So ive just got vorpx and i tried to load up battlefront 2(ea) though steam vr + WMR and its not working, one of several things will happen.
1: i will be stuck in the steam vr page with it showing “star wars battlefrontii”
Then under that it says “waiting” as in waiting to launch even if the desktop version has already loaded.
2:if the game loads up i will then get a blue screen then turn off or it will just turn off or anything like this, it sometimes even closes the game completely.
3: It will be stuck in the steam vr lobby room(i think thats whats its called the room with shelves on either side) and it won’t load up the game or it will flicker the screen between the lobby and the empty area with mountains in the background, and sometimes it will even be that im half way in the floor.
4: sometimes when i try to load a game the screen will become extremely laggy and will sometimes flicker blue and/ or the screen will slowly start to rotate until its 100% upside down.
5: this issue was ever apparent on star wars knights of the old Republic, none of the controls would work. Keyboard, mouse, vr controllers and even my xbox controller thats connected to my pc.

Sorry i know its a big list of things but im sure theirs a eaay fox for this as ive probably over looked something.

Also my windows 10 is up to date, my gpu drivers are up to date, ive uninstalled then restalled the drivers for WMR my gpu is a
    ROG strix 3070
Im using the HP reverb G2
    Ram: 64gb ddr4
    Cpu: 3600xt

Typically you are better off when you let vorpX hook into games, it can do a lot more when running inside a game, even if you only want to play in 2D. Also performance is usually better that way.

I wasn´t getting that part coz i actually thought making it hook can also cause certain problems with certain games and i would be better off to avoid those with not letting it hook in the first place, since it doesn´t need to be hooked in order to play them in 2D anyway.

While you can use the vorpX desktop viewer for playing games ofc if you want, that’s not really what it was made for originally.

Some users buy vorpX and expect it to work flawlessly in full-vr mode with every game and that are those who mostly end up giving unfair negative reviews on vorpX, while they probably wouldn´t give such negative ratings when they would as well make use of and enjoy those other options besides just going in full-vr.

Anyway, i am about to leave my vorpX 2D experience for a couple of hours now and try using it for “what it was made originally” for my first time ever on vorpX.

….just hope people are fast with replying in the troubleshooting section tho…LOL.

The game came out originally on PS2 and Gamecube. If you can get it running on either the Dolphin or PCSX2 Emulator, you can use G3D in VorpX. You may even be able to play it with DolpinVR (not likely). I also see that it’s available on Steam. Since the game was originally made with RenderWare on PS2, maybe you can use the GTA San Andreas profile or another profile with the Steam version.

To play with the Quest2, you need a Link cable (any USB C) and Oculus Home software, and/or SteamVR (compatible with Virtual Desktop for streaming).

Hi! Thank you for your post. I’m using Oculus Quest 2 with Link Cable and Steam VR, but there is no VR for killer7.

So, yeah, i need to use VorpX. Do you think that if i’ll buy this software everything will works in the right way? What about the controls? I tried to change it but it looks impossible to play Quest 2 with killer7. Is that my fault?

If it’s not hooking via Steam, then you can try the Dolphin emulator, but you have to import the Dolphin Emulator Profile from the cloud if it’s not local now. It’s G3D on Cinema Mode though (Didn’t try Immersive). Dolphin has to be set to SBS in the graphics setting. I used the XBOne controller, but you can use the Quest controllers as a standard controller.

No software purchase necessary other than VorpX.

That’s not the problem, I’ve already uninstalled my antivirus and it’s still not working. Is the setup program broken? Can I get a link to a new one? I literally can’t even launch the program I paid £35 for, I’m going to have to request a refund if there isn’t a solution.

Thanks – that’s really good info! Switched to using a copy of the Conan Exiles profile, and selected that executable. Still can’t seem to get it to even try to hook. There’s some kind of very quick flash of something that comes up when I start Pacify, but I don’t get the Vorpx dialog box as far as I can tell.

Portal 2 definitely works, and is very cool to see.

That’s half good at least, means vorpX can successfully hook the games and “just” fails to show them in the headset.

There currently is a bug where vorpX may lose the connection to the headset if a game gets minimized (e.g. via ALT+TAB). Try to run the games in question windowed, maybe your issue is related to that bug. Running games windowed usually prevents the bug from occuring. Will be fixed in the vorpX version, of course.

I think ToxicMike is pretty clearly saying he is living in his own constructed world of gaming

You think? This means there is a possibility of you being wrong, except you´re one of those individuals who think they´re always right, no matter what.

Besides that, each one of us is actually living in his own world…and i am not talking about the world of gaming only, but that is nothing bad, it´s actually normal for human beings.

and doesn’t want any help at the moment learning the actual use of the software he bought.

It looks like you´re the one who haven´t really been reading what´s goin on here the last pages. Someone was rather interested in questioning as to why and how i am using vorpX than actually “helping” me (let alone i did not asked for help here to begin with), the fact that this guy told about this topic being “degraded” makes it even more obvious while it rather seems this topic started to “degrade” once he participated in it…and now you seem to have come taking his place…with that abnormally strong urge to “help” and this constant overused “fake smile”.

If you seriosly think someone just tried to help me, you could as well claim americans “just tried to help” indians having a “better” life, while we both know that there have been other reasons for being….so “helpful”….and as far as i can remember, neither me nor those indians ever asked for help.

Check back here, ToxicMike, when you are ready to use VorpX the intended way.

I am gonna ask Ralf if it is ok for him and vorpX to make personal use of it how i see fit, so when i am not allowed to use it this way and if i am violating any rules here, then i am trying to get a refund…

….until this would happen….you better leave it up to me as to when and where i am checking back here, can you follow me here or was it way too complicated?

No shortage of people ready to help you use the software, as you can see. :)

Again…did i ask for help here? Besides that….could you stop with constantly drawing smilies along with hiding your arrogance underneath this ironic tone, i am well aware of you and this other guy just trying so hard to make yourselfs look way smarter than you probably are…and that is what is probably behind your urge to “help” here, to give people the idea you´re something you´re probably not for real.

To a lot of people, this is like someone buying a hat, then putting it on their foot and wearing it like a shoe and saying they are enjoying it just fine the way it is.

You shouldn´t worry too much about what people think about you, me, or others here, it does not affect our lives in any way, but besides that, you´re talkin about “a lot” of people, which is just “relative” and just one look at threads actually shows the same bunch of people talking mostly, so that even narrows “a lot” down to probably “just a few” rather than “a lot”, but hey…that is the view you have in your own world and i am not criticizing you for that, i may as well have weird views in my own world, but unlike you or your friend, i am not making others views the topic here.

    everyone has their things.

You already repeat yourself more than once with this, yet you still go on. So i wonder why you repeat this so often? You´re either don´t believe it yourself or you´re just trying so hard to cover something up here.

    You keep on doing you.

Was this a realization? Were you questioning something? Oh sorry, i forgot! You just wanted to help me again.

But you have to expect some “wtf” looks from the head-wearing hat people on the streets trying to help you.

People with hats, no matter if placed on their heads or on their feet, are constantly getting “wtf” looks from all other people wearing no hats at all, so i can perfectly live with getting “wtf” looks from just those kind of people.

    :)

Why this forced smilie-overuse? Are you trying to hide something or is there a possibility of blinding yourself so you don´t have to realize how arrogant you actualy behave?

Then you didn’t read the whole thread.

Please stop accusing other users of not reading things here, only because you dislike them for not agreeing with you (…or your friend here), which by the way, seems to be a big issue for you guys, when others aren´t agreeing with you.

I could as well accuse you of not reading things here, for which i am putting up an example now:

Virtual Desktops, this other guy told me about virtual desktops being free and that there is no need in getting vorpX just for the same use, but fact is virtual desktop is not the same as virtual desktop, there are in fact major differences and i could explain as to what differences there are (like bigscreen beta not only having a slightly washed out look, it´s drawing more power from hardware than vorpX does, on the other hand bigscreen beta has a theater-mode view vorpX is currently missing, etc. etc.) but hey….

…you told me you´re here to help me, so i don´t think you need any help in realizing as to what differences there are in virtual desktops, besides that…you seem to know everything already.

    :)

Fact is i put games i am playing on the immersive screen

You can’t put games in the excluded list and play them with vorpx, unless you’re using the desktop viewer. The big question is why would you do that? Even if you want to play a game in 2D, it’s better to let vorpx hook it – you’ll get better performance, among other things.

since maybe a year almost nothing good has been released for PSVR anymore.
PCVR same thing – when you look at the pcvr releases the last year.. most of them are small crappy games. So I’m extremely happy with Vorpx, especially now that I have it running perfectly on my G2.
The extremely low amount of good VR games released lately does make me worry a bit about the future of VR in general.

Yes i also noticed a certain lack of new (and most of all “good/interesting”) vr-games on steam, i am usually not that negative but i was thinking to myself like “Is this already the beginning of the end?”

Well let´s hope not, even that i don´t really care about real/full vr-titles and mostly play on immersive-screen-modes, when VR is dead then so is vorpx and everything else related to VR. My worries are even more when i remember 3D-Blu-Rays/TV-Sets, who are officially abandoned by the industry already one or two years ago (still some people aren´t aware of this and wonder about missing 3D movies), i mean…3D still ain´t VR, but if people aren´t ready for this, as they obviously weren´t for 3D, then….well i don´t wanna think about it too much, it´s still too early i guess.

On the other hand….who would want to watch 3D movies on a expensive 3D-tv set when you can have huge theater screens in 3D inside vr goggles? So 3D could have its resurrection once more people figure out how great it is to watch a movie inside vr goggles (i actually had doubts about it myself, before i tried it)

    @ToxicMike,
It almost sounds like your games are flat on the screen? Are you sure you have 3D enabled for your games? Its not like a flat screen at all. Its just a boxed in view of a VR world in full 3D. Its not a “2d screen” at all. I certainly feel like I’m “inside the game”. Thats the whole point.

WTF? Wait wait…with the possibility of making myself look like a complete dork now…i am still new to vorpX and i am still not sure about that “3D” look of games? And yes, i see a flat screen inside my goggles, nothing 3D, well at least i haven´t tried yet or looked into such an option.

Does that mean i could use that 3D mode (gotta dig into it in how to activate it) on every game or most games???

I already enjoy my games on this virtual bigass screen and don´t ever wanna get back to my tiny 32inch monitor, but then also in 3D?

Since its fully 3D, I think of it more like looking through a window into a VR world. I don’t really think of it as a “screen” since it fill my whole FOV, and looks 3D.

Well of course that´s right what you say, especially being “surrounded” by this ambient gamescreen-light is something completely missing with any real world screen and adding lots to the atmosphere, but still “vr games” do first of all mean something like “being inside” a game rather than looking at it onto a 2d-screen (even if it´s inside this virtual world), but that is still how i am playing and enjoying them and for sure VR wasn´t just made to experience games this way mostly.

i already said it many times, but Ralf should be awarded & recognized by the whole game industry for this incredible software.

Not sure about the gaming industry in general, but for sure the VR industry should not only honor Ralf but also be very thankful for him and his software, i mean in my case it saved VR for me! If i wouldn´t have found myself playing on this immersive vr-screen, i´d have dumped VR one month ago coz from all my “vr-disappointments” i wasn´t even interested in HALF-LIFE:ALYX anymore.

So in my opinion vorpX did far more for VR than they expected HL:Alyx to do, let alone that Alyx is getting old anyway, but vorpX not.

Getting back to vorpX´s immersive screen and wishes users here have made public. I think i read a few comments where people wanted to have the option to make the screen even bigger plus more distance options:

First of all i think it would be better not to have too many options, coz i often find myself trying out different ways for way too long and still can´t make up my mind what is finally better for my taste, on the other hand…i would definitely say “YES!” to the option of increasing screen size along with increasing distance. Hopefully this would be something Ralf puts into his mind within the next few updates, but i can also live with it not happening.

    Hello,
I recently purchased vorpX and have not been able to get it working. I have an oculus quest 2 and am trying to play battlefront 2 out of Origin. Most everything I read regards to Steam. My Nvidia drivers are up to date. I have sidequest and virtual desktop. I made sure nothing else is running listed on the troubleshooting pin.
I get the following error after I make sure vorpX is running, and then I launch the game through Origin: Oculus runtime init failed. vorpX will not work correctly. Oculus runtime error: Couldn’t load libOVRRT. (-3001)
After it gives the error, another window pops up after 10 seconds that says “Attaching to starwarsbattlefrontii.exe
Then after 20 seconds or so it says “This takes quite a while. If you suspect the program hangs or you don’t want to use vorpX with to it, click the according button and it has the uninstall hook helper option.

Another thing to note – I can launch the game and it shows Vorpx on the bottom left and the screen looks totally differnent and the resolution is much lower, but the headset tracking does not work, and while in game the hotkeys do not work, even when I try and bind them to new keys.
I also tried running as admin, and from desktop shortcut, and blocking overlays, and running as administrator within vorpx, as well as running the alternative hook method within vorpx config.

    Please help! thank you!

The DirectVR scanner scans through a game’s RAM, the GPU is of no concern. If you experience issues with that in every game you try, your very first suspect should be your antivirus program, which may interfere with or even actively prevent what the scanner does. The usual recommendation here: if you happen to use anything else than Windows Defender, get rid of it as fast as you can. There is no need for invasive third party AV on Windows 10. Windows Defender is more than good enough for several years now. It kicks in automatically when you remove third party AV.

Also makes sense to avoid many other programs running in the backround as that can affect how Windows organizes its memory pool. In a few games the scanner expects a certain memory layout, which might get messed up the longer your PC is running and the more stuff you have open in the background.

In the same regard a full reboot (not switching off/on, which just takes a system snapshot to speed up the start) is always worth a shot. Choose “Restart” in the Windows start menu to ensure a full reboot.

However, apart from all said above the message shown during each scan still isn’t shown just for fun: since scanning through a game’s memory for a handful of addresses is a rather complex matter, there always is a chance of failure and there is no guarantee that the scanner will always work. It usually should though if nothing gets in the way.
