RalfKeymasterObserver was checked before the last update, but unfortunately there is no way to adjust the FOV. Long story short: with a sad heart I decided to not include it as an oficially supported title in the end since the profile would most likely not have met the expectations of those who knew the prior official VR mode.
RalfKeymasterNot yet. Will be in the next larger update 19.1.0, which will be released before Christmas.
RalfKeymasterTurning off async rendering causes judder below 45fps. Do not turn it off unless you can reach 45 safely. Personally I would recommend to leave it on unless you can reach 90. IIRC there even is message in in the menu stating that when you turn it off. Don’t ignore warnings like this one whenever you see them in the menu.
It’s usually best to not touch any of the sync settings at all.
RalfKeymasterPlease check whether you maybe disabled the DirectVR game settings optimization. If so, please re-enable it. FOV for this and many other games is handled by the settings optimizer not the memory scanner.
If you are unsure whether you disabled it or not, try a full factory reset.
RalfKeymasterShort moderator intervention, sorry: there are no written post guidelines anywhere, so this is my fault. Please avoid full quotes, especially when answering a post directly above. Such quotes are largely redundant and make threads harder to read. Thanks.
To add something more interesting to the discussion: the Dark Souls games work quite well, same for the Dead Space series, also Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (Arkham Knight following in the next update). And if you like something a bit out of the ordinary: Psychonauts, Bayonetta, Alice Madness Returns.
RalfKeymasterYou probably have tried more older DX9 titles than I did by now, but I would consider this largely unnecessary. vorpX can handle the overwhelming majority of DX9 games without the need for an additional layer in between that in the end just adds another source of potential problems.
dgVoodoo support in vorpX is highly unofficial and will stay highly unofficial. It may break at any time with no guarantee to be fixed at all. Don’t rely on it unless absolutely necessary.
RalfKeymasterIf you use multiple monitors, you could try to add a recently added start paramater that allows to define the monitor you want to be captured (e.g. vorpDesktop.exe -output 1). Possible values are the desired monitor number or ‘all’ (without the quotes), the default is 0.
RalfKeymaster@ dellrifter: The Mafia 3 demo hint was extremely useful! Can’t promise G3D (probably not), but there will at least be a Z3D profile for Mafia 3 in the next vorpX version.
RalfKeymasterSounds as if vorpX can’t change the ini files. As suggested above try installing the game on a different drive if possible. Not your C:\ drive.
Also make sure to use either the Steam or GOG version of the game. Old CD versions might not be covered by the vorpX profile.
RalfKeymaster@ dellrifter: both prominent entries on the currently-no-way-list. Mafia 3 crashes somewhere in its menu/UI renderer as soon as vorpX hooked into it. MGS5 launches itself a second time after initially starting the game, which breaks the vorpX hook. The latter issue is probably not too hard to address. If the day just had 25 hours…
Both can at least be played in 2D using the desktop viewer with disabled watcher.
RalfKeymastervorpX adjusts the FOV (“zoomed in”) in the game’s ini file. After one or two restarts it should be OK, and stay that way. You should see a notification about that in the headset and on the game window when vorpX wants you to restart a game after auto-adjusting settings.
Caveat: like most games older than ~15 years Tron 2.0 stores settings in its install folder. You need write access to that folder, otherwise vorpX can’t change the settings automatically. If you installed it under C:\Program Files (x86) Windows per default disallows writing to the install folder. The easiest way to address this is to install the game on another drive.
Just in case: also make sure that you did not accidentally check the “Don’t optimize game settings” checkbox in the config app, otherwise vorpX would not be able to adjust the FOV.
Not sure about the FPS issue, sorry. Should run with stable 90fps on your machine if everything is OK. Some games get slow with antialiasing enabled, either in the game or forced in the graphics driver, so that’s something worth to check.
Last but not least: the profile only has been tested against the currently avaliable Steam and GOG versions of the game. It’s not impossible that an older CD-ROM version might not work correcly.
RalfKeymasterWitcher 2 Geometry 3D was indeed broken. An updated profile that restores it is available from the cloud.
You can download cloud profiles in the config app.
RalfKeymasterJust checked Witcher 1, works fine here. Will look into Witcher 2, don’t have it installed currently, should definitely have G3D.
If the default 3D effect is not strong enough for your taste, you can adjust it in the vorpX ingame menu (‘3D Strength/Scale’).
Be aware though that raising the 3D-Strength affects they perceived scale, raising it above the usually roughly realistic default will make the game look like a miniature scene. For comparison: a 3D strength of 5.0 (the max.) makes the game look as if you would be a giant with eyes 30cm apart in reality.
RalfKeymasterJudder: please check whether you have made any changes to the sync options on the display page of the ingame menu. If so, revert them. Changing “Direct Mode GPU Sync” to anything else than “Safe” for example almost certainly causes judder in more demanding games. Same for turning off “Direct Mode Async Render” if the framerate falls below 45fps.
I cannot replicate your Mankeind Divided issue this time. The only recent change to the Mankind Divided profile has been made after you reported it not working last time. I switched it to the new z-buffer search method then, and you reported it working afterwards. No changes have been made since then.
First please reset the profile to its default settings in the config app and check whether the issue also appears with defaults for you. Most importantly please make sure that you didn’t disable Direct VR settings optimization. If the issue still appears with default settings, please send me a savegame to support |at| vorpx com. Maybe that helps to replicate your issue.
Before you do that, please double check whether you maybe have changed any game settings since you played last time or forced antialising on in your graphics driver control panel.
In general the rule still applies that unfortunately in some games that change the z-buffer texture frequently, which is the case here, tracking it might not always be reliable. If I can’t find anything, I’ll have to remove the profile this time. Too much time invested into it already considering that the game is not overly popular, sorry. Only didn’t do that last time because you asked not to do it.
Can’t really say anything in regard to Far Cry 5 apart from that it isn’t supported. That won’t change until there is a way to hook into the game without breaking its anticheat.
