After starting Vorpx, start the MPC-HC and open the movie.
Then I can see the movie through the HMD screen, but I can not see the subtitles.
    I am Korean.
So if I want to watch foreign movies, I need subtitles always
Using MPC-HC or potplayer with Vorpx
I can not see the movie subtitle
I can not keep watching the movie.
    How can I see subtitles?

Thank you for reply Ralf. MPC-HC is still a wonderful player, and I would rather stick to it and see you keep providing us with new and improved game profiles, than forcing you to spend man-hours on MPV :).

Keep up the good work. All the best.

    Hi Ralf!

I have always used MPC-HC as my main video player. Everything worked perfectly fine with VorpX (except the fact that you couldn’t use madVR, just the EVR), 2D videos, 3D videos, 180 and 360 VR videos.

A good quality player, although, is a bit outdated by today’s standards (also, the official release has bit the dust, there is unofficial support by clsid2 at GitHub, but whatever).

So, I have decided to switch to MPV. Really liking it, a very good player indeed. However, I cannot attach VorpX to it when in runs Direct3D render (Tried original MPV, SMP, MPC-QT, Bomi, all the same).

I know there is a VorpX profile available, so at least some support to the MPV based players (and we have lots of them) should be available?

I would like to mention that, I can attach VorpX to MPV if I use openGL backend (gpu-context=win). But, it seems everything is working far from perfect I guess.

180 VR videos have to be mirrored (both horizontally and vertically), MPV can do that, no problem.

Also, the overall image looks kinda worse than in MPC-HC (the shape and scale are a bit out, e.g. 180 VR videos, in VorpX settings, have to be set to 150 degrees horizontally, 180 vertically instead of 180/180. Also, image looks more aliased (not important, as could be due to the filters).

Nevertheless, I’m more interested in the question of why VorpX can get attached to the MPV’s D3D11 render?

Have you done any testing with the MPV based video players?

I would appreciate any hints that can get my MPV(D3D11) working with VorpX. If you need any logs or settings, I can provide those.

    Best regards.

You could try one of the video player profiles (MPC-HC, VLC) or the Rise of the Tomb Raider profile as a base for a new one. All three support side-by-side stereo input, which is configurable on the image page of the vorpX menu.

To do that make a copy of one the above profiles in the config app (Local Profiles page) and assign the main .exe of your emulator to the newly created profile.

No guarantee that it will work, but worth a shot.

..no need for any advenced technique. I have just managed to capture the steamvr headset monitor with OBS in stereo.

You must use game capture + capture specific window.
There choose the steam hadset monitor window.
Hotkey did not work yet, so press record before starting game.

    -open steamvr headset monitor window
    -press record (do settings above)
    -start game
-bring up heaset window again Full screen
    -obs is recording now
-click once in your game window otherwise you wont be able to play
-press stop recording in OBS after shutting down game

output is SBS Video which you can playback for example with mpc-hc player

one thing i have not tested yet if video remeions SBS after editing with windows movie maler for example.

    sample video following shortly.

    Thanks for the info Ralf.

I have encountered another error, dont want to open another thread.

When using MPC-HC (64) and pressing DEL, vorpX goes OFF and the Player asks me if i want to delete that media file. – Configuring the VorpX menu key to any other key raises the same problem. It appears that vorpX somehow sends “DEL” to MPC-HC even a different key has bee assigned.
I found a .reg in the vorpX backup folder, using that didnt help. The player wont show up in the HMD at all.

Removing the settings completely in the registry let me start the player but i cant get into the settings because of the problem described above.

You must use MPC-HC or MPC-HC64, Not MPC. There is a free VR player out called Whirligig if you dont get it to work. VLC doesnt work with me either.

If you just want to watch them, you can use VLC or MPC-HC. The video player profiles have a display option for watching 360° videos/images (image page of the vorpX menu).

If you want to import them as backdrops for cinema mode, you can do that in the vorpX config app (“Cinema Environments”).

    Oh nice. Thanks Ralf!

Has anyone tried playing full version of Final Fantast XV yet with VorpX? How is the stability in G3D looking? Does it still crash?

Can you remove the VorpX logo from the middle of the MPC-HC player screen please.
Very annoying. Its a payed product I don’t need the Logo plastered on screen.
If I just play a movie via the normal driver its on my main display and if I start the movie on the desktop viewer its on my headset display.
I cant use my headset while someone watches on my monitor.
Again its a paid product I don’t want your logo on my screen

vorpX can display side by side 3d content with video player profiles. Never tried this with a game so far, but you could try either the MPC-HC profile (for DX9 games) or the VLC profile (for OpenGL games) as a base. Just make a copy of one of these profiles in the config app and apply your game’s main .exe to this copy.

Provided the hook basically works, you would then be able to selected the content type (Mono/SBS/Over Under) on the image page of the vorpX ingame menu.

No guarantee that this will work, but worth a try.

This has been requested a few times in the past and will finally be available in the next version for both MPC-HC and VLC (and all other video players that work with vorpX) supporting the most common mono and stereo 360 video types.

The dedicated video player mode works together with either VLC or MPC-HC.

Download links to these players and other information in regard to playing videos with vorpX can be found on the video player page of the vorpX help.

@ Noble : You can watch videos (including 3d movies) with vorpX either by using the desktop viewer with almost any video player that you might have on your PC or, if you use VLC or MPC-HC, with a special high quality video player mode that automatically kicks in when you use these players. Image quality wise that is as good as it gets in regard to watching videos on your headset.

Dedicated movie players have their advantages in regard to UI and usability. So there are good reasons to use those, not a single doubt about that.

Image quality wise however I’m quite confident to say that VLC or MPC-HC with vorpX are among the very best VR video player experiences you can get anywhere. Minimum amount of resampling/rescaling combined with vorpX’s Crystal Image provides an image as clear and sharp as possible on current headsets. Hard to beat.
