smooth that you want for VR. 45 FPS is sleep inducing. And all of this is on a brand new $700 1080GTX.
So i know resident evil 7 isn’t sulported yet but I was curious what would cause it to not even open. When i try to start the gsme it comes up like its loading. It then it gets to the capcom logo while at the same time the vive is the normal grey screen and its laggy. Then the game crashes saying re7 crashed. I got it to boot 1 out of 35 tries. All drivers, firmware and directx has been installed.
I got some info from Blue Sky Knight and I managed to get proper 3D depth through reshade, no chromatic abboration at all even around the edges of my HMD (you have to adjust polynomial distortion based on your lens or HMD used, but Im using DK2 so my profile will be based around that.) Now, for headtracking. Might try some ghetto rigging features like old phone through USB 3.0 using the phones grryscope for XY headtracking since I cant get opentrack to recognize the oculus while its in extended mode on 0.6 runtime (required to see the game through HMD w/ reshade) Wish me luck!
Hello BLAs68,
Yes i indeed had this same problem when i tried it with vorpx i believ it was 0.9 about a year ago.
I dont think that we can get this resolved soon as far as i am aware.
There remains the issue with battleye compatibility with freetrack, vorpx and other addon software needed to run VR.
I have to say that the 15 minutes i spent playing arma 3 was actually one of the best VR titles with vorpx.
I am sure that a fix will come eventually, but i think this issue is only limited to us because as far as i am aware the guy who made the arma 3 vorpx tutorial on youtube did not experience this issue.
Sorry i couldnt be of more help.
The status access violation error continued to plague me after using VR, so i had to reinstall the entire game (removing mods etc) for it to work.
You could try to disable all mods and try the 64 bit dev build and let me know outcome?
I would love to see this game supported and there will be more work done on it, but right now all I can say is: don’t get your hopes up. Without figuring out what they do in regard to input it doesn’t even make sense to start checking whether 3D is possible.
Glad to hear you’re working on it and want it supported. DirectVR for this would be amazing – For a game that is built for VR like this, all of the ‘workaround’ hackish 3D solutions don’t seem to do the game justice
