    @ DADDY: I tested more tonight in both OpenXR and SteamVR and things are behaving as normal. If by chance your are using an oculus hmd, try setting vorpX in SteamVR mode and see if that works.

    @ luka: in some Unreal 4 games it is common to have a slight black tint on some surfaces when viewed at certain angles, which appears a different shade for each eye in stereo. I’m not sure if it can be solved, but it should not be always prominent. Switching between G3D/Z3D on the fly can sometimes cause similar effects, so avoid that.

    I tested some more with shadows, and you should be safe to choose whichever Shadow Quality setting you prefer from medium to ultra. Contact Shadows should be set to off however, as I failed to mention above. Now things look better in sunlight.

    Also, the AMD FSR setting seams to work fine for a little performance boost. You can experiment with that in the game’s Advanced Graphics settings. It works on my nvidia card, and for me Ultra Quality seemed a good compromise for 1440p.

    I have a suspicion that you might be assigning the wrong exe to your profiles. Unreal 4 games are sneaky in that the main directory has an exe (Medieval_Dynasty.exe), but the actual exe is buried in the Binaries\Win64 folder (Medieval_Dynasty-Win64-Shipping.exe).

    I have figured that out actually im hooking to that file. It hooks in also, there is a vorpx logo on startup in game and also if i change parameters in Z3D mode i see that it has effect.

    But thanks for sharing your g3d profile, gonna check it out now and report how it worked. Btw, what profile did you use as template? I tried through about 15 profiles with no luck.

    By default, vorpX will attempt to hook in to any exe that runs. If there is no profile assigned to said exe, vorpX will hook a generic profile with base functionality (no 3D).

    I don’t have SCUM yet, but I want to try the SP in vorpX. it’s an EAC game though (anti cheat blocks vorpX) so I’ve had my doubts about getting it to work. Have you successfully loaded SP into the headset?

    I have been playing Medieval Dynasty recently though, and it works pretty well in vorpX. I added a profile to the cloud if you want to have a go. G3D.

    Medieval Dynasty (G3D)
    for best results:
    – use a 4:3 resolution (I use 1600×1200, game runs heavier than it looks)
    – set FOV slider to max 110 in game
    – AA on highest possible (others not tested)

    To slightly increase FOV and soften the shadows (UE4 G3D shadows are never perfectly matched in both eyes, so blurring them helps) open Engine.ini from C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Medieval_Dynasty\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor… add these lines at the bottom:

    [/script/engine.localplayer]
    AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

    [SystemSettings]
    r.Shadow.DistanceScale=1.1
    r.Shadow.CSM.TransitionScale=0.25
    r.Shadow.MaxResolution=16
    r.Shadow.FadeResolution=32
    r.Shadow.MinResolution=8
    r.Shadow.RadiusThreshold=0.06
    r.Shadow.TexelsPerPixel=0.06

    I assigned global illumination to Shadow Treatment in the vorpX menu, so if the moving shadows bother you, you can toggle it OFF to give a permanent overcast look. I actually prefer the look of overcast lighting in this game – feels more medieval.

    I cannot get Geometry working with any Unreal Engine game that has no original vorpx profile.

    1. Medieval Dynasty (UE4)
    2. SCUM (UE4)
    3. Fishing North Atlantic (UE2)

    I have tried to copy almost all existing profiles using UE games list
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unreal_Engine_games

    Maybe 15-25 profiles for each game, basically all available profiles for particular UE version. Always same result for all of the games above. Z3D always working (with very poor effect, barely noticeable). G3D never works. For some profiles its available, just not working (image is 2d, though performance drops). For some there is no Geometry option at all.

    Any ideas?

    Here is a tip – profile is not G3D(at least for steam version, but I am certain in this particular case versions are same)

    It’s a common mistake to kinda see 3D especially with head tracking since motion helps your brain tell depth of things. Ive done it myself – believing there is 3d depth when there is none, but now I cant fool myself as easily. You can check it yourself – turn off headtracking, switch to immersive screen and look away from screen, then open vorpx menu (this way it wont be over game screen) then switch between z3d, g3d and off and you will see no difference. When depth is there there is no doubt, you dont have to kinda see it, because it jumps at you. Game start is in a hotel room and you get to hotel corridor and corridors are one of best things to test depth – you see it clearly when there is one.

    I wanted to find a unity profile that would actually work (even if just z3d) and Ive tried all unity 2017 (that game uses) profiles from other games of same unity version and none had any depth. Best I could achieve is having main menu background and mouse on a separate plane. Whats more game has 0 graphic options, cant adjust fov or anything and there are no 3rd party apps to hax for unity like universal unreal unlocker is for ue games, no config files. So it makes adjusting a game even harder.

    Anyways Im quite tired of trying like a hundred profiles with absolutely no success so far, so only advice I have for you is to make absolutely sure there is actual depth in game, people have been fooled many times including me (good example is doom 2016 that people were sure had 3d, while even Ralf said it just seemed so)

    first, you need to know what engine the game uses.
    second, you need to find a game in the profile list (or sometimes cloud profile list) which uses the same profile, for example unreal engine 4.
    third, you need to make a copy of that profile and then attach the exe of your game to that profile.

    next, try to start the game, maybe it will hook and maybe 3D will work (Z3D or/and g3D), but maybe it wont, if that’s the case, you can try another game profile using the same engine.

    sometimes for 3D to work, you need to launch the game in windowed mode or fullscreen mode, and sometimes you even have to turn off antialiasing or other things like dlss or other stuff.

    sometimes it just wont work and you’ll have to ask for a profile in the game wish list thread, sometimes it will, you wont know if you dont try.

    fun fact, i remember before shadow of the tomb raider got an official profile, i had it running in Z3D using conan exile profile which runs on a total different game engine, that’s the magic of vorpx for you, but most of the time games with different engines wont hook if you try, ie creating a profile using a unity engine game for a game running on an unreal engine 4 engine will probably not hook.

    also dont forget vorpx right now doesnt support vulkan, and dx12 is Z3D only atm.

    Unbox (G3D/Z3D)

    Cute Unreal 4 Jump n Run with self delivering parcels.
    Most Important: The profile requires a shortcut to the BoxJump-Win64-Shipping.exe with -nohmd at the end. (Game runs without steam client)

    – Required: Shortcut to BoxJump-Win64-Shipping.exe with parameter -nohmd
    – Great S3D in alle modes
    – Full VR with Headtracking
    – Cinema on Default
    – Profile available at the cloud

    The game is currently 89% OFF Here

    I play the Trilogy for the first time, and after 11 hours i have to say it is a fantastic experience to play it in G3D with “living” NPC’s. Forget Skyrim VR or Fallout 4 VR, the NPCs are technical outdated in that games and are not impressive enough to believe that they are “living”. But the Mass Effect Legendary Edition blows me away !!!

    Next week will Days Gone be released with also Unreal Engine DX11 support, and we will get a second Blockbuster in G3D with “living” NPCs. It’s a pity, that we can’t play every game in G3D. I would buy a second expansive graphic card, if it would be of any use.

    Improved hooking timing/safety: fixes some DX12 games not hooking anymore since Microsoft split the d3d12.dll into two separate DLLs a few weeks ago. Also improves hooking reliability with some games that initialize DirectX very early in their launch process.

    Could this be also an issue in DX11 games like Remnant from the Ashes?
    It is an unreal4 game that was working perfect in G3D and it simply stopped working, I can still find G3D profiles in the cloud that do not work anymore and I was also playing it in G3D, so …. not sure what happenned, is a similar bug?

    I had Balan Wonderworld working for a while but it freezes and crashes on certain levels while encountering certain groups of enemies. Similar to in this topic:

    https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/oculus-screen-freezes/ And I get this message:

    I also get this error message:

    The UE 4-Happiness Game has crashed and will close

    LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown][Line:198] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost.(Error:0x887A0006-‘HUNG’)

    So far I tried:

    -Running the game in Windowed mode
    -Turning off V-sync
    -Nvidia drivers are up to date
    -Verified integrity of steam files
    -turned off windows defender

    Hi, really new game , you could be the first to create one profile. First find out wether the game is running in dx 11 or 12 and try to find the engine name via google.
    If the developer uses some mainstream 3dengine (unreal,unity ect.) you can try to create a profile from a game using the same engine. If you are not able to find some info you ca still try some wild shots with other game profiles. If you got it running 3d but you have some glitches then you have to search for the shadertool here in the forum. good luck !

    The performance drop in G3D mode significantly depends on the game, or better said on the game engine used.

    In example Farming Simulator 2019 (Giants engine), G3D is a total performance killer. I can run it with Z3D on my rig maxed out graphics settings and 1680p resoultion stable with 60fps. In G3D lowest possible settings and 768p resolution it looks like a mess and barely exceeds 10fps.

    On some other games which run on unreal engine performance drops only about 30% in G3D without the need to reduce graphics or resolution absolutely ok.

    Played at 1980 x 1200 with vsync and AA off, didn’t play with settings too much
    Z-Normal set to 2 seems to work well.

    Noticed a thread on reddit requesting it so tested it out and it worked.

    EDIT: should prob mention I’m using the cinema mode with ambient background, I don’t use other modes in vorpx personally

    to the op, you wont have graphics quality just like you have on regular screen, the purpose of Vorpx is IMMERSION.

    even on my old hardware gtx 1080, 5820k and htc vive, i had a lot of fun using vorpx, obviously, some fullVR demanding games had low performance in G3D example is dishonor 1 but Vorpx motion smoothing works quiet well, so i had a blast.

    now i upgraded to valve index and more recent hardware and i’m stunned by the graphics quality while using vorpx, atm i’m playing borderlands 3 and it looks real good and i’m using 1920*1440 res and ultra settings in fullVr with fov 125 (with unreal engine unlocker which i highly recommand for the UE4 supported games).

    the most important thing for vorpx is how powerful your computer is, the better it is the better your vorpx experience will be.

    and vorpx is light years ahead of any others 3D software including that reshade 3Ddepth, because of headtracking, directVR, full VR, G3D, Z3D, flexibility of the software, the ability to create custom users profiles for new games (when it works) in a easy way, highly tweakable settings for all modes (fullVR, cinematic mode, immersive mod).
