onetooParticipantI tried GTA V. It looks good so far. I’m using the Quest 2 via AirLink. I have the Touch controllers mapped to the gamepad, but that’s not working. I tried the KB&M but it’s conflicting with the Manual Transmission mod. I haven’t tried my wheel yet. The driving is a bit weird too with the acceleration the left stick.

RalfKeymasterWith a 1080 you will definitely have to settle for graphics settings below what one would wish for. To get 60-90fps at a high res and with high settings that looks really great something more powerful is required.
Touch controllers have to be set to gamepad emulation in the vorpX menu. That should work (just checked to be sure). Maybe you didn’t reset the profile when vorpX asked about that? The reset would have taken care of adjusting everything. I use these prompts as sparsely as possible, but whenever you see them, there have been so profound changes to a profile that you definitely should do the recommended settings reset.

steph12ParticipantThank you for the update Ralf.
i have a question, can we edit/reset shaders you edited on official profile, or can we only tweaks shaders you didnt touch with the official profiles .
i’m asking this, because for example in Elex, the shaders you touched are greyed out and i cant mess with them.Jun 10, 2021 at 9:26am #204570In reply to: Cyberpunk and quest2 – several questions
RalfKeymasterJust to reiterate: please reset the profile to default and afterwards DO NOT touch the image zoom setting for this game. vorpX adjusts everything related to that automatically. There is nothing to tweak besides what I wrote above: higher resolution for a crisper image and potentially head tracking sensitivity if you don’t use the default mouse sensitivity.
Go as high as you can resolution wise. the higher, the better the image quality. Keep an eye on performance though (obviously). If you want you can also raise the sharpening a bit in the vorpX menu, but don’t overdo it.
DLSS technically works in this case, but I would advise against it. Clearly the best upscaling technique available, but in the end it’s still just upscaling. If e.g. you set a 1600×1200 res and then enable DLSS, the image gets rendered at a much lower res, which is then upscaled to 1600×1200. IMO DLSS is good enough for (fake) 4K gaming on a monitor or TV, but with the image as close as in VR its shortcomings are just too obvious.
BTW: For a fairly massive performance boost disable raytracing instead. Looks neat occasionally, but as in most games it’s not really worth the performance impact.

RalfKeymasterPlease reset the profile to default in the config app and make sure that you didn’t accidentally disable automatic settings.
There is nothing to adjust besides the resolution for a crisper image, and maybe the head tracking sensitivity in case you don’t use the game’s default mouse sensitivity. vorpX takes care of everything else, including FOV.
Most importantly DO NOT touch the image zoom setting after resetting the profile to default. vorpX adjusts everything so that the game FOV fits the FOV of your headset, minor top/bottom borders (roughly 10%) are intentional for a decent balance between pixel density and performance.
You may see a prompt requesting a game restart on first launch after vorpX has adjusted some settings. Make sure to do that whenever you see the prompt.
Resolution wise select a 4:3 resolution (e.g. 1920×1440). That works well and leaves a bit of wiggle room on both sides for vorpX’s built in frame interpolation.
The HUD is scalable. If you want to make it smaller than it is per default, you can do that on the ‘Image’ page of the vorpX menu.
BTW: EdgePeek (mouse wheel click, right thumbstick click) is useful for checking the whole screen, e.g. in cutscennes or when you want to use menus
BTW2: If you haven’t done so already, please check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ in the vorpX help. It answers a bunch of questions you may have when you are new to vorpX.

pixelcowboyParticipantTrying to play NBA2k21 with an xbox controller. Gamepad works fine without vorpx, but with vorpx hooked, the gamepad no longer works, no matter what the settings are in the vorpx menu (disabling oculus touch controller, and vorpx menu bindings. Makes the game unplayable in any mode.
May 24, 2021 at 1:32am #204297Topic: Headtrack Drifting in Prey (2017)
in forum Technical Support
TheBaltParticipantHey everyone,
Was trying to start a new game on Prey and I’m getting a downward drift with headtracking. Using controller, not touching anything, looking straight ahead and the characters perspective slowly tilts downwards. When I bring up the Vorpx in game Menu button, it stops and holds steady, but during actual gameplay, there is a significant drift in the headset.
Anyone fixed this problem before? Id appreciate any help.
Thanks for your time, take care

frenchiebongParticipantRalf,
Thanks for the advices, the games runs super smooth with the Touch controllers now as well as the Dualshock 4. However, I prefer the touch as it kinda gives a better right analog aiming accuracy/sensitivity.
To other players wanting a similar setup, please use my Profile Frenchiebong. it’s optimal for 1080p gameplay. I’m sure it’ll also work with 1440p resolutions for the stronger PC users. I’m getting almost consistent 75-80fps (80 is max on Rift S) only when there are tons of monsters or when the Daughters attack you will it dip below that. It’s still very smooth and playable. I haven’t tried other profiles yet but I’ll see what other users have uploaded as well and keep improving on the settings. Kudos to Ralf once again for this wonderful Software.
Highly recommend letting your friends know about VorpX if they are eager to play all future and past games in VR!

VRanParticipant@ frenchiebong I am now also using the touch controllers, to switch weapons we need to combine few things, left middle button is almost like a Shift button. So, if you hit the middle finger’s button plus the left trigger button it will use the heal liquid.
To change weapons, hit the middle finger button and then use the stick as sideways to select the weapon, you’ll see, you treat it like a wheel of choice. takes a few to get used to it…Like Ralf said, in the menu there is an option to set Controllers Visibility to Visible, hands or Off…

RalfKeymasterProbably just some framerate hiccup while the games loads initially. Nothing to worry about if the framerate is OK during gameplay.
You can hide the Touch controllers on the according page in the vorpX menu. They will also disappear after a while when they go to sleep. As a third option you could just move them out of sight if you don’t intend to use them.
Normally they shouldn’t even show up unless you press a button first. I’ll check whether something is wrong with that.

frenchiebongParticipantHi Ralf,
Just wondering what’s that message showing in red when i open a game in VorpX? Can’t read it because it’s too fast and it begins like this “Low performance blah blah blah…”
Also, my touch controller image keep showing in my headset. Is there any way to hide it? It’s right in the middle of my HMD.

RalfKeymasterWith the shift mapping I mentioned above there should be enough options available on the Touch controllers.
If there really aren’t, configure the ‘VR Hotkeys’ menu in the vorpX options and then bind shift+mousewheel click to one of the controller buttons, which will then open the menu while you play. Pretty nifty feature, heavily underused. Opens a gaze based 4×4 button matrix that allows you to perform keyboard shortcuts by looking at a button.

frenchiebongParticipantHi Ralf,
I tried the Touch controllers with the game. Eventhough it works great, however, the touch controllers does not have enough buttons to add every commands for the game. (The d-pad for quick shortcuts of weapons). I still think it maybe easier to play this on mouse and keyboard or on the Xbox controller. (I tried on the dualshock 4 but it has some mapping issues that cannot be fixed or configured, also the right analog aiming is kinda off and moves to fast and not so precise) I am thinking about dishing for a xbox one wired controller for future games.

RalfKeymasterThere are more than enough options available to bind the ‘V’ key to a button on the Touch controllers. VR controllers have two sets of freely configurable mappings. The second one gets activated while you press the left grip button. You can customize the entire mapping easily in the vorpX menu. Hope that helps.

VRanParticipantYeah @Ralf no matter what I do it doesnt help. Like you said, it is definitely considered ‘strange phenomena’. It is the first for me to not resolve an issue with vorpX. Everything I had any issue with until RE8 profile was resolved somehow. All good. Playing with the Touch Controls is not bad. I might just need to see how I open the map (v) but other than that I am pretty much used to the controllers. Thank you Ralf though. If I hear anyone else with the same issue, I might send an error log. Seems like no one has approached with a similar deal. So, all good.
