Cool cool! A week or 2 isn’t a big deal. Just nice to know a ballpark, so thx.

In Non DirectVR titles, not having a proper Y lock is really disorienting (the built in one, doesn’t work when I move my head up and down) but I’ve seen a few people who modified those old ball mice and took out the Y axis from them, resulting in a great experience

What a good idea. I use a trackball mouse and have 3 of them NIB. Time to modify the one I currently use for VR.

DirectVR games always work very well for me tracking wise, It’s just a pain to figure out the 3d scale, which doesn’t get set automatically.

VorpX allowed me to finally achieve one of my childhood dreams, and that is play Left 4 Dead (2) in VR, it worked flawlessly with DirectVR, if you ever really wanted to play one of your favourite games in VR, and they are supported with DirectVR, I’d jump on it right away, easily worth the money I spent on it.

I’ll have my fingers (and balls) crossed for other 3rd person games too, like AC:Origins, ME:Andromeda, Wildlands, Blacklist, etc.
Not expecting, but a guy can hope…. :)

Ralf dude…. you gotta stop teasing us already. We’ve got a case of the vorpX blue balls and this isn’t helping.

I have disabled self shadows and some other shadows in the ini file.DynamicLights=False
    DynamicShadows=False
    bAllowLightShafts=False
But facial shadows still look bad and many shadows in the game don’t render in both eyes.
I know the water reflections are broke – but does anyone know how to fix or disable the shadows in dishonored?

    Hello,

I purchased the Oculus yesterday and I need help getting it to run with non-VR games. It’s become extremely frustrating due to a mix of being a complete newbie at this.

The non-VR games I’d like to play with the Oculus Rift:

    – Star Trek Online
    – World of Warships
    – Skyrim

They’re both F2P games and both play in 3rd person perspective. Now, I understand they are not VR games but I would at least want the headtracking to function as the camera view rotation and I would like the game HUD to be visible without having to literally move my head to the far right or far left to see stuff that is normally in the bottom left/right corner of the screen (if possible).

I tried using the Skyrim profile but the game was horrible in image quality (it looked extremely pixelated even up close..nothing like I see youtube videos of people playing it in VR) and no matter what settings I changed it just doesn’t improve. The interface/HUD is also unreadable and the head tracking does not work very well.. it just looks like I was sitting a few feet from an imax screen and that imax screen ‘followed’ my head movement when it came to the HUD elements. Aka any HUD item on the bottom left or right of the screen stays in the far botton left/right of my view in the VR system and moving my head does not rotate my viewpoint to put that bottom/left/right corner HUD element in ‘front’ of me. Only way to ‘see’ it is to move my eyeballs hard to those corners.

Using Vorpx I have succeeded in running World of Warships.. but the resolution/graphic quality is horrendous and the interface is extremely blurry.

Star Trek Online literally won’t work as the game doesn’t launch in the VR headset it stays on the monitor.

So I’d like some help with this.

    Quick Question:

Do I need to change the resolution the game is set to in its options to a specific resolution? Aka does the Oculus require games to be in like1600x1024? 800×600? Do I need to have the DESKTOP resolution in my computer also set to that so that it works better?

    Any help appreciated.

Ralf would gladly update you on the progress that’s being made but plenty of you showed him that’s not an option. Lots of people would say things like how bout an update, we just want info, we won’t hold you to anything, we just want ballpark…. he gives his best guess then the NEXT post people are holding him to it.. you guys whine for info then you get it and then you bitch and moan just like you said you weren’t going to do lol… ralph learned to not give out any info or possible release dates cuz you all piss and moan if he’s off even a few days.

The desktop feature is great, probably the fastest of all the other softwares.

But there is problem cursor, i am an digital artist, and i like to use vr to paint, only that vorpX cursor at desktop mode cancels photoshop cursor.
Alt+c work only in game it seems.
sometimes there’s bugs that allow me to see some of photoshop cursors.
It could help allot if there was a way to disable vorpX mouse in desktop mode.

Other than that, it would also be great to higher the limit of how much the screen can be curved.
There’s some 3D effect it can cause which is great but it works only if you got big radius, or in other words big distance from the curved screen, so it becomes like a piece of a ball for say, that’s why its better to higher the limit to be able to make the screen more curved.

Would be glad to get some help on this.

    Hey Ralf,
I do understand the “if possible” part, was just hoping on some very rough ballpark timing (days, weeks, months), as we are anxiously awaiting it. As you know, waiting for something really sucks when you are completely in the dark.
Thats fine if you don’t even want to give a guess at when. Just thought I’d ask. Sorry.
Thanks for looking into it at some point in the future.

Doesn’t Bioshock Infinite crash in every cutscene now?

I just started playing Infinite with Vorpx DirectVR, and the game seemed to stall when I got to the bit where you’re supposed to throw the baseball. I had to disable vorpx and play through that bit normally, and then started up with Vorpx at the next autosave point.

My only issue now is that the game is constantly crashing during gameplay. I’m currently in the gun fight just after the baseball throwing bit, and the game is crashing at different points during the battle… Not sure if it’s Vorpx causing the crashes, planning to try playing through this bit without vorpx today to see if it still crashes…

Anyone else having issues with random crashes during hectic fights while using vorpx?

And I actually like aiming with my face, I’ve been making headshots like a pro, so hopefully this will make the battles go faster and I can concentrate on enjoying the story and environment ;)

100% accurate. Been playing RE since the first one on PSX, but I’m not going to play this game because by the time PC VR support arrives, I’ll be balls deep in the Wasteland of Fallout 4 VR. Capcom dropped the ball. As much as I understand platform exclusivity, it is the opposite of what VR as a medium needs right now.
