I’l start by saying i have used VorpX with the Oculus DK2 and now with the Oculus CV1. I have played Alien Isolation and Half-Life 2 on the DK2 no problem even at the max resolution the DK2 could display and LOVED IT. 60 fps or 75? i beleive it was, was also no problem and i made sure the game made that target by tweaking some graphics settings, still ran it at high settings.

Now i have the CV1 and i cannot get any game to work at higher then 45 fps, even after turning off all the options VorpX has, so turned off head tracking, 3D (depth buffer etc to off), FluidSync everything off so basicly its like running the game normally performance whise (or so i thought). Even when turning down the resolution to 640×480 it does not run more than 45 fps and can even dip during gameplay.

Without VorpX i can run the game FEAR for instance at max settings with about 200 fps at 1920×1080 but with VorpX enabled no more than 45 fps, for some reason it seems stuck no matter what i do.

What is happening? Can someone help me diagnose this problem i cannot seem to pinpoint it.

    Extra info:
    – Tested on both an AMD R9 290X 4GB and now on Nvidia GTX 970
    – Tested without MSI Afterburner running
    – Tested without Steam overlay
    – Tested without Reshade
    – Tested before and after updating Windows 10 to the latest creators update
    – Checked if Game DVR for windows is off and it is disabled
    – Turned resolution down to 640×480 and lowest settings in FEAR

Is there anything else i can try? I know VorpX is really fast because it was with the DK2 when using the z-buffer. Now without 3D 640×480 does not even run, something weird is going on.

Does anyone have any ideas? I want to experience Half-Life 2 and Alien Isolation again on CV1! It was the best experience i had to date even if it was just on the DK2.

I’ve been trying lots of profiles to get this to hook, but am convinced now that the Easy Anti Cheat system it uses simply wont allow injection. Been trying to find some type of cheat engine to bypass the current EAC, but no luck.

It’s too bad, because the ubi game watch_dogs works and looks great, and I beleive GR would also if only could get around the EAC. And GR is much more the game I’d like to play.

I hope this isn’t the future for Ubisoft games, or that somehow vorpX can find a way around anticheat systems. Makes me wonder if alternate (or less intrusive) methods of hooking vorpX is possible for these situations, perhaps even at a greater cost to performance.

excuse me,can i hook watch dogs with vorpx?how?

Is there anything in Nvidia Control Panel / GeForce Exprerience that will allow you to explicitly select the GPU for specific applications?

Is there anything in your BIOS for ‘Integrated Graphics Configuration’ that allows the GPU to be forced?

Do you have the option to right-click the application and select ‘Run with graphics processor’?

As Ralf points out in his thorough and informative replies, your GPU is unsupported by Oculus. Even though you’re getting somewhere with the Rift it’s likely your PC architecture that stops VorpX from hooking. This isn’t VorpX’s fault.

ok, thank you for the answer.
Could Ubisoft think in any manner this is a cheat ?
Can try to ask to Ubi support.
I’m playing The Division too without any problem.

I was just assuming it would be included. Bought the game before the landmark edition and got it for free when it was released, so I assumed you would also get both when you buy the LE now.

Okay. So I bought the landmark edition from steam again. And there is no source version included. Oddly enough, the game can boot in stereoscopic mode without VorpX, but the controls are not that great. No decoupled. When I try running it in VorpX, it doesn’t even recognize VorpX is there. Strange.

I would love to play it in VorpX. Please let me know if you get around to it. Thanks in advance!

Some UE4 titles won’t even let VorpX hook into it but won’t run in SteamVR theater mode either such as Outlast 2. Curious Ralph, if you’re making any headway on the engine support? My monitor is just a bit too small for gaming so am getting anxious for this support.

Note that I only play games in Geometry 3D (always with a resolution of 1920×1440), as I’m one of those rare people that don’t see a difference between Z3D and 3D Reconstruction = OFF. This might be important to know for people also seeking games playable in G3D.

    For comparison purposes, my specs:
    -Oculus Rift / 1 Sensor
    -i7 4770 (4 x 3.4GHz)
    -MSI GTX 970
    -8GB RAM

As you can see, these are the absolute minimum required components for the Rift.

    5. Alien Isolation:

    – DVR scan never fails

This is one of the most fearsome experiences. Can’t play this at night. It has a clean minimal GUI, correct hand/body scale, runs very smooth at highest settings. A very fine game in VR.

    4. Fallout New Vegas:

    – DVR scan never fails

Works out of the box in DirectVR
(after the scan). Around 20 mods installed, played 15 hours and no crash. I enjoy this game very, very much. The only annoying thing is the dialogue zoom which gives me a real headache at times.

    3. Fallout 3

    – DVR scan never fails

Same as above, I just like the atmosphere in FO3 a little better.

    2. Bioshock 1 & 2

    – DVR scan never fails

Such awesome experiences! Looting is easily done without Edge Peek. Everything is sharp and clear as it can get. You have to rescan DVR after loading/entering a new level, but the scan usually succeeds. Only slight issue: Sometimes horizontal positional Head Tracking doesn’t work after DVR scan.

    1. Fallout 4

One of those crash-free wonders. Despite the low to medium settings to run it at a moderate framerate, it’s my absolute favourite and it’s still a true eye and ear candy. DirectVR ALWAYS fails for me, even when I tried it without mods. BUT…

After fiddling around for days, I found a very pleasant setting:

    – Edge Peek
    – G3D
    – rest = default values

I’m having a blast building and organizing settlements and watching settlers passing by. Combat and looting is also very addicting (much more in VR). V.A.T.S. feels ok as well.

@ Ralf: I’m really curious what your favourite VorpX games are. After spending so much time optimizing all these games, are you bored of all of them or do you still enjoy particular games using your software?

This is the first of these off brand headsets that got my ears to perk up. It looks like a much better experience visually both in resolution and in the peripheral. I would love to try one out. It seems like running two 4k screens would be a lot for any rig to handle and most games might not even run at any usable frame rate. But its definitely cool and if you’ve got a Vive they say you just need the headset and that’s super cool.

I think you may be able to get it to run with vorpx if the headset does indeed run on the steamvr platform. Steam VR more or less in a complicated way just turns your head set and stuff “ON” and then vorpx hooks into the game. So just maybe if this Pimax thing runs on SteamVR then I don’t think vorpx would know the difference and int the words of Tod Howard “just work”. Now sorting out resolutions to force the games into and what graphic settings to use to get usable frame rates would vary widely but still serviceable to those who tinker. It does look like a cool headset.

I’ve gone through the pinned trouble shooting thread and done all of the steps in the FAQ. It hooked once for GTAV the first attempt I made, but was unplayable as it had the IPD waaay to far apart to even read the the VorpX orverlay menu to adjust it, so I exited. Since then I haven’t been able to get anything I’ve tried to hook. Settings are applied on the monitor normally and seem to work, but the game never displays on the HMD. SteamVR stays in the Steam VR home environment and never starts loading. I’m at a loss as to why it worked once and then never again, even after following all the troubleshooting. Any ideas? If a specific game to target the troubleshooting would help, I’d love to get ARMA III working first, or GTAV. Thanks.

For VR a high framerate is as important as perfect stereo 3D, one could even argue it’s more important – especially for longer sessions. With Z3D you may lose the fully natural stereo 3D, on the other hand you gain a VR compatible framerate. It’s obviously best to have both, but if you can’t for a specific game, I wouldn’t hesitate a second to recommend Z3D for the better framerate.

Your brain gets accustomed to the different depth effect after a (short) while, stereopsis is just one out of many cues your brain uses for depth perception, it learns a lot faster than you may believe. Very interesting read in this regard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_perception

    and also this?:
“You can get most games look almost perfect in this regard. And even for those that do not offer FOV control, neither directly, nor through vorpX, there are functions in vorpX to make them playable, although not in a perfect way.

From best to worst here is what you can do:

    1. Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°,
    2. Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.
    3. Set the game FOV to 120 manually through an ini tweak or external tool (avaliable for many games, google FOV + game name).
    4. Use the 3D FOV Enhancement in the vorpX ingame menu (availabe in Geometry 3D games).
    5. Use one of the letterbox aspect ratio modes in the vorpX ingame menu and/or ImageZoom
    6. Play the game in Virtual Cinema Mode
    7. Use the 2D FOV-Enhancement in the vopX ingame menu (be aware that this distorts the image)”

    Hello!

I was trying to get Empyrion:Galactic Survival to work in Vorpx, and had seen that some folks have had luck in using the 7 Days to Die or Osiris:New Dawn profiles.

When trying to access the cloud through Vorpx Config to download them, I am getting no games listed in the window at all. I am showing that I am properly connected to the cloud. I have logged out and back in through the window. I have even gone so far as to uninstall Vorpx, reinstall and reactivate, and log back in.

Thus far, I am having no luck at all. Are the cloud servers having a problem today, or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for your time!

I guess I’m as close to a VR pioneer as it comes. I’ve been experiencing 3D and VR for about 20 years now. My first HMD, which I still have and use, is a Emagin Z800. I’ve had the DK’s 1 and 2 and now the Oculus CV1 with touch. I’ve used VorpX for about a year now. Still surprising how some older games are so great in VR and some are still better just playing in 3D on my DLP projector. In my opinion, great games that are also great in VorpX VR, are few and far between. The ones that are real gems make it all worth while because they have so much more content and replay ability. A few games that are like that for me are. F.E.A.R. and the old opengl game Star Trek Elite force. Was a delightful surprise to get Elite Force to work, I have all the community mods for that game, and have been playing it in VR for many years on my old system. Crazy how that game is so wonderful in VR, the 3D is perfect and fully supported. There are so many games from back then that are better VR experiences than a lot of the made for VR games today. Many of those games are earlier versions of Direct X and not supported by the VorpX driver. Would be great to get support for older direct X games. I would even purchase as an in app add on. Another great in app purchase would be voice recognition with programmable keystroke replacement ability. For my old set-up I use my Microsoft Game Voice. Would be great to have a modern equivalent to that.

(Havent read all sides, only the first 2)

    Hello guys!

First of, I’m damn impressed about this software at all, really cool tool and totaly worth the money (just sadly running on Win7 and cant use all those features now).

But for now… I dont want to use mods or this GTRVR to get just a seated/standing exp for GTAV, because I’m willing to get this VR-experience in multiplayer roleplay projects. Now I got it so far to work atleast so far I’m able to play with it.
But some questions are still open:

    >I dont really feal any difference (only in Display changes) by switching this 3D enviroment. I’m using my own headset for sound and its doing the job good with simulated 7.2.
    >I can’t get the normal controller features to work right. I only want some adjustments with the right stick, but it seams like override all buttons too. A on my Xbox360 controller always starts recording clips, which should actually be the running button.
    >The side-mirrors in ego perspective during driving arn’t real mirrors, or? For me atleast some dont even work prop. or only show the world and not other vehicle/people in it.

Thanks for you help! (sry for my grama)
