It’s true that it has great native support…BUT the dev was unable or unwilling to allow/facilitate the usage of anything but dual analog game controllers.

HOTAS will work if you have the patience of a tree and don’t have high blood pressure. This clown even hard locked out input from the mouse X/Y outside of menus because it ‘couldn’t be done’ in the VR mode (works fine in the standard runtimes). That didn’t sit quite right sooo, figured I’d give him and his ‘if you don’t like it, get a refund’ comments, the ole’ VorpX Reach-around and voila, roomscale, gorgeous HotDS. Possibly the most tangible and immersive VR game to date….if you’re a tree, that is…

I’ve been experimenting more with the Exodus Z3D profile and have made some improvements to 3D and FOV. By upping the ini fov to max 90 and zooming the cinema to fullscreen, it is now closer to a fullVR experience. You even get several degrees of side to side simulated freelook.

Profile updated: Metro Exodus Z3D (Rift)

    -ini edits in: C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\metro exodus\e1d….\user.cfg
    set r_base_fov 90.
    r_fullscreen off
(This game runs better in windowed mode)

-use widescreen 16:9 resolution for better freelook
(3840×2160 or higher is good, I’m using 4992×2808 and pleased how it looks)

    Additional tips:
*use AutoHotKey script for remapping locked keys.
x::h (moves my holster weapon button easier to reach)
*for borderless window use Borderless Gaming tool as seen here at 2:22:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0328uIQP4gA

*if you don’t care about side to side freelook and want better HUD visibility, use a square resolution (2400×2400)
*disable motion blur if you like in user.cfg:
    r_blur_level 0
    r_game_mblur_scale 0

Also thanks to Nathie for spreading the love.

I don’t think so, but you should ask their support about that to get a definitive answer. Even if there was, I wouldn’t worry too much unless you plan to spend a fortune.

In the very end of the game, I have encountered a pretty bad bug.
When I get to the top of the tower and setup the missile guide system, the dark ones attack me with a mind game ( i don´t know better words for it).
Normally the screen zooms out and I have to walk on some platforms. But it zoomes so much out the screen turns kind of black, it looks weird, and i can´t see anything. I can´t complete the game coz im walking blind and dying of falling of the tower. It has even destroyed my savegame, so if i load my game on my normal screen it does the same weird bug.

    Please help!

So, lately, I’ve been happily trapped in the world of Skyrim (in VorpX of course 😃). I tried extra hard on this playthrough to avoid vampires (because I always seem to get “vampired” (OK, I know it’s not a verb, but I turn into a vampire). It happens to me every time, and I really don’t want to become a vampire! So anyway, I had pretty much finished the main story and some other quest arcs. But I thought, well, maybe it’s time to switch to a new game (Yes, even vampires have silver linings lol 😜). I started playing Prey (2017) again, and what a blast! VorpX works so well with it. I played for a while in Z-Adaptive, because, wow, I am so impressed with how much better the Z-Adaptive works in 19.1.0.
After I played for a while, with all settings maxed out, and getting awesome performance, I thought I should really check out the G3D and see if that was really different. It was great! Every-once-and-a-while I had to switch back to Z-Adapt, because I’d start dropping FPS, but mostly it worked great.
I know there’s been a little negativity lately, but seriously, VorpX is getting better all the time. There might be some smaller use-cases for this person or that person where some feature is not how they would like, but you just can’t beat VorpX. And if you haven’t tried Prey (2017) with VorpX, then you have to! It’s great.

dellrifter22 thank you for sharing your findings :)

i’m pretty sure that guy on the video lied and just did it for clickbait, it would not be the first time i see this.

    disgusting behavior.

i bet he doesnt have the game running in G3D at all and not even Z3D.

i also tried all the official metro profiles, the game hooks but yeah no Z3D/G3D, i tried to remove AA from config file, i tried to run the game in windowed mod, i tried to change fov (which breaks the graphics).

the only hope now is getting an official vorpx profile for this game.

meanwhile i will play the game in Z3D thanks to you man :D better than nothing for sure ! after all i’m still having a blast playing dishonored 2 in Z3D :p

So despite the video claim, I am not having luck getting G3D with any of the Metro profiles. Not Z3D even. Sure they are selectable options in the menu, but they have no impact on the flat image.

After testing dozens of profiles, I found that a few Unreal 4 games and Star Wars Battlefront 2 can grant Z3D for Exodus. It’s better than nothing, but not the excellent G3D experience of the other Metro games.

if anyone here has been able to play in actual geometry 3D, or if Ralf has any tips regarding settings for the Metro engine, please let me know. Thanks.

So i’ve had less then stellar success getting things to work, though admittedly I’ve only tried a few such as Farm simulator 17 & 19 (neither of which worked) but that’s mainly my fault for not giving it enough time to sit down and figure everything out.

But it got me thinking, I see constant hate on VorpX everywhere because of DRM or how it “doens’t work” but it’s clear it’s working for others so I’m wondering how we can lower the barrier to entry by giving some tips to new VorpX owners.

    So here it goes:

Any hints for tips that someone new to VorpX should know? Most notably I keep reading about cinema mode and tried it once (again with Farm Simulator) and the given profile didn’t seem to work, so any tips about cinema mode are appreciated such as what games you should run in regular vorpx vs cinema mode and how to tell the difference. I can’t even get VLC to play my pr0n :(

Also, We all know the list of games that are allegedly easy to run out of the box as well but maybe you guys can share some games you play that work without having to fuck with things that much (i.e. just load a profile and launch), as for some reason the existing list doesn’t work properly for me, it all looks very warped and doesn’t seem to track properly.

Any other tips that you wish someone had told you when you first got VorpX are appreciated.

The Farm Sim 2019 profile is completely broken for me. I don’t know if I am doing something wrong but its so warped that it’s just unplayable. Performance isn’t even the issue on my end it’s just the scale of everything and head tracking is weird it gives this odd parallax effect or something. Anyone else getting this?

Yeah no updates to FWS in a long time… I’ll give single player a quick go and see what it looks like, if I can’t get the FOV looking good I’ll just bin the game off, 75GB is too big to sit on my PC doing nothing. Why for the love of god, why would EA prevent you from changing the FOV in story mode, it makes no sense.

Thanks you for your reply. Am sorry but that has not fixed the problem.
THe steam overlay was always working, what is not working is the controller bindings of the steam overlay, and that’s what I need to be able to change bindings of all my other steamvr games.

When I press my MENU button on my vive controller, I get the steam overlay, Then I select SETTINGS, then I select CONTROLLER BINDINGS. This is what doesn’t work.
All the other things seem to work fine.

This all happens with that box ticked or not ticked, and also if I don’t even load vorpx up it still happens.

Vorpx must of done something in the startup or registry that is affecting this!

Yes I am getting very annoyed with this now!!

Bought the software for £35, which is expensive, and still getting no where with it after 3 days of trying.
Where is the support from the person selling the software ?

This software has managed to stop my SteamVR Controller Bindings menu working, so no I cannot even change my bindings for other games.

This software constantly doesn’t work correctly with the Vive controllers. I cannot even access the Vorpx settings without having to take the headset of and press delete.

The SHIFT doesn’t even work now with the vive controllers. It was totally working fine, The left controller grip was SHIFT, but for some reason even though the mapping on the controller says its suppose to be SHIFT it actually performs EDGE PEAK, So both vive grip buttons perform EDGE PEAK.

And the seller doesn’t even help with problems with new people who spend £35 on it.
I can see myself telling Paypal that I have received software the doesn’t work and will be requesting a refund.

    This is totally pathetic !!!

This is going to sound lame, lol, cause I had such big plans! Prey! Deus Ex: Mankind Divided! And so many others (Dragon Age 2 and 3!). But I actually got stuck playing Skyrim. I decided I needed to get back and actually play through some of the other stories in the game (Dawnguard, etc.), and I have been playing this for weeks now. VorpX is so awesome.
Thanks for sharing this, raidouk3. I’ve had Metro 1 and 2 on my que for VorpX as well! I’ll get to them eventually (I played them flat, but how can I resist playing them in VorpX! lol). Are you looking forward to the third installment?

Geometry 3D is very demanding to run, essentially rendering the game twice plus the slight overhead of vorpX processing it all correctly for the headset. You’ll need a pretty high-end PC to run newer graphics intensive games at respectable resolutions and framerates.

Even high-end hardware is going to need help from ASW to run modern games. Not only will it help to simulate a “doubled” framerate, it will help for smoother headtracking. I would strongly encourage you to leave it on.

Most vorpX games provide the optional Z-normal 3D, which is much faster. So if you are getting below 45 fps, it is recommended you switch to Z-normal. It won’t look quite as convincing as Geometry up close, but does a good job to give depth to the overall scene.

I know it’s not the answer you want to hear, but I’m afraid you either need to try playing some much less demanding games (HL2, portal), or consider upgrading hardware.

I’m seeking help and my posts keep disappearing?

Ok, I’ll edit this one as it seems to be hanging around.

Seeking any help with a strange phenomena. In ever game I get a red warning about the fps being too low, it’s always showing 27-28 fps. I then start changing settings in game, and it seems to have no affect. Changing in game Vorpx settings also doesn’t seem to help

I can set the resolution high, shows 27-28 fps, I can set it to the lowest possible, still shows 27-28 fps. I can set every in game setting to the lowest possible, it still shows 27-28 fps.

Right now I’m trying to get Outlast, and or Outlast 2 to look respectable, and at least playable. I can set the settings, and resolution high or low, it always shows 27-28 fps, and really doesn’t look very good.

I have a lot of other vr titles like DCS, Elite Dangerous, Xplane, about 20 Oculus games/apps, and about 20 Steam games/apps. All of them play at medium to high settings without any issue.

I have a Rift Cv1, and always turn ASW off, I can’t stand it, and will never use it. I have it disabled whenever I start a game up.

My system is a i5 8400, 16gb DDR4 2666, GTX 1060 6gb, running up to date Win 10. Like I stated earlier, all my other vr games/apps run fine at med to high settings, or more.

Why am I only seeing 27-28 fps when using Vorpx, even after changing all settings to the lowest possible?

And yes, I’ve read all the “essential reading” sections in these forums, nothing seems to help.
