    It may work fine in Oculus mode, I just default to steamVR now since I use multiple headsets. Oculus mode has given me trouble with a couple games before.

    Note that the Oculus app will still remain open even while using steamVR. This is normal. I typically boot Rift and Oculus app, start steamVR, then launch vorpX in steamVR mode.

    Takes a lot of CPU/GPU horsepower to run 3D, hopefully the 970 can pull off lower settings. Target minimum of 35fps is generally good.

    Not sure if this is your first game in vorpX, but if you have more questions just ask.

    Thanks for that link. I’m going to try the Witcher 3 profile as soon as I get time. Which (unfortunately) might be weeks away, but I’ll get to it eventually.

    Gotta try it with FO4 too at some point.

    Probably no way to get that to work Top and Bottom mode, is there? For some reason my display looks much better in Top and Bottom mode instead of Side by Side.

    Hello, I’m a new user here. No real reason for this post except to say that after many hours I finally have GTA V working well with VorpX, VR Mod and Transmission mod for my steering wheel. My goal was to drive around the map in Full VR and although it looks (graphically) pretty rough, all the FoV, head tracking and scale of the vehicle looks great :)

    I am now going to experiment with some texture compression mods (if the 9Gb download ever finishes from Mega) to see if I can make it looks better.

    My PC is not a beast, the CPU is and i5-4670K, 16Gb of DDR3-1600 and my GFX card is a Nvidia GTX 1070 4Gb. So could be alot better. I was getting around 35 game fps which I am going to try and improve upon.

    There really is nothing like driving around in GTA V in VR with a wheel and I thank you Ralf for the ability to do this. I really hope Rockstar consider VR in the next game of the series. I wonder if they have even experimented with GTA 5.

    Edit: typos

    Ghost Recon Wildlands (G3D)

    I was excited to finally get this one figured out. It was cool playing in Z3D, and now even better in G3D. First-person ironsights are more convincing as are vehicles and interior spaces.

    You’ll need a strong PC to handle G3D, and will have to settle for mostly low settings at low res. Until I can get them fixed, terrain is set to most basic, and shadows will be off. But the game still looks good, especially at night.

    I’ve configured FOV and scale to work best for first-person aiming, so it’s easier to check corners and clear rooms. This means Third-person scale appears a bit small, but I think you’ll appreciate the good 3D effect overall. Profile intended for Rift FullVR, Pimax8k alternative to come later.

    **First you’ll need a working EAC bypass in order to hook this game (creative googling). Use for offline singleplayer only.

    For best possible fov:
    – create a 1:1 custom resolution 1200×1200 or 1440×1440 in driver panel
    – in game select your custom resolution and set Fullscreen
    – set Extended FOV down to 0% in Video settings (doesn’t help ironsights)

    Graphics settings:
    – set Anti Aliasing OFF
    – set Shadow Quality OFF, instead use SSBC Ambient Occlusion
    – set Texture Quality to High or Ultra
    – everything else set to Low/OFF as desired

    *Hide HUD elements in game settings and toggle with hotkey
    *Ironsight pistols with lasers are best in buildings
    *Sniper scopes have dual-stage zoom (press B while scoped)
    *Don’t forget your nightvision :)

    If you need ~10 extra fps and don’t mind a bit of light source artifacting, let me know and I’ll upload a lite version. Z3D profiles also available on the cloud. Enjoy!

    I have a feeling I’ll be using this quite bit in the future. I’ll give it a whirl with the Witcher 3 when I get time. Even with the Pimax 5K + HMD I now have, my old 1080p Sony Playstation 3D display in Above/Below mode is still much sharper, and hopefully I’ll be building another 3D home-theater soon using a 3D 1080p projector (historically I did my stereoscopic gaming on a 720p 3D projector using frame-packing mode, so very sharp and I only needed to drive games at 720p to be able to play them without at native resolution without any scaling – I put a lot of thought into that setup and it worked very well). Considering that so many games I enjoy really won’t translate well anyway to VR, it will be nice to continue to have the option to use my traditional displays.

    Like said above there is no FullVR head tracking for these games with vorpX alone.

    The only way to get FullVR head tracking for these two games *might* be OpenTrack, provided they actually support TrackIR input. If that is the case, it even works without vorpX.

    If you are unsure about that or can‘t get OpenTrack to work, please leave the F1 2019 profile at its default settings (immersive screen mode). The default settings are already the best settings for the game. There is nothing you could do to enable FullVR head tracking except using OpenTrack.

    Can‘t really comment further on Automobiista, sorry. Never tried that game.

    Hi,

    After some progress made in the RE Engine thanks to Ralph, I’ve tested a few things with another RE Engine title , DmC5 , with some results to share.
    Prerequisites :
    First of all, you need to change in the game folder, the dmc5config.ini, and modify the [Render] part to this :
    [Render]
    PCTargetAPIFallback=Enable
    Capability=DirectX12
    TargetPlatform=DirectX11
    UseVendorExtention=Disable
    UseOptimizeShader=Enable
    LastCrashReport=

    Second, if you get a d3d fatal error application, you need to delete in the same file dmc5config.ini all the [RenderConfig] part. The game will recreate it from default, and vorpx profile will hook.

    Being able to hook, I’ve tested 2 vorpx profiles :

    1) Recent RE Remake Geometry Profile : It doesnt have any 3D at all, but no issues related to strange effects (like the original issues in RE Remake with some objects in one eye only).

    2) Original RE7 profile : There are some results with this profile. Even if inside the vorpx menu, it says that there is no 3d reconstruction, SEEMS to be some 3D.
    The bad part, is that in one eye you get some reflections and you dont have on the other eye, and it is quite disgusting, but the 3D part is nice.

    The game is graphically pretty impressive.

    @Ralf, Yes I tried all the usual suspects, even tried creating a VorpX shortcut.
    I’ll play around with it some more this weekend to see what else it could be. If I’m the odd man out, then it must be something in my environment causing it. But at least you have one non-working sample, in case anyone else reports the same. I’ll report back later if I figure it out. Thx.
    @doktor, I noticed he credited the wrong person too. 😉

    Headtracking in inmersive is working fine here. There are a few tips to enable/disable headtracking based on gamepad (vorpx menu inside the game). You should try it. If you dont get it done, Ill check my config.

    Tested the new RE2 geometry profile and it is GORGEOUS. Tweak the graphics menu based on your graphic card performance, but with a good light quality, the environment on the darkness is absolute jaw-breaking.

    About DmC5 :
    I’ve tried the new geometry RE2 Remake and the older RE7 profile. None of them works, the game throws a Fatal exit application in a D3D dll.
    About the fix line, you have to create it inside “dmc5config.ini”. If you dont have this ini file, you will have to run the game at least one time.
    Special careful with the DX12. You dont have the option inside the game to change Directx, and you have to do it here on the config file aditional to the mentioned “UseVendorExtention”.
    dmc5config.ini
    [Render]
    PCTargetAPIFallback=Enable
    Capability=DirectX12
    TargetPlatform=DirectX11
    UseVendorExtention=Disable
    UseOptimizeShader=Enable
    LastCrashReport=

    @ Du1g0 : That hint was pure gold! I spent hours with this thing shortly after release without getting anywhere…

    Don’t get overly excited yet, but if all goes well I *might* have a working profile later today.

    Hahaha. It is always great that credits goes to someone else :-D

    By the way Ralf, this line of configuration edit should be the same for another RE Engine title : Devil May Cry 5.
    As far as I know, you have to write the line inside the config file (it is not even there in the ini file). But after writing it, it should be fixed.

    I will try it with the same RE 2 cloud profile and the change in the ini file.

    Cheers,

    On Reddit also says something about problems with the mod, I quote ….This is working for me. But the only feature of the mod that I want is the better head tracking. I wish there was an option to disable everything else the mod does. The mod causes some issues. When I try to get into some vehicles, or any airplane, they will just disappear. There are also some issues with the controls being off. These issues make me want to just stick with vorpX by itself, even though it’s lacking this mod’s excellent head tracking.

    I would like to use with the mod only the VR option, is there a way to deactivate the rest of the mod?

    Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (G3D)

    Probably still my favorite Battlefield game. G3D is looking good here, shadows included. Weapon placement is not perfect, but I’m happy with the way this game looks in VR. FOV is adjustable in multiplayer but not singleplayer, so I’ve configured two separate profiles.

      Battlefield: Bad Company 2 MP (Multiplayer)

    – ensure BFBC2Game.exe is assigned in vorpX config app
    – FOV setup open: C:\Users\….\Documents\BFBC2… settings.ini
    Find and change value to:
    Fov=74
    – use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440)

    *vorpX Shadow Treatment toggles minor shadow/skybox glitches
    *Has moderate edge culling from FOV Enhancement
    *Cinema best for 8K with pitool small fov
    *Rift may prefer fullVR/immersive modes
    *Click Search button to populate empty server browser

      Battlefield: Bad Company 2 SP (Singleplayer)

    – ensure BFBC2Game.exe is assigned in vorpX config app
    – use a 21:9 resolution (3440×1440)

    *Has considerable top and bottom edge culling due to extreme FOV Enhancement, though not so noticeable when looking straight ahead
    *Immersive/fullVR modes best for Rift, Pimax8k should use cinema mode with Low pitool fov

    Medal of Honor 2010 Multiplayer (G3D)

    Got the Frostbite multiplayer working in G3D now. It’s not the popular favorite nor super active anymore, but you can still find a couple dozen playing at times. Beware though, these longtime players are lethal.

    You’ll need to download a PunkBuster update from Evenbalance to connect to servers. Works online with vorpX.

    – FOV setup open: Origin Games\Medal of Honor\Engine\Config…BaseEngine.ini
    Find and change value to:
    FOVAngle=90.000000
    – launch with MoHMPGame.exe from game directory MP folder
    – use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440)

    *set graphics to medium if getting crashes
    *vorpX Shadow Treatment toggles friendly/objective HUD markers
    *cinema mode best for Pimax8K, Rift may prefer immersive/fullVR modes
    *See here for singleplayer profiles

    This is what Multiplayer looks like in case you’ve forgotten:

    As always, new profiles can be found on the vorpX cloud. Enjoy.

    Here’s some STO in G3D that a few people have been asking for lately. Got lucky with a Unity5 base, and after a couple nights of tuning I think the profile turned out pretty well. I hope it helps you guys enjoy the game even more. Now on the vorpX cloud:

    Star Trek Online (G3D)

    Zoomed-in immersive screen is default (most natural way to play), but fullVR is still plausible thanks to the games customizable HUD. It takes a bit more effort to play in full, but adds truer 3D scale and optional headtracking for the first person mode. Try them both to see which you prefer.

    – in vorpX config app, exclude launcher “Star Trek Onilne.exe” from game’s directory (we will hook GameClient.exe instead)
    – use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440) in Fullscreen mode
    – Shadows to OFF is recommended
    – in game FOV setup: copy/paste command into chat window

    /gfxsetdefaultfov 90

    (Should only need to be done once ever)

    *Optional first person mode setup – reassign the Captain’s Log “L” key to another key in game, then copy/paste commands into chat window:

    /bind L “cam_distance_interp_speed 0”
    /bind Lbutton “CamMouseLook 0”

    (Needs to be done every game launch. To enter first person, back camera into a wall until avatar is invisible. Pressing L will now lock this camera distance. for headtracking, assign a mouse look toggle key to enable freelook, or press B to enable shooter controls. Press Home key to restore 3rd person.)

    *F12 for game HUD adjustment
    *vorpX HUD sliders also available, adjust the depth to your comfort. Near looks better for RPG controls, but Far looks better for reticle aiming with shooter controls.
    *NPC/target selection outlines look wrong in G3D, so are assigned to Shadow Treatment OFF. Turn them on by setting Shadow Treatment to Auto in vorpX delete menu.
    *Pimax8K should use cinema mode fullzoom and reduce strength to 1.04

    Now you should be set to boldly go in VR. Engage!

    The installer is a common third party installer used by literally thousands of applications. If it fails to expand your ‘Documents’ folder location correctly, something has to be messed up. All I can recommend is trying to temporarily set the folder path to the default location for the installation. The only file currently installed there by vorpX is an optional background image for cinema mode.

    Might be worth it to find a permanent solution though for the messed up environment variable expansion as this issue probably will affect other applications too. Also once installed vorpX accesses the ‘Documents’ folder sometimes to optimize game settings. I have no idea whether vorpX itself will suffer from the same problem as the installer, but if it also fails due to your broken setup, some of vorpX’s auto game configuration features would not work for you.

    BTW: Might be unrelated, but get rid of Norton AV. One of those AV programs that may prevent vorpX from hooking games correctly. Windows built-in Defender is less invasive and at least as good these days.

    Don’t think I’ve ever seen Fov Enhancement affect the HUD layer before, strange. Also, changing to Z3D should have zeroed all enhancement as that is a G3D only feature. Might be worth checking that you were using the right Z3D/G3D switch key (not the disable 3D key), if this is quicker than zeroing your Enhancement each time.

    Anyway, glad you’ve solved the problem, and that you are enjoying the Pimax8k – which is what I use for vorpX now and loving it.

    It can be hard to push fov high enough in most games to look good in Pimax fullVR (vertical almost more so than horizontal). If headtracking is less important to you, I can recommend maxing out the cinema mode with full zoom and full curve (cinema fullscreen as I call it) while using a 16:9 res (2560×1440 or 4k), sometimes 21:9 even. On Pimax normal fov, this is just enough to hide the side edges of the screen, and hide most render culling from moderate enhancement. Something about the curved nature of the screen allows me to get away with much lower fov values and still feel “correct”. This is my favorite way to play anyway.

    Enjoy Liberty City.
