Push Delete key in game to open the vorpX menu. Turn Cinema mode to off if you want to play fullVR. There is also the option to change/disable 3D also. You’ll probably want to keep in on Z-Normal for best results.

    handy hotkeys:

Delete to open and close menu
    Mousewheel click to edgepeek/zoom out
    Alt+Spacebar to recenter screen
    Alt+F to display frame rate

That your workaround does the trick is pretty much in line with my above guess (locked database file), thanks for that. No solution yet, but at least I’m almost sure now where the issue may be located.

There are a few minor issues with the advanced authoring hence authoring keys are on hold currently. Will hopefully be fixed in the next vorpX version.

I’m also having this issue, at least with Fallout: New Vegas. It’s a bummer, since it makes the VR hotkeys and other features inconvenient to the point of being useless.

In my case it does seem to save settings sometimes, but they’re consistently lost when I reboot as well as occasionally (but not always) between game restarts.

    Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, if the Steam overlay fails to load entirely, then the controller won’t use _any_ profile, be it mouse/keyboard, x-box, or otherwise. It’ll get stuck in its default “desktop” mode which isn’t usable for games, so gamepad emulation won’t help in this situation. However, turning on “show original” will get all types of profiles working, albeit without its Steam’s overlay being drawn in-game.

That said, your gamepad emulation suggestion did get me thinking about another vorpX feature I forgot about: the VR hotkeys should perfectly replace the Steam controller’s overlay. So the problem was solved anyway! :)

For anyone that runs into similar Steam controller problems: turning on “Show Overlay” can get controller profiles working. Steam’s in-game overlay won’t work (at least, consistently), but vorpX’s own hotkeys work great. (at least for Fallout: New Vegas, YMMV for other games)

I have been able to play with my gamepad

First, i activated full gampepad emulation, not sure it was needed.
Then, i modified in Keyboard controls, especially forwad/backward/left/right keys to my D-pad controls

I got this idea because my keyb wasn’t working anymore when i had my gamepad on

Here’s a bit of an odd issue: I’d really like to turn _on_ the Steam overlay while playing games with vorpX

I’m trying to play Fallout: New Vegas with vorpX using a Steam Controller, but to use the controller, Steam’s overlay needs to be running. Also, I’d like to be able to see its overlay (part of the Steam Big Picture Mode overlay) in-game, since the controller has its own menus for hotkeys and profile switching and whatnot.

For whatever reason, this actually works! … but only on the first run after a cold boot of my PC. I’ve been able to play the game with vorpX, Steam’s overlay, and the controller all working beautifully, at least long enough to start making a nice controller profile (even using touch menus within the headset). But, when I quit out of the game and start it again, the Steam overlay never loads and the controller doesn’t function properly. (vorpX injects fine in this case, however)

When the overlay fails to inject, I’ve noticed that I can — with the vorpX in-game menu — turn on “Direct Mode Show Original”. As soon as the game draws on my display, Steam’s overlay injects like it should have at the beginning. This gets controls working, but then Steam only draws its overlay on my actual monitor, and not in the headset.

I’m guessing that in the “cold boot” scenario Steam’s overlay injects itself before vorpX does, but in subsequent runs vorpX manages to inject itself first. Assuming that’s the case, is there some consistent way to make sure Steam injects its overlay before vorpX does (without having to reboot)?

My procedure for starting the game is roughly: 1) Boot 2) Start vorpX 3) Start Steam’s Big Picture Mode 4) Turn on Steam Controller 5) Start game with controller.

(If it helps, I’m using a Rift CV1 on Windows 10.)

Edit: I’ve also tried pausing the watcher before starting the game, letting it start up normally, and then resuming the watcher. Unfortunately this just seems to crash the game.

    @dellrifter22

Thanks man, I’ll try that tonight when I get home.

Also, those hotkeys are very helpful. Was trying to figure out what my FPS was.

Witcher 3 probably defaults to cinema mode because it is 3rd person game.

Push Delete key in game to open the vorpX menu. Turn Cinema mode to off if you want to play fullVR. There is also the option to change/disable 3D also. You’ll probably want to keep in on Z-Normal for best results.

I’m having this issue for every Steam game. Cannot find path.
Running normal or admin doesn’t make a difference.
Steam is installed in a custom location (could be part of the issue?)
All Steam registry keys are available (I reinstalled Steam too to be sure) and the games have been run.

Is there a way to manually point to the config files?

Is there a reason why keys aren’t sent out with the receipt? You have to process them yourself or something with the way the site is set up?
Just curious. I just bought this and didn’t realize that the keys weren’t delivered as most others are automatically. Not a huge deal, just refresh crazy haha. It’s like trying to order my Vive all over again trying to get through only this time just looking for the new email lol. I’m honestly just as excited about it as well since the games are very limited and while the Rift has gathered more support my Vive is not getting so much love from others out there making games work (even though it’s open source….). Thank you for spending the time on it. Much appreciated and looking forward to checking it out with your software.

I did some more testing. The problem is so strange that the cause wasn’t entirely clear at first.

Vorpx works fine until i use my keyboard. Head movement is translated into ingame view movement, and i can use my mouse to activate any ingame vorpx function (whether it’s the vorpx menu, edge peek, or anything else) that i bind there.

It wasn’t correct to say before that edge peek was the only hotkey that worked, it’s just that it was the only hotkey bound to a mouse button and not a keyboard button by default.

As soon as i press any button on my keyboard–any button at all–head movement stops working and vorpx hotkeys assigned to my mouse also stop working.

All of my keyboard presses are sent through and handled by the game normally.

Never heard of that issue before, sorry. Please check whether the keyboard works normally otherwise. You can change hotkeys in the config app. I’m not sure whether that makes sense for your issue, but maybe it’s worth a try.

Tested with Skyrim & CS:GO, with Vive

The only hotkey i’ve gotten to work is the Edge Peek one, but it seems to randomly stop working after a minute or so. I have never been able to activate the ingame vorpx menu.

Head tracking in Skyrim also works for a minute or two, but seems to stop working at the same time the Edge Peek mode stops working. When head tracking stops working, the game constantly recenters when i move my head. No matter how much i move, the ingame view doesn’t change at all.

If i’m in Edge Peek mode when it stops working, i’ll be stuck in that mode as long as the game is running, and vise-versa.
