Yes, at least it should. When you do shader authoring for an official profile the changes are part of the profile’s user section. I haven’t actually tried that since implementing shader authoring for official profiles, but shader definitions are supposed to be exported/imported like all other user settings for official profiles. Let me know if that doesn’t work.

Ok thanks, it works! I uploaded a profile for Rocket League with the lights fixed, my friend used it. (Cloud profile name’s Ovocean, you’re welcome to copy my fixes to the official profile.)

This update erased my (and my friend’s) custom shader tweaking. At least on Rocket League.

By the way, you could fix that game for everyone: about every arena has some light with incorrect stereo, you have to go through each arena in freeplay mode and set those lights to No stereo 3D. There’s also one at the beginning of a boost (if the car was halted), hit escape to pause so you can fix it.

    Topic: 45fps limit

I’m playing Rocket League with these graphic settings:
borderless, custom resolution (set with command line arguments), no in-game FPS limit

    With resolution 2160 x 1200 (9:5) I get a constant 90fps on both game and headset.
    With resolution 3240 x 1800 (9:5) I get a constant 45fps on both.

(same effect with Steam and Epic launcher)

In the realese notes thread I read about “Game: 45, Headset: 45 – WMR reprojects”.

Can I get 90fps with the higher resolution?

    (RTX3070, Monitor is 1920×1080)

I started playing Rocket League recently since the take over by Epic games. Steroscopic 3D on geometric mode still works, but the lens flare halos are at the wrong depth. Is it possible for this issue to be looked into?

I am using VorpX version 21.2.1

There is a G3D (geometry 3D) list on here somewhere.

There are a ton of games that support it. The upside is that it’s ‘real 3D’ (which is I assume what you mean?). So everything has proper depth and scale. The downside is it takes over 2x the power of your GPU to render everything twice. Also, depending on the engine, some graphical effects may need to be turned down or even off (eg. shadows are frequently a problem)
Z3D is still 3D… but it cheats and creates 3D from the games zmap. So there’s depth, but things tend to look a little like 2D popups in situations. And there’s usually a halo effect around certain objects as a result of how Z3D works. As well as other oddities eg. in Wreckfest, the road looks like it’s going ‘down’ in front of you. Some Z3D can work well. And some people can barely tell the difference between the two.
For me, nothing beats games like Rocket League, Titanfall 2, Metro etc in G3D. No issues with shadows and perfect depth and scale. Brilliant.
And yes… they should just work. No hours of setting up. You can, of course, play with settings to your heart’s content.

I’ve been attempting to import new profiles for Rocket League. Its strange because I was successful in the past but it will no longer allow me to import new ones, only showing the default profile. This is the only game I know of that’s affected. I’ve tried reinstalling vorpx and setting everything back to factory default and nothing seems to work.

Edit2: I tried to test it with Death Stranding through Epic, but unlike Rocket League, vorpx fails to attach. Maybe it is some problem with DX12 games in general? I used steamVR in Vorpx general settings.

It seems to be specific to HZD. Testing it with Rocket League in Epic games store, it works as intended, any input get’s recognized. In steam, I also tested a simpler game like Brawlhalla over Steam VR, which again, recognizes every input (k/m/gamepad/wands).

Now in HZD, I reset the profile, no input get’s recognized. Now, when I start HZD in SteamVR I -> then go to desktop, click on HZD (which looks like the window get’s mirrored to the desktop) -> and then go back to VR, I get k/m/gamepad input, but without wands, they are visible but they do have no influence in game. I guess this is because through this workaround, my input used the flat path, not the steamVR input path. Due to the HZD profile reset, the game doesn’t crash anymore with the workaround, but I still don’t know where the issue is.

“I still wonder what makes people so hooked with those multiplayer-only titles”

Well, I mostly play multiplayer titles exclusively. I think I’ve finished 3 single player games in my whole life.

To each their own, of course. But I’ve always leaned towards a ‘quick fix’ game.
I like COD/Halo etc. because they’re five minute matches, and you know who won and then you do it again. It helps that I have a group of around a dozen of us that have gotten together for lan nights since way back when we had 2 xboxes and 2 projectors and would play 4v4 system link. We eventually all got our own consoles and online meant we could play more. So when you have a team of guys online regularly, it’s a fun, competitive vibe.

As far as Battle Royale goes… I friggin love it. It’s so challenging, so when you win, it’s a buzz. I loved Fortnite when it first came out. But then, it was controller players only. No bots. And no ‘quick build’ setup on the controller. So people only built basic ramps etc for some cover.
Now you’re cross-playing pc players on kb/mouse, and it’s anything but a straight up gunfight. I’m not interested in having a ‘build a battle’.

I thought Blackout (the first Call Of Duty Battle Royale) was awesome. We played it exclusively (ie. didn’t touch the team death match modes for the first time ever). But again, it was fair. Console only.
I can’t stand Warzone, though. This obsession with crossplay has ruined console games. I have to play against people with a faster, more accurate input method. And to combat that, suddenly my aim assist (which used to be just that) feels like it’s aiming for me half the time. Not to mention it’s the first time ever in the history of console I’ve ever encountered cheaters.
Whereas Apex Legends is my go to for BR now. You’re only matched with console players. The aim assist is subtle. The time to kill is long, so you actually have a proper exchange in a gunfight.

So, yeah… some people love to jump on with pals and play to compete. We play everything though. Racing games. Rocket League. Sports. Old school games like Bomberman and Worms. Whatever gets you screaming at each other. :)

But 3d and VR definitely has definitely got me playing more single player stuff. Just coz it’s so immersive, though. I’d love to, and probably prefer be able to play against pals in VR, or even just in 3D on a virtual cinema screen. It’s a shame most of them won’t work because of anti cheat.

Been playing Rocket League. WAY smoother than it ever was through SteamVR.
    All the judder completely gone.

Had a quick go with Battlefront2 as well. The G3D works again!
    Can’t explain it, but I won’t complain!

Only (small) issue I’ve found so far is that the Vorpx menu won’t allow me to use the xbox controller ‘A’ button to ok some options. I have to use the mouse button sometimes.

Awesome stuff Ralf. Thanks for a fantastic update.

I just got vorpx and am trying to use my quest along with streaming through virtual desktop. I have the vorpx version of the cloud file for rocket league installed and can get it to hook – I see the watermark through virtual desktop. When I switch to steam vr in virtual desktop all I see is black. Can someone please help.

Sounds as if something is really off on your system, SteamVR having wrong colors also doesn’t really sound right. you can be sure that if issues like that would be some general problem, you’d see quite a few more posts like yours here. If ‘wrong colors’ means the image is too dark/bright, you can change that in the vorpX menu on the image page.

If you happen to have a HDR capable monitor, please make sure that HDR is off in the Windows display settings. No current VR headset is HDR capable, so using Windows in HDR mode may lead to wrong colors.

The error you see in Oculus mode is returned by the Oculus runtime when vorpX tries to initialize the headset. Apparently the runtime checks the digital signature of the main runtime component, which for some reason fails on your machine. That’s not something vorpX does, it happens entirely within the Oculus runtime, vorpX just shows the error it gets back from the Oculus runtime. So all I can really suggest here is reinstalling the Oculus software since the error message suggests that the Oculus runtime is broken.

Apart from that please also do a full vorpX factory reset in the vorpX config app (trouble shooting page).

Last, but not least: If you happen to run vorpX, Steam, or any of the games you tried in some sort of compatibility mode (e.g. Windows XP), make sure to revert that.

    Thank you for your reply

    Few test more
Rocket league – default – working
    RE 3 – DX 11 – default – working (3d geometric)
    RE 3 – DX 12 – default – working (3d geometric)
Control – default – oculus runtime error (i do not even know if it is compatible)

    – Is possible that Oculus quest 2 controllers interfere with vorpX? (From myself I have activated link using hand tracking, and then launch everything using mouse)

    – I have closed DS4 controller till game is launched. Just in case.

    – The game was launched in the past with too much quality so headset has problem loading game? i have decreased quality from pc version before launch as VR.

    – The game had enabled HDR and might have some problem launching game? I have set all to normal.

    – I have alternated between DX11 – DX12 and test.

I already did a full vorpX factory reset before I opened this threat and tested everything.

After all these test, I do not think anything is off from my side. I have reinstalled oculus just in case, and did as above, and now:

RE 7 – working using default on Steam mode (colors were changed because of HDR I think)
RE 2 – it just works if I disable “try to block known game overlays” on steam mode. This time the vorpX menu is working and 3D geometric is enabled. (something that I did above fixed it)

So far I was able to sort out the issues, HOWEVER, this is not nice. I had to try a lot of configurations and modes, AND as I said above, if I use others configurations game will not work even all I did. So something is not working on the app.
If you say still is my computer, I think you should know where the issue is. I do not think I am the only person who gets error from oculus quest 2, is just, probably we are not playing same games on vorpX using oculus quest 2 as it seems it depends about the game.

Oculus runtime error still there after all these checks.

“Without g3d its got paper mario levels of 3D. Looks terrible and obviously causes even more bugs. I have yet to find a game thats even slightly more enjoyable with vorpx after 30 mins.”

Personally I love the 3D effect. Works great for this type of graphically intense AAA game and looks good enough for me even though I do agree that G3D has better 3D reconstruction albeit with a major performance hit. But honestly the Z3D effect looks fantastic on Cyberpunk. Feels like an extremely well 3D done conversion of a movie shot in 2D (Edge of Tomorrow or Dr Strange for example) and with minimal performance impact.

Also I already have 22 hours with VorpX in Cyberpunk (Z3D). 110 hours in Rocket League (G3D) And 250 hours in New Vegas (G3D; Direct VR, stood room scale using a wireless Xbox).

With Cyberpunk I am playing this on my Vive with VorpX instead of playing on my 70 inch 4k TV that the PC is hooked up to.

    Same here for RocketLeague.

Since the last major vorpX update (21.1.0) I get random massive fps drops.
The stuttering happens in intervals of about 3-10s, last for 0.5-3s and feel like fps drop to 5 or so.
The game did run perfectly smooth before the update.

    more debugging info:
The vorpX framerate counter shows a solid 90fps/90fps for game and headset all the time, ie. before, during and after the stuttering.
The RocketLeague in-game performance graphs show no peaks whatsoever.
I changed every configuration I could find in vorpX, in-game and NVIDIA panel (incl. custom resolutions) but nothing seemd to make the problem better or worse.
I usually use the TechnoGoat vorpX profile as a basis, but also tried the vorpX default profile.
RocketLeague itself updated a couple of days before vorpX and started Season 2 on exactly the same date as the vorpX update.

    hardware:
    Rift CV1 on a RTX3070 rockrockRyzen 5.

Alright after I updated VorpX and told Windows Defender to “allow” it, Rocket League works. Turns out I wasn’t running 21.1.0 (though VorpX did update before I started so I thought I was on the latest version but wasn’t). I didn’t need to use hook helper.

Sorry about taking up your time Ralf. Next time I will also post up what version of VorpX I am running.

Multiplayer isn’t working on Rocket League but that has nothing to do with VorpX since it happens even when VorpX is off.
