3rd person Immersive Screen Mode with high custom resolutions:
    – Shadow of the Tomb Raider (best graphics, great sound)
    – Witcher 3 (nice atmosphere)

I’m having trouble getting games to hook in openxr mode that all hook fine in steam vr mode. So far only Shadow of the Tomb Raider hooks in XR mode and doesn’t crash at start. It also runs much more smoothly than through steam vr so I can see the update working as intended for that but other games either hang and I get the message about it taking longer than expected, do I want to install hook helpers etc… also tried that to no avail and some start the triangle fade out in WMR then it crashes right back to cliff house. These are some I’ve tried:
    BFV – hangs
    SWBF2 – hangs
Witcher 3 – fadeout and crash in wmr, game continues to run on monitor
Dishonored – fadeout and crash in wmr, game continues to run on monitor

    HMD is G2, RTX3090 GPU

    Thanks!

Hi. I am completely new to VorpX. I am using Rift S with my Lenovo Legion Y540 laptop. It has I7 9th gen, RTX 2060 and 32 GB RAM onboard. Display is 1920×1080 px.

I think I tried everything and can’t launch VorpX with most of my games. Only very few of them work with no issues (like Metro 2033 or Fallout New Vegas).
Tried to hook it up with Witcher 3, CP2077, Subnautica Below Zero, 7 days to die, BeamNG Drive, Satisfactory, Space Engineers and many more. I added custom resolutions in NVidia CP, tried to change in-game setting and still nothing :(
Help me please! I don’t know what to do.
    Desktop Viewer works perfectly fine.

    Hi,

I am using voprX with Oculus Rift CV1, an Asus GTX980, Intel I7 4770 with 16 GB ram, on a Asus Maximums Formula VI.

All the components are rather old (CPU/Ram/Mobo late 2013, GTX 2016, Oculus 2017). I have been playing games with vorpX without problems since 2017. I finished Dark souls III, Deus Ex Mankind Divided and since many months i am playing The Witcher 3. I play all in Cinema mode.

Since last year i have been having major problems when playing Witcher 3 in vorpX. The game starts fine but after some minutes Oculus is loosing tracking which results in:

    1) image shifts quickly left to right. With one sensor disabled this is a little perceptible. With two sensors its like the image goes several cm left-right. So when this happens i have to quit the game and launch it again

    The the problem repeats or:

    2) image moves slowly to the right so every few minutes i have recenter to the screen

    but then after several attempts

    3) the action to recenter causes Oculus to become almost unresponsive, with fps dropping to <1fps per second. So i have to somehow quit the game.

The time and order of the above 3 is random. And if they do not happen at some point the computer crashes completly. All in all, i do not get to have one full hour of uninterrupted play.

    I:

    reinstalled Oculus (several time)
updated drivers (i have Windows 10)
moved the sensors and Oculus to different USB ports
purchased the Inateck USB extension card recommeded by Oculus
tried a powered USB 3 hub
did a factory reset on vorpX settings and profile
replaced the PSU (which was really old) with a Corsair Builder Series CX750M 750W
    cleaned the case of dust
cleaned the cpu stock cooler of dust and replaced the thermal paste
did a Bios reset and update to the latest version
tried all solutions for “tracking issues with Oculus Rift”: power management, some advanced software for extra functions

Can you please help find a solution to this?

    Hi,

I’m French I’m sorry if my english is approximate (it’s hard to use the good words to explain my problem)

    My specs :
    RTX 3090 (no OC)
    I5 9600k (no OC)
    RAM 32Go 3200Mhz CAS 16 (XMP on)
    SSD Samsung EVO 860
    PImax 5k+ :
90Hz / FOV normal / render quality 1 / Fixed foveated rendering off / parallel projection on / smart smoothing on / hiden area mask on / compatible Vive only OFF / Steam SS 100%

I’m a bit lost, I don’t know where it comes from, I try to play to The Witcher 1, but I’ve got 2 odd things :

1st : Low FPS in exterior like in the town, I have about 50-55 FPS, but in interiors I got up to 90 FPS, I’ve got only 35% CPU usage and 35% GPU usage, I tried to deactivate almost everything une the Nvidia control panel to see if there was any conflict (no vsync, no gsync, no FPS limit…), but it makes no difference, I put everything in low in the options, no difference too.

2nd : When I move my character in third view mod, there’s a wierd shaking or stuttering every seconds, there’s no lag, but, it’s like if for some milliseconds I had a latency and suddenly the game displays a new frame with no latency. I don’t know if it is clear (it happens in exteriors with the low FPS and in interiors with the 90 FPS too).

I tried to tweak all the options in the settings of VorpX, full VR / fake VR / cinema mod / immersive screen / with and without head tracking… no difference, still the 2 same problems.
I tried to tweak the PItool (on/off every options) and go up to 120Hz with the PImax, still the same.

    Tank you

Recently upgraded my GPU and decided to get back to Witcher world

    However I get very low FPS ( 35-40 )

    My PC is 9900k + RTX3080
Witcher3 has FOV slider mod and latest reworked mod

Game settings are all at ultra, textures at HALK, shadows at high, no hairwork

    In game resolution 2560 x 1920.
    Link SS at 1.1, 90hz

I was expecting to get a better performance with 3080..
Are there any settings I missed? Am I asking too much from my hardware?

    Hi Ralf,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I run a Rift-S and the runtime switcher is used because SteamVR causes some games (IL-2 BOS etc) to run badly, stutter etc so is switches it over to using opencomposite instead of SteamVR.

This is not a process running in the background and should not effect Vorpx as other steam games I run in Vorpx work fine.

I have checked in the Vorpx settings and Oculus is selected as the device in General Settings.

BattleEye is disabled in the ArmA III launcher and I even uninstalled it to try that, no joy.

Any other ideas would be welcomed.

    Hi,
I just bought a G2 VR Headset and am waiting for my 3080 to arrive next week.
I figured I would look into VorpX and how useful it is.
I don’t mind purchasing it if it works, but from what I hear zbuffer isn’t substantially better way to play games compared to normal Monitor. So my questions are just about the G3D games.

    1) Is the list of supported Stereo 3D upto date? I am guessing Stereo 3D is Geometry 3D? I am asking because someone posted another list of games that were G3D and had games like Witcher 3 in there, which are not present on the supported Stereo 3D list. And games like Darksiders 3 are on the Stereo 3D, but not listed by that post.

    Geometry VR Game List.

    2) I know that we can mess around and get some degree of 3D work, but I would rather know more about the games that definitely work which would factor into my decision to purchase.

    3) There is a dearth of arcade racing games in VR. I do like the Need for Speed series, and though I haven’t played it for years, I still have bought some of the new ones and I own a racing wheel. Are there any recent NFS games supported with G3D that are not on either list? Are there player profiles that would be considered almost as good as official? Even if I have to play in Third person view instead of indoor view.

    4) Is enabling G3D going to cause a significant performance hit? Playing games @ 100% in SteamVR ends up with a resolution of about 4k each eye, which is already very resource intensive. I am hoping that after turning some settings down, I will be able to hit 6k @ 90 FPS in some of the older games (4 years+) with an RTX 3080. Any experiences with a similar setup would be appreciated.

    5) Do any DLSS games work well in G3D? Just curious. I guess I am mainly curious about Control. Cyberpunk 2077, I would play on flat screen for now.

I really do like the idea of playing normal games with head tracking in proper Stereo 3D and normal keyboard/mouse controls. Just hoping there is support for enough games I like that I can take the plunge.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Yes it’s in the folder with the RDR2 exe. Thanks for the help. I have loved this app. Steam should pay you royalties because your supported list is my guide for purchases now. I loved replaying Witcher 3. Thank you so much! I haven’t had any problems with any games until today. Is there a way to rollback to vorpX 21.1.0 because I’m not playing cyberpunk for awhile?

Since the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Fiasko, the Pipeline of new Games in my “loot scheme” was empty. Bloodlines 2, Dying Light 2, Mass Effect Remastered and Watch Dogs Legion were postponed and the only Game i loved in 2020 was Mafia Remastered. I finished Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017 on a PS4, and play it again was boring. CP77 will save my love to Video Games in general, 2020 and Covid sucks my Passion.

Today is a day to celebrate for all Vorpx Gamer. Over 100 hours of Highest Quality Triple A Content. Only GTA 6, Red Dead Redemption 3 and Squadron 42 are able to beat it. CP77 is a first person game and that is what we need in VR. Its DRM Free and can be modded by the community from day 1.

The most Teething Bugs and Glitches will be fixed by CDPR in hurry, it was the same in the Witcher 3 and this was one of the best Video Game of All time. Overly Critical Point of Views are whining at a highest level.

i bet it will run on updated witcher 3 engine, read more nextgen proof, with RTX and so on, the fact that cdprojekt has already announced that they’re going to release the witcher 3 with RTX and others stuff on nextgen consoles make me think both games have the same engine as base.

that means we can be optimistic that we’ll be able to play cyberpunk 2077 in VR using vorpX :D

I need some help. I bought this a few days ago and it was great. I’ve been playing Witcher 3 and been having a lot of fun. Unfortunately after the update I’ve had some issues.

The biggest issue is that the performance in W3 is much worse. I have an Index and have been running the game at 1440p in cinema mode with 80 FPS. It could mostly maintain that with drops into the low 70s on occasion. Now I’m getting drops into the low 50s and it rarely hits 80, usually staying around 65.

When W3 starts VorpX says vsync is forced on in my driver, but it isn’t. It’s also turned off in game.

SteamVR also says there is a file missing when I start W3 but I can’t read the entire location.

I’m also getting a web browser error message when I open the VorpX settings window, but again I can’t see the entire message.

    The web browser message says:

    “Cannot find ‘
    …:Program%20Files%20(x86)/Animation%20Labs/v…
‘.Make sure the path or internet address is correct.”

    The SteamVR message says:

“The action manifest for witcher3 was not found.”

There’s a location that also appears but it’s partially hidden and doesn’t stay on screen long enough for me to copy it.

The VorpX message when I start W3 says:

“Vsync seems to be forced in your graphics driver.
Set it to off or app controlled for VorpX.”

Not sure if it’s the update causing this but I haven’t made any changes since I played last night. Anyone know what’s wrong?

    Ok
    Another questions

I was playing Assasin Creed Odyssey in 85 fps and all on max , when i play it in VR with same settings it goes to around 40 fps lol …same for Witcher 3. Is this normal ?
    I have a rtx 2080 and core i9

Yes, this is a laymans explanation which anyone can feel free to fix/extrapolate on, but I will try to explain.

For VR to “WORK” (this goes with Vorpx or actual VR Titles like Saints and Sinners or Half Life Alyx) the game needs to be ‘rendered’ twice (basically your PC needs to run the same game TWICE, once for each eye, to create the 3d VR effect; you have two eyeballs, each one can not detect true depth or 3 dimensions on it’s own, it needs the second eye and together they pair together to create an image with depth)

So.. Your example of Assassins Creed and Witcher both basically running at 1/2 the speed your PC would run them OUTSIDE of VR lines up EXACTLY with what should be happening IN VR. Your PC is basically running Assassins Creed TWICE.

You will notice, if youve been in VR for a a little while… most VR games dont tend to be very pretty, they tend to go with pretty simple graphical styles; and the ones that are ‘pretty’, like Half Life Alyx – they dont tend to be very open ended like something like Assassins Creed cause simply – most modern PCs cant handle the strain.

This is why PSVR (Playstation VR) games are exceptionally poor looking. They are trying to do what we are doing with a grossly underpowered machine. More power to them for trying, but, the graphics and resolution on those games speak volumes about how much raw power is NEEDED for a good VR experience.

So, for me – I have an RTX 5600XT. I can basically play RDR2 at 1440p with pretty much high/some max settings on my monitor. In Vorpx tho, I need to tone everything down to medium and low. Its just the nature of the beast. This has nothing to do with poor programming on Vorpx’s part or anything of that nature; this is just what VR is. It needs to RENDER the scene TWICE to give you the feeling of depth and thus the whole point of VR.

We will have graphics cards capable of running incredible full sized worlds like Witcher at that graphical fidelity one day and run smooth – but we arent there yet.

Thankfully there is Timewarp, which is built into Vorpx – if you can get your game to run at 46 FPS, the game will appear utterly smooth thanks to some magic done by VR devs. So, not all hope is lost, just get that FPS ticker up to 46 FPS; it will show you if youre not reaching it in the corner of your headset while playing in Vorpx… just means you need to lower some details or lower your resolution a little bit.
