    Thanks for the interview link.

I remember the Phillips G7000, although my introduction to computers and gaming was with the ZX80 / ZX81, back in the days when one person could create and sell games on cassette tape. Strangely the new digital distribution seems to have brought those lone developers back again.

I am however somewhat disappointed that you do not look like a wizard, given your programming skills :)

There is no need to take off the headset to know the time.

Maybe you’ve never noticed but press the steam button on the vive or the occulus button on the rift and they will show you the system time in their respective menus.

There is a profile for BeamNG in the cloud menu, I presume you are using that?

That guide is a bit odd, because the author mentions trying different renamings of the game executable, none of which are games that are running that BeamNG’s Torque engine. [Having checked , they changed the engine during development so maybe that’s why it used to work?]

Try the renaming trick to fool vorpx into attaching, also possibly the desktop shortcut option, and keep it on SteamVR if on the vive.
That guide is for the Oculus, and might be dependent on a particular oculus runtime or version of the game.

I don’t have the game but hope this helps.

I made a SkyrimVR vs Vorpx [32bit Skyrim] comparison in another thread:

Keyboard shortcut ALT + L will activate a DirectVR scan if one exists for the profile you are using. But it should be in the menu as has been said.

Other useful keyboard shortcuts are in the Vorpx config app under ‘In-Game Key Bindings’.

    Marie’s Room

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/648390/Maries_Room/

A very nice, very short and affecting adventure/story available for FREE on Steam.

Used with 2240×1680 resolution, but will fine with normal 1080 cinema mode.
Too high FOV results in object culling. Maybe a little jittery in full VR.
Edgepeek for reading journal in VR mode.

I put a profile in the cloud but you can just use Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and tweak to your desire.

You could use a device like the Nostromo N52, which replaces a keyboard. I use that with an MMO multi-button mouse, so no need to look at a keyboard.

Otherwise just buy a cheap webcam, position it directly above your keyboard and use the Dash system in Oculus to place the window of the camera’s output in the same virtual place as your keyboard is in the real world. Works very nicely.

For vive you would need an overlay program like OVRdrop to do the same.

Tracked keyboard peripherals are coming though…

The fov memory injection Vorpx uses will often cause pop-in. Obviously an in-game setting would not have that problem. I looked around and there seems to be settings for fov in TSW’s latest patch for very wide resolutions:

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/no-adjustable-fov-ultrawide-support.2221/

There is also a ue4 general setting that causes fisheye, but maybe with a high enough 4:3 resolution and using vorpx zoom that warping effect would be beyond your vision inside a headset.

    https://steamcommunity.com/app/530070/discussions/0/1692662484255931282/

If the fov has really been fixed in a patch for wider resolutions you could also try using a nvidia ultra wide custom resolution [which might make the fov natively increase] and then zoom in with vorpx.

The positional oddness might be fixed by turning off positional tracking or temporarily moving your head back/foward and resetting centre headset at that new point.
Or changing the Vorpx aspect ratio setting in combination with shift + mouse wheel for zoom.

I don’t have the game, but hope this helps.

    Daikatana 1.3

Just as an experiment I copied my old modified Daikatana xp installation over to Win10 and then updated it with the following:

    https://bitbucket.org/daikatana13/daikatana/overview

A new fixed version which allows high resolutions etc.

I know Daikatana was working before with a Quake 2 profile, but it’s nice that this newer version works too. Easy to install and nice 3d too.

I would recommend a separate Win 10 disk with a power switch so you don’t have to leave your Win 7 behind, and Win 10 won’t be able to interfere with boot partitions etc. Then you just switch and choose OS in Bios.
Search for SISUN PW4101 on Amazon. That’s what I use. And Win 10 keys can found cheaply.
Win 10 does have some great performance improvements for VR especially with newer cards.

Currently dgvoodoo on Win 10 seems to work great. Just tested Gothic 2!

    Quern – Undying Thoughts

A nice Unity engine adventure game. GOG version.
Eventually found a way to make it work in G3D and look good at the same time.

Use Vorpx Cloud Profile: Quern – Undying Thoughts [Demosthenes]

Add a custom resolution of 2560 x 1440 in Nvidia Control Panel so it can be selected in-game.

My profile is played on a 1080ti – you may have to adjust if you have a lower gpu.

    Game Menu Settings:

    Aspect Ratio 16: 9 / Resolution 2650 x 1440 / FOV 80 / Motion Blur OFF / Screen Scale OFF

FXAA Antialising on in Nvidia Control Panel & also in-game.

    Other settings see image:

I’ve found it looks too blurry for me without setting FXAA in Nvidia Control Panel as well as in-game – you may not notice.
Turn off FXAA after leaving game.

Lower resolution if game has low fps.

I used Vorpx normally during the site downtime, although obviously the cloud-based profiles were unavailable. You do not have to be connected to the internet to use Vorpx or configure it.

in reply to: Skyrim or Skyrim SE + Skyrim VR Question #172547

The orginal Skyrim will work better with Vorpx. SKSE works fine with it. I made a comparison of Skyrim VR and Skyrim Vorpx in another thread. There are no mods to avoid but camera mods might cause you frustration if you are not aware of what they are doing. I mentioned in another thread UI mods that I use. The UI in Skyrim VR is the same as in the original game. SkyUI for SKSE is far better.

You can’t use your controllers as swords etc. Vorpx does not track controllers as weapons – if Vorpx could do that for every game the developer could retire to a solid gold house in the countryside. But this could be considered an advantage considering how poor sword combat feels in Skyrim VR. You can use/see them in options. Use playerfov setting to reduce hand/arm size.

There are rumours that the upcoming update to No Man’s Sky will include VR support. So it might be worth spending time with other games until that’s either confirmed or denied.
