RalfKeymasterin addition to that you will have to switch to SteamVR in Virtual Desktop, just like you would when you play a native SteamVR game with VD.
RalfKeymasterFirst please try to use Oculus Link instead of Virtual Desktop. let me know if the issue still occurs afterwards. it probably won’t.
Using VD with vorpX is a bit counterintuitive and more finnicky than Oculus Link. You would have to set vorpX to SteamVR in the vorpX config app. VD only captures SteamVR, not the native Oculus runtime.
RalfKeymasterMake sure to add custom resolutions with 60Hz on monitors that allow higher frequencies.
RalfKeymasterYou should be able to set your desktop to any resolution that you have defined as a custom resolution normally. You can safely ignore any image stretching you might see on the monitor if the aspect ratio doesn’t match, that’s of no concern for vorpX. If for some reason that doesn’t work, setting an according res with your monitor aspect ratio should also do the trick.
If for example on a 1080p monitor you want to use 1920×1440 with a game that checks the desktop size, setting the desktop to 2560×1440 should be perfectly fine.
RalfKeymasterThere is an issue with current nVidia drivers that may lead to spikes like that, BTW worsened by performance measuring tools:
RalfKeymasterIn Cyberpunk 2077 vorpX (slightly) limits the vertical FOV on purpose to ensure good performance. Please don’t change any of that, vorpX per default automatically matches the game FOV to the headset accordingly. A higher FOV would mean more has to be rendered, means reduced performance. Also apart from the reduced performance trying to override the auto adjustment leads to a warped/zoomed image unless you re-adjust everything manually.
RalfKeymasterSwitching the Windows desktop to the higher resolution or running the game windowed may help. In fullscreen mode some games check the desktop res and don’t allow anything higher than that.
On a sidenote: Keep an eye on performance. Super high resolutions are nice but worth nothing when you get dizzy because of a too low framereate. Also Windows Mixed Reality headsets don’t work right with framerates below half their refresh rate, below that threshold there will be highlly annoying judder.
RalfKeymaster@ chtiblue : for Windows Mixed Reality headsets you have to make sure that both the game and the headset render thread run at 45fps (half your headset refresh rate). WMR headsets do not work below that. You can check both framerates with vorpX’s built-in FPS counter (ALT+F).
RalfKeymasterThere are different modes you can play games in with vorpX. The RDR2 profile defaults to ‘Immersive Screen Mode’ for various reasons. FullVR, what you have in mind, has additional requirements in regard to a game’s field of view. For many games vorpX can do that automatically, but not for RDR2.
You can find more detailed information on the topic in the ‘Essential Hints Guide’, either in the vorpX help or here. Highly recommend read, answers a lot of questions you may have.
For RDR2 in particular you can also find intructions here.
RalfKeymasterUnless a profile has something in its description that you are after perticularly just stick to the official profile. There is no real reason to use anything else. The official profile works well and ensures that everything is set up correctly.
If you already downloaded other settings, you can reset the profile to default in the config app.
RalfKeymasterYou can rebind all vorpX hotkeys in the config app on the ‘In-Game Key Bindings’ page.
On a sidenote: VR controller bindings can be easily switched from right to left handed without having to rebind everything manually.
RalfKeymasterThat sounds profoundly weird. I don’t really know what might go on there, but as a workaround you should be able to use the ingame menu either with cursor keys + enter or a gamepad.
RalfKeymasterPlease try to switch the game from fullscreen to windowed (or vice versa) in the game’s video option. Both should work normally, but playing windowed can help with odd issues like this one.
If you happen to play on a gaming laptop, please also make sure that the game starts on the dedicated GPU.
And last but not least please make sure that nothing is running on your PC that also hooks into the graphics pipeline of games. I.e. GPU/CPU tools of any kind, chat software like Discord, Skype etc., graphics mods, generally close everything that can display overlays in games.
RalfKeymasterStill working here with the latest update. Might be worth a try to delete the game’s shader cache (click), although that’s pretty much a long shot, I didn’t have to do that.
RalfKeymasterThere is no way to do that via controller pointing, only right stick mouse move works currently. Controller pointing is on the nice-to-have-list though, *might* come at some point.
