    Hello,

    Having a problem with Skyrim.

Every other game I’ve tried works fine, including other Steam games. I’ve made a vorpX desktop shortcut for TESV. The game launches, but in regular mode.

Resolution for both the monitor and the game is set to 1280×800, and it’s a new game install. I’ve tried having both the OR and monitor as the clone source.

The only thing I can think of that’s strange is that clicking both TESV and SkyrimLauncher bring up the launcher display… in other words, clicking TESV doesn’t immediately launch the game, like I thought it should. I’m stumped.

Forcing DX9 is exactly what you have to do, G3D should work that way.

Just to be sure, please check first whether there is a d3d9.dll present in your Dirt 3 directory. Remove it if you find one.

If you checked that, and it still doesn’t work, try to create a vorpX shortcut for Dirt 3 (see the trouble shooting sticky for details). Despite not working correctly with some Steam/Uplay/Origin games these shortcuts hook more reliable than the auto detection.

    Hope that helps.

@all: It’s all but quiet here. The next update with support for ~20 more games will be out shortly.

Updates are issued automatically when they become available, similar to the Steam update process.

Yes, non-Steam games do also work. vorpX tries to hook into every DX9-DX11 game that you start, regardless how it is started.

    Hi,

I’m after some much needed help. Before I start I feel I should warn you..

I’ve only used macs for the past few years, so I’ve turned into a PC n00b.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but really need some help. One of the big draws of the rift and VorpX was playing racing games and Grid is high on my list of must plays however, despite it being listed as supported it just crashes out every time.

The video and sound stutter then the .exe stops responding.

I’ve put -dx9 in the launch option for Steam and disabled SLI but yeah.. I’m lost now!

PC spec is intel i5 4670k, 8gb ram and gtx 760 sli.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Can you use non-steam games?

    Hi Ralf/everyone.

I recently got left 4 dead 2 on the steam sale, but Vorpx does not seem to work with it. When I start Left 4 dead 2, it starts normally without vorpx turning the screen stereo. When I exit the game I then notice vorpx is no longer running. I’ve double and tripple checked this. Turn on Vorpx via Vorpx Control shortcut, verify its running in task manager and in the side tray, run left 4 dead 2, exit left 4 dead 2, and vorpx is no longer running.

The other two games I have recently ran with Vorpx is BF4 and Dirt 3, no isses with either of them. Vorpx is still running when I exit either of them.

    Any ideas? My setup is:

    – Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit).
    – 16 Gig Ram
    – intel i7-4770 3.40GHz
    – Asus GTX 770 Nvidia GeForce DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

I got Vorpx about a month ago and I’m having serious concerns about the progress of this application. I haven’t seen ANY news on an upcoming update and I can only play half of my Steam games! I only have like 8 games too, and I can’t even play Portal 2, which is advertised to work! I even created a Vorpx shortcut for Portal 2 to get it working, yet it will only crash after 2 minutes of gameplay. Is this program going to be coming out of beta, or am I going to have to fight for a refund? I feel robbed.

I purchased VorpX earlier today, and I cannot get it to work with any games. None. No matter what troubleshooting I attempt, nothing works. The tray icon is visible, and I appear to be able to configure settings within it, but it doesn’t hook into ANY game I try. When I start Skyrim, for instance, whether through Steam or a VorpX shortcut, it just displays regularly. I’m not sure what else I am supposed to do. The Oculus works fine, as I can play any natively supported games without any issue.

    Hi ocus,

Please make sure that you use the latest vorpX version (should show 0.64 in the bottom left corner with working games), versions prior to 0.64 do not work with COD:Ghosts.

If the auto update didn’t work for you, you can simply use your original installer to update. It will always fetch the latest version.

Other than that there is nothing special to consider normally, you should be able to run the game from Steam like always.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi ScarletSpirit,

Please make sure that you do not have any d3d9.dll in your Fallout NV folder (for example from an ENB mod), which conflicts with vorpX.

If you create shortcuts, you should create them for the main .EXE, not the launcher. In case of New Vegas that would be FalloutNV.exe.

If that doesn’t help: There are problems with Steam, which affect seemingly random games on different machines. Maybe that’s the case here. This is being worked on and will be fixed (hopefully in all cases) with the next update, due sometime next week.

    Hope, that helps.

    Hi Steampunkgears,

not sure what might be the issue here. Did you try with a clean and unmodded install of Skyrim? Skyrim is not known to cause issues normally. The Script Extender that is requested on that page might cause issues for example (although it seems to work in general).

One general thing you could try is to disable your virus scanner temporarily and see whether that helps. There might be a conflict between its memory protection and the way vorpX hooks into games.

If you haven’t done so before, please also take a look at the trouble shooting sticky.

I’m not too surprised about that, this is pretty much the same with the general Steam issue, that also happens on seemingly random machines (with seemingly random games). What surprises me more is that it happens thirty seconds into the game. But who knows what Steam does…

Be it as it may, there is a good chance that the coming update will solve this, provided it is indeed related to the general Steam problem.

    Hi pac0master,

Your DeusEx problem might be related to a general Steam issue, which affects random games on random machines. Most likely a conflict between Steams copy protection and the way vorpX attaches itself to games. The next update, which is due sometime this week, has some changes in this regard, so there is a chance that your DXHR issue will be resolved, provided it is related.

Not sure what the issue with Black Mesa might be, since I don’t think it uses any copy protection. Can’t replicate the issue here, unfortunately.

If that is the case, then there is some hope that the changes done to avoid startup crashes with some Steam games will also help with this issue. It would fit in so far as these issues also do not affect everyone.

Keep your fingers crossed, the update will be available within a week.
