Please help,
This is getting quite infuriating. I followed the instructions:
launch Vorpx
go into general settings choose HTC Vive as hardware
downloaded this profile and ran Skyrim SE (i know profile is not part of instructions, but since I’m new, I have no idea about profiles and needed starting point)
Skyrim Special Edition
then launch the game
Vorpx is basically giving me the middle finger and saying thanks for buying.
So what am I doing wrong?
I launched SkyrimSE from within the Vive menu while wearing the headset – Is this the way I am supposed to launch the game? or am I supposed to launch it from within the steam client? (which I have and it doesn’t show up in my VR headset this way, I am still in my VR lobby, while I hear my game running on my PC.
When the game does launch in my Vive it’s ultra close to whatever is in front of me, I am damn near inside the barrels wood grain (how the hell do I fix this, I tried fov within the delete menu *it’s not working*
Also, Vorpx is not tracking my head movement within the world of the game, When I move my head, the image that’s in front of me (moves along with me) therefore it’s like I’m always staring straight even when I’m moving my head.
Help please!
Would be awesome to see real 3d on the Vive or even Occulus using vorpX. Some people have said that this game in VR is as close to Sword Art Online that you can get today. It’s not bad imo, just that full support would be awesome. I was thinking of however playing around with the Nvidia Inspector settings, as it does have a section pertaining to Stereoscopics.
It’s is probably slower in almost any game with true geometric 3d. Vorpx requires even better specs since it isn’t optimized as well as native VR apps. But you could run in some of the simpler 3d modes and get better frame rates. And then there are old games like Portal, Mirror’s Edge or Half-Life 2, that may run well even on your system.
I bought the Wearality Sky headset which gives a whooping 150degree FOV and I am using it with Riftcat and VorpX playing Crysis at 1920x1440p which is 4:3 on my Samsung Galaxy S7 with Riftcat set to 2560x1440p.
You get the WHOLE 4:3 screen while playing without having to resort to EdgePeek you can even read the whole game menus the same way. I know it’s using the phone’s sensors to do headtracking but this FOV and image quality blows the rift and vive out of the water looking up at a palm tree against the blue sky is amazing.
Get the Wearality for the 150 degree FOV. Can be used with Riftcat and VorpX. Not to mention playing IMAX 3D you see the whole big screen also without having to headtrack. I vote the Wearality the most impressive VR headset available right now.
Oh, sorry. Didn’t realize you weren’t running a mod. If you’re just running vorpx with the vanilla game, Have you done all the steps to configure the game in the vorpx configuration panel? Here’s a quick step guide to help you…

As for the question about a frame rate cap, from my understanding there is a cap, and you can disable it to get crazy high frame rates at the risk of getting crazy low frame rates as well. I’ve done it myself with my 1080, but it’s better if Ralf answer with the details, as I don’t even I understand what I’m doing half the time.
The mods are better only if you want to use your hands. Which for me makes all the difference.
Wow, I didn’t realize how popular my profile had become. Nifty. I was just mucking around when the free beta was live. Nice job on the suggested tweaks. I didn’t put a lot of time into it after I got it to hook and I never even ended up buying it for PC. Glad some people are getting some use out of it and making it better. Was finally thinking about grabbing it with all the Black Friday sales going on.
Yesterday I bought Far Cry 4 just to try what Vorpx could do in Stereoscopic 3D. Unfortunately, I cannot manage to launch the game when Vorpx is active. Game crashes immediately without even uploading the first screens.
Game launches normally if Vorpx is not active.
I have tried The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition and it launches correctly. However, I cannot find the way to activate Stereoscopic 3D in this Skyrim game. I guess I am seeing Z buffering, and I am not getting real 3D. Just a plain image wrapped around my head, without any sense of depth. That is why I wanted to try Far Cry 4 that is specifically included in the supported list.
I am using HTC Vive in a system with i7 6900k, dual Geforce GTX 1080 in SLI and 64 GB of RAM, X99 Rampage V 10 Edition motherboard, with Windows 10 Pro OS.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
Hi
I am very enthusiastic with the idea of running AAA titles in VR thanks to Vorpx, so I am investing time in tweaking the system and trying to troubleshoot the issues that arise. I need some help with 3D Geometry mode. Where do you activate it exactly? I cannot find it in the in game menu. Could you please give very specific instructions step by step how to arrive to the screen where I can actually chose the 3D Geometry mode?
What I have seen so far is no 3D really. Just a big plain screen wrapped around my head. Hopefully this is due to the fact that I might not have the 3D Geometry mode activated.
Other strange thing is that FPS is extremely low. I have an i7 6900k, 2 Geforce GTX 1080 working on SLI, 64GB RAM, X99 Rampage V 10 edition. This rig flies. And in spite of all this raw computer power, I am barely getting 40 FPS at top specs (when I am getting a more than twice this number in my monitor). I also see when I press ALT + F that in addition to the FPS, I see another figure (much higher) that is the ‘Direct Mode’. What is the meaning of that?
And probably, the 40FPS that I am getting is in Z buffer mode (as I have not found the way to activate 3D Geometry). So, things might get even slower with 3D Geometry…
I would expect some drop of FPS versus my flat monitor due to the fact that I am sending one screen to each eye in VR instead of one single monitor. But I would not expect a drop of more than 50% in FPS… Is this normal/expected?
Thanks
For some reason with version 16.2.0 I could get vorpx to work with ReviveInjector. But now with 16.2.1 whenever I try to use ReviveInjector Vorpx errors out with Oculus headset not detected. Was this done on purpose to prevent ReviveInjector from working with vorpx? What changed in the way Vorpx detects oculus headset?
I am randomly getting in eventvwr
20/11 13:06:40.881 {!ERROR!} [Kernel:Error]
Failed to present.
the game is rFactor 2. What happens in game is that video gets stuck for ~5 secs, and then resumes, and by that time I find myself without a wheel. It seems that nvidia driver crashes:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Is reported at the same time.
I do not know if this is vorpx issue, but after recent updates it started to happen much more often than before. In past, I would get this, but I thought this had to do with my overclock. Now, I am in stock clocks for my GPU, so this not due to overclocking.
Oculus app version: 1.10.0.308075
Nvidia driver: 375.95
vorpx latest, not sure how to check version.
A full install will probably help.
You can simply use the web installer that you received when you purchased vorpX for that. It will download the latest version available. If you don’t have your web installer anymore, you can get a new one here.
Before you get accustomed to the options vorpX offers, the best way to use vorpX is the quick and dirty “1-2-3 Game Setup” described in the help. Not perfect, but simple. Even that does 10x more than the discontinued program you mention, which doesn’t even provide any kind of Stereo 3D.
BTW: You don’t need to launch the config app to start games with vorpX. Only the injection watcher has to be running.
A recent problem. I could fill a book on the issues this thing has given me. But now VorpX tries to update, afterwards I get a message saying Rolling back changes. Kind of like what Windows does if you revert to a previous driver. Then the program just quits. I can’t even avoid the update as it happens automatically at launch.
VorpX just repeats this process over n over with each re-launch. I just hope the solution doesn’t require me to uninstall it because I have activated this product like a dozen times already throughout the course, it’s getting old quick.
Just a rant here, but in all honesty MyDreamSwift doesn’t have near the headaches, you can inject individual games and they stay injected without launching the config but on the downside, doesn’t have all the options that VorpX has though as far as tweaking. So I’m very close to just saying fuck this app and go back to Swift and just deal with what it offers and I guess the author has my money so I’m sure that’s a big middle finger to me and I get the complexity and funkiness of getting non VR games to work in VR but geez just function for crying out loud. Would be cool if there was an option to force a fisheye morphing of the display output for FOV game limitations but maybe thats not possible. /rant
You know what Ralf, we all love your unbelievable work but even if it’s not really hard to make it work it still has lots of options and enabling or disabling one will make a huge difference on the game experience. Not everyone has the time to invest trying different games and make them work. On the top of that, the configuration process is often unconfortable and many people gets motion sickness because of that. Another little thing that would raise the average performance is assuming that Vorpx users have a VR ready PC (to me, this starts with 980ti graphic card, no less) and make it clear, because if one wanst real VR now he needs a powerful machine. This is true for SteamVr, so should be the same also for Vorpx. All these custom resolutions and performance configurations are just a compromise, in my opionion, and lead to subpar outcomes. Differently, many Vorpx game will look and feel about native on a 2016 machine.
Must be disappointing to get criticism after creating something unique like Vorpx, but i think you won’t have these feedbacks for longtime as soon as some rough aspects will get a bit more “polished” and user friendly. We know u r working into that direction big time, thanks for that.
Ralf it seems maybe there should be Game Optimization for every profile created.
As I said I barely even use vorpX these days because it is just too much hassle. There are so many different issues constantly arising, that VorpX is not even considered a play session in so much as a tech support/workaround session.
Why is there no Game Optimization listed for the profile I created. After spending a long long time getting this game to work, after later playing on a 4K screen, when I go back to vorpX I would expect it to automatically set it back to the VOrpX preferred resolution. Had this game (Unreal tournament 2007) been listed in the Game Optimization list maybe this could have happened. Because it didn’t and the game started up in a tiny inaccessible part of the screen, I threw down my keyboard in disgust and came and ranted here.
For perspective, my $50 for Vorpx has given me over 50 hours of enjoyment with the following games (and I’ve got so many more to go) ….
Dying Light
Fallout 4
GTA V
Far Cry 3
7 Days to Die
Morrowind
Oblivion
Skyrim (old and new)
No Man’s Sky
All these games run mediocre to awesome at a beautiful 1920 x 1440 base resolution, and training has minimized my motion sickness (try standing at a waist-level keyboard and mouse tray …. maybe even walk in place while your character is walking)
Sorry you are having trouble, but as the previous poster has stated, a little tinkering and you can get pennies-per-hour of enjoyment from this product. Give it another chance, and pound the forums with questions about your specific games. We will help you get them running best we can.
