No joy with the ME3 reinstall. I found a very clumsy workaround…I can pick up a touch controller and open the Oculus virtual desktop. That allows me to see the game window and displays the Oculus “laser pointer” mouse. I can then use that to make menu selections and then go back into the game. Very clumsy though.

Assuming you use vorpX in SteamVR mode: you could try to select a controller type manually on the VR Controller page of the vorpX menu. Currently supported types are: Vive Wands, Oculus Touch, Index Controller, WMR Controller. The ‘Vive Wands’ settings should at least provide some basic functionality, with some luck the ‘Oculus Touch’ setting may also work.

    Hey everyone,

So i downloaded the official Outer Worlds profile – playing in Xbox Console Companion App/Gamepass version btw.

But i ran into a problem i simply couldnt find a fix to – my controller works, 3d works, hud adjustments work, its all good – but my right stick KILLS the headtracking. The two are just not working in ‘concert’… i can take a few steps and ‘look around’ with headtracking, but, once i touch right stick on Xbox controller, it immediately kills headtracking entirely and only follows the right stick; until i move, stand still, and look around again without touching the right stick.

Im not a 100% vorpx expert but i tried all combinations of overriding xbox controller/wasd mode, etc and couldnt get it to work. does anyone have this problem and a solution? if it requires a 3rd party app i dont mind, just wanna play the game ‘normally’ with xbox controller.

thanks for any help and reading this far!

Thanks for the quick response, Still working on this.

I found a problem on the Oculus touch settings under the Delete Key. It says Sensativity Right X twice. I think it should be Y for the Second one.

Only way not to have it run in 640×480 was to turn off option to change resolution in Vorpx Menu. Does this make sense? I at least don’t have edge peak troubles when its running at 1920×1080 on monitor (looks the same in the headset either resolution though).

Wow, that would be great Ralf! Scalable HUD would make this much more functional. At the very least, a simple mod that can allow the HUD safe-zone lower than 90% as the in game settings permit. I tried looking for a value in the system.xml but couldn’t find one.

@ forlaunchcast: I think the Reverb is prime for vorpX. It’s comfy and convenient to wear, impressive high fidelity screens, and more importantly, a modest FOV great for FullVR. My Pimax8k has awesome FOV, but realistically only few vorpX games can handle that, so you end up seeing the screen edges way too much. My Reverb isn’t perfect (right eye has a few dead pixels and a touch of mura), but overall I’m enjoying the crisp stable image, with quite acceptable brightness and color.

If you get a chance, try running a resolution even higher than 2160p for any game, and you’ll discover how quality and clarity can still improve much beyond 4k. At 2880p, games begin to look as clear as looking at my 1080p monitor. ACOdyssey I’m running 16:9 5120×2880 (double my 2560×1440 monitor) and it looks fantastic. It comes at a framerate cost of course (averaging ~35fps which is my personal tolerance) that may not be acceptable to many, but the potential is there for future processing power to grasp.

I’ve never tested if TVs allow this, but most monitors can imitate higher than native resolutions. Using Nvidia Control Panel you can create and test virtually any res or ratio you want, and if your display passes, you can use that for games. Anyway, sorry for the wordy response, just wanted you to know that that RDR2 begins to look good at 2160p, but man it starts looking great at 2880 if you can manage.

@ calvincrack: I haven’t tried all Low yet myself, but it’s possible that low settings lean more on CPU and are not taking advantage of your monster GPU. See if a mix of medium to high settings do anything to even out performance.

It’s a lengthy watch but if you’re interested, Digital Foundry goes through all the settings explaining performance impact. At the 25:38 marker a chart is displayed for the settings equivalent to the Xbox One X, which may provide a good balance.

My take away was: reduce reflections, volumetric effects, and water physics. Medium SSAO, disable volumetric Ray, and dial back grass distance about half way.

At 3200×2880 my 2080ti is targeting 35-45 fps, which is my personal sweetspot. I may experience hiccups in a random open field at times, but I have not felt any severe impact entering Valentine town for example.

Head tracking at the moment seems to introduce unavoidable stutter reguardless of framerate, so best to use mouse rotation for turning. Hopefully experimenting a bit more with graphic settings can iron out your stability.

Thanks! That is definietely the culprit. Since I have the Windows Store version I had to guess the Epic store .exe name, unfortunately I guessed slightly wrong (‘IndianaEpicStore’ instead of ‘IndianaEpicGameStore’). I’ll update the profile.

19.3.0 with the updated profile will be made available again once I figured out something in regard to RDR2 launcher problem.

Hey Ralf thanks for getting the new update out! Outer worlds looks great even tho I am having issues with directvr not scanning and working – it’s fine tho, I can configure those settings no problem

The issue I am running into is controller support – I have just spent like 45 minutes trying to make the Xbox one controller work with headtrscking, it will work for a few moments if you “move” in the game, but once I touch the right stick, it basically “turns off” headtracking no matter what settings I try.

I just wanted to know if you had an idea of what setting I should be looking at – but ya, I have tried everything I know in vorpx game menu to get the controller to just work with right stick for look + headtracking being on and the right stick just seems to override the headtracking once I touch it and then effectively turns headtracking “off” until I move, stand still and don’t touch it, then headtracking resumes. The two are not working in concert, the right stick movement basically “kills” the headtracking.

Thanks for you time and the profile! HUD adjustments seem great and it looks great!

Thank you for your time and work for us!

Did you end up getting the head tracking to work? That’s my exact problem with the controller

unfortunately, no.. not sure what to do with it exactly to make it work yet. are you on xbox game pass version as well? might be something to do with that, Ralf has the way of making it work, since hundreds of games do, so im thinking its an xbox console companion/gamepass thing; if youre on gamepass as well. not sure if this is fixable if its xbox console companion doing something to the controls :\

I gotta recommend, if youre a fan – theres a first person cheat engine mod for Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro – both games run great in vorpx and you can legit have a 1st person combat souls experience… its been my best time with the program was definitely going thru dark souls 3 in VR first person.

Problem is – you basically need to play a rolling 2 handed character cause the camera cheat to make it work in 1st person goes crazy if you use “lock on”… so you gotta learn to get around that.

I noticed youre playing cinema mode, but when you get to playing 1st person games in full VR mode, you may run into situations where parts of menu/hud may be off screen a little bit. Ralf was smart enough to make “edge peek”, which lets you basically, in ‘down time’ scenarios (like leveling up a character or going thru menus, checking your stats, etc), just tap “P” on your keyboard for edgepeek.

If youve got a ps4 controller the best way to utilize this is with the track pad in the middle set it to two buttons – Delete (brings up vorpx in game menu) and P (edge peek)… so you dont have to take your headset off to see hud elements or menus, just have edge peek mapped to your ps4 controllers middle touch pad and you can pop in and out of edge peek to view HUD if the game’s hud wasnt scalable for vorpx.

just wanted to give you some advice on how to use it for 1st person games.

enjoy! sekiro and dark souls 3 are rad in 1st person with vorpx tho!

You can map your ps4 controller to do this per game in steams controller configuration menu

    Hey RustySalter,

Wow I didn’t know that there was a first person DS3 mod!

I don’t own DS3 but I do own Mordhau (and will now add DS3 to my wishlist). Once I get my VR Treadmill re-setup (had to rebuild a portion of it unfortunately) I will be booting the shoes back up and I can try mordhau.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t work. Essentially any vorpx game that allows your vr controllers (index, touch etc) to work should work as the cybershoes emulate the vr controller. The game I tested it on yesterday was Metro Last Light Redux (both directvr mode on and off).

    Cheers,
    James

The shoes register as a seperate vr controller alongside valve index, oculus touch, wmr controller etc. Once you install the cyberhsoes software, they show up in the custom bindings tab of steam vr (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-create-custom-keybindings-steamvr).

The roller’s forward and backward functions are treated as joystick input with with three stages (walk, run and when the joystick hits the end of the virtual range, cybershoes can press a button down on a vr controller to allow sprinting) and via the custom keybindings in steamvr, can be mapped as the left(or right) joysticks/trackpads on a requisite vr controller such as vive wands or oculus touch. They cannot be mapped as keyboard/mouse and only to another vr controller. As vorpx allows input from vr controllers, cyberhsoes mapping to the vr controllers in turn allows the input into vorpx games as well it seems. The cybershoes devs are currently working on an optional software to allow mapping to keyboard as well.

The cybershoes software pulls the x/y position of the hmd and moves the joystick in the relative direction based on the direction they are facing compared to the hmd. As you move the hmd cybershoes polls and adjusts accordingly. Im assuming this is the same methodology used for direct movement in VR games based on controller direction, but this works much better as you can aim both controllers wherever you wish while walking.

Cybershoes do not work with any game that does not allow vr controller input (such as vanishing of ethan carter vr).

    Cheers

    Okay,
Just got off from playing for the last 50 mins. Hooked in no problem, I played it in cinema mode, and it is glorious. No crashes, I didn’t seek out the frame rates, but it was playing fine on the settings that I use for monitor (2080ti + 8700k) I know what Ralf meant when he found himself really getting into the game. I was only going to just try it out for 5 mins, but once in…. Anyway, flipped through the other modes, and I will play around with them, but I just wanted to report in with how I thought the experience was. So, touch wood.. It’s fantastic. Ralf you’re a miracle worker. I did notice just before trying it out, that RDR downloaded another 2.6Gb, so maybe this has helped it to be more stable for those who had problems. I must also say that I have a pretty clean boot up on my comp, lots of needless services disabled, and resources too.

You just broke the whole game in farming Simulator 17.
I do not know what has been touched in this last patch but the farming Simulator 2017 makes a strange shadow and do not look 3D.

Im feeling motion sickness now :$

So I’m trying to get this to work. Everything seems to be working but the head tracking. Head tracking is barely working for me with the game pad. I did the X-Box Gamepad Override option on full which made it work a little bit. The head tracking will work for a little bit and than stop. It will work for a little bit again, and stop again. And when it does work, the screen moves with it a little bit as well. It works consistently when using the motion controllers. But the screen still moves with it a little but when I turn my head. Anyone else seeing this or have any ideas? I just renamed the file to IndianaWindowsStore-Win64-Shipping.exe, copied the Conarium vorpx profile, and then changed the gamepad override to full. I’m fairly new to this, so maybe I’m doing something wrong. Might wait for the official profile.

I’m using a Samsung Odyssey+ headset and my computer specs are below.

    GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 1080ti
    CPU: i7-8700K
    32 GB of memory

sorry drey i thought i knew your problem and i didnt and ran into it too and think i got an easy solution, apologies on the delay, i thought i knew what issue you had and i was ignorant. hope this works

Wanted to add a note for people playing with controller and running into headtracking issues – i messed with it for a bit and had trouble as well, i couldnt find a way to make it work, ignorance of vorpx settings im sure but got a workaround or anyone with the issue.

launch steam big picture – go to controller configs – set your desktop controller config to wasd mouse presetting or whatever the label it has, exit big picture with that as your confirmed control format for ‘desktop’ use

exit big picture but keep steam active

your ps4 or xbox controller should move around in windows now, if it worked, sticks will move mouse.

we want xbox console companion to only ‘see’ a mouse and keyboard, your now ‘mouse and keyboard controller’. do not launch xbox console companion thru steam, launch it normally as its own program

your console companion should now think youre just on a mouse keyboard, games headtracking should work fine now, but youll be getting keyboard shortcuts for tooltips and such, may have to configure a few buttons but your headtracking issue should be eliminated

now if youre on a dualshock4, you can also set the trackpad button in middle for a ‘touch’ and ‘push’ setting, you can assign touch to P for your image ‘zoom out’ and ‘push’ to del for your vorpx settings change options.

hope that helps – real profile will be here soon so thisll be irrelevant, but anyone who wanted to play now, this should work for those controller headtracking issues

Unfortunately that didn’t work for me. It still works for a little bit (with the screen moving a little bit with it), then stops. Works for a bit then stops. I might just wait for an official profile to see if it helps. Wish it was available in Steam now so I could see if that worked better

okay my last resort here – i messed with vorpx in menu settings and stuff for my controller, i dont know if i hit the right things and got it working, but this did work for me. im going to upload my outerworlds profile, youll find it in vorpx cloud saves, my name there is TheBaltar ; testingowdrey is the name, try using that if you wanna give it one last try

Still no dice for me unfortunately. Have the same issue of the head tracking initially working, than stopping after a couple seconds. Starting again, and than stopping. It always stops if I try to turn with my right thumbstick. It always works if I’m moving around my left thumbstick. But than stops when I stop moving my left thumbstick. It worked randomly in between that. I really appreciate the help though. I think my issue is something outside of what Vorpx settings can fix.

It does work with my motion controllers, but they just don’t have enough buttons. I have WMR which has touchpad and thumb sticks. Wish I could use the touchpad clicks as individual buttons lol.

i got it working on oculus touch controllers, you just gotta spend time in game controller and vorpx in game menu, but with the grips acting as shortcuts, you can assign even more actions than with a controller. it takes like 10 minutes to get it set up, but it works. just launch xbox app normally, vorpx normally, have your oculus controllers in hand, go to keyboard settings and just map the buttons out – the look problem will be 100% gone and up and running.. but you gotta put the time in to set the controls, takes like 10-15 min depending on how quick you are

shoot/look around etc are already mapped properly, just use the regular buttons on reload/jump/crouch/etc, then the trigger change buttons to things like companion commands and youre up and running, no headtracking issues and honestly even more abilities than controller anyways
