I have never managed to run FO3 with Windows 10. One thing you can try is NVAC – it is under FONV but the description says it works with FO3 also.
My solution was to install TTW and play FO3 that way. It is not as scary as it seems.

Yes, I think we posted them at the same time.

The new install didn’t fix the issues – the stutter and the zooming. Also running with a lower resolution did not. I guess I need to wait few days and see if other people have similar problems. If not then it is most probably something in my setup that is conflicting with something in the update and I’ll debug further.

@ prinyo: no message should keep you from loading a savegame. It’s perfectly safe to load a savegame and start playing before all messages are shown.

That is if you see the name of the save. Which is impossible as the messages are on top of the saves list. So I need to wait for the messages to disappear before I can select the save I need to load.
At some point of modding the game you need to start it using a specific save before loading your current one as it will crash if you continue directly. The messages – that do not present any new info and get annoying after the first 10 times you see them, just force you to sit and stare at them before you can do anything. It is now worse than before as there are now 2 of them.

Windows Defender is not allowing me to install the latest update. Says Trojan Fuerboos.A!cl is detected in file:C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX\vorpControl64.dat

I see online that other applications also trigger similar false alert, but I would like a confirmation that it is safe before telling WD to ignore it.

Another big problem that sometimes seems to happen – the camera is shaking. When looking left and right the view is shaking, it is something like a stutter. This is something I have not experienced before.

After some more testing the problem appears randomly and is quite strong. So I was standing in the middle of a room and just by looking up and down I was zooming-in on the floor or the ceiling retrospectively. Re-centering of the tracking or re-running the DirectVR scan didn’t seem to help.

And another question – in the change log it was mentioning switching the normal and the shift modes of the controllers, but I can’t find where it is.

Seems I was part wrong. The un-removable message about the experimental positional tracking is still shown every time after a DirectVR scan. I have found no way to disable it.
So it seems there is a new message now shown at the start of the game. It seems familiar, but I’m not sure when it was shown before. The point is that there are now 3 messages that can’t be disabled and 2 of them are directly preventing the user from loading a save in Skyrim for quite a long time.

No, they can’t be disabled. I’m talking about the message that the game supports DirectVR and I should run the scan and the other one that appears after the scan.
The first one is driving me crazy all the time as it appears on top of the list of the saves in Skyrim and I spend several seconds staring at it trying to understand what purpose does it serve except to annoy. I understand that it is some form of hand-holding but even in the most aggressively hand-holding designs those types of tool-tips appear only once or twice.

OK, so it seems it is worse now. The messages still can’t be disabled, still appear for a long time (8 sec each) but the one that used to be shown after the DirectVR scan is now moved to when you start the game. So now I need to wait not 8 but 20 sec before I can start the game for them to go away. Very, very, very annoying. Please add an option to turn off those messages. Thanks!

I think the internal resolution upscale still has an effect, so setting 1680 as preferred and then putting some value for the upscale allows to get to higher resolutions.

However I now have a problem with Oldrim where looking up and down will be treated as moving up and down sometimes. Go next to a table or a chair and start looking up and down. In some cases you will see the effect. I remember this problem from before and I think there was a solution for it, but I can’t remember what it was.

Similarly to Oldrim the game will crash after consuming more than 3.1GB RAM. There is ENB Boost for Oblivion to prevent that.

To me personally it doesn’t feel like G3D, but I haven’t done a side by side comparison.

I’m not comparing the controls between VorpX and FO4VR. I’m comparing them between FO4VR and all other VR games.
The controls of FO4VR are bad as you can’t simply “get used” to them. Fighting with the controls is part of the FO4 experience regardless how long you play. The biggest problem is that the most used functionality is mapped to the very center of the trackpad – interaction, looting, speaking, pip-boy – for all those things you need to hit a very narrow circle at the center of the touchpad. And quite often you cant do that without staring at the controller. It feels like a constant minigame within the game.

For me the controls in the port are terrible (using the Vive controllers). Looting is very annoying as you always need to hit the exact center of the touchpad. Too many times I have moved unexpectedly instead of looting which is quite confusing at first. I would have preferred to switch the functionality of the center touchpad press and the grip buttons, would have been way better.
It is obvious this port was released almost untested, but the usability of the controls when using free locomotion was obviously completely untested.
Using the favorites is also a nightmare.
You need to constantly stare at the controllers in VR in order to accomplish simple tasks. There is no other VR experience with such unfriendly controls that constantly take you out of the experience. I really have the feeling whoever ported the game believes that VR is a gimmick and hence created a very gimicky – in every regard, port.

I have the feeling that this control scheme was suggested by HTC as it is a heavy touchpad breaker.
