Just checked how that works in detail since I couldn’t really remember. Normally the profile database is always updated even for a full reinstall, not overwritten as I said above. There is no difference in this regard between a full install and an update install.

I’ll check whether I can find what might have gone wrong in your case. Just from briefly looking at the code the only thing I can currently imagine that may cause the database to get overwritten is installing twice without starting vorpX in between (which is when the actual database update happens).

Unlike an update install a full reinstall overwrites the profile database, should have mentioned that. Might make sense to provide a keep-settings-option in the installer.

BTW: you can backup important profiles and settings via drag and drop on your PC if you don’t want to upload them to the cloud.

If the auto update fails for some reason, you can reinstall with the web installer.

If you don’t have it anymore, you can get one here: http://www.vorpx.com/request-new-download/

Should work again now. The download server had a short maintenance downtime.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Good news: G3D will be available for Prey 2017 with the next regular vorpX version. Requires a vorpX update, an updated profile is not enough unfortunately. So while the request was quick for you, it cost me almost two days. ;) The changes will benefit other games too though, so that was time well spent.

No release date yet. Probably sometime in November, but I can’t promise that 100%. Definitely before Christmas.

vorpX 18.3.0.1 has been released. This is a hotfix that addresses the issue below. No other changes.

Just a heads-up that this issue should be fixed in the latest hotfix 18.3.0.1. If vorpX does not auto-update, a reinstall with the web installer will download it.

No problem as long as you don’t link a Stage 9 download anywhere, neither here nor in the profile description. I’d like to avoid any potential issues in that regard. BTW: IIRC from an earlier version that had VR support it’s very badly optimized, so probably not an ideal candidate.

This has to be a conincidence, nothing has changed regarding the way vorpX hooks into the game. Whether an additional injection works or nort depends on who comes first, vorpX or the other injector. So you might get lucky by trying a few times. Earlier versions cannot be provided, sorry. As dellrifter suggests that would be a support nightmare of epic proportion.

This is a general 18.3.0 bug that affects all D3D11 G3D games with HUD scaling when run in Z3D mode. A hotfix will be released shortly.

It’s hardwired currently, sorry. I’ll add it to the configurable keys for the next version.

Most keyboards without this block of keys have a function key that emulates the missing keys via a Fn+Something shortcut. Maybe that would work until then.

For both actually. Nothing you can improve for the old one, pretty much has all possible bells and whistles including automatic FOV, DirectVR headtracking etc.

If this option is not shown, no shadows are defined in the profile. I’ll check it on occasion.

I’m not really sure whether I understand all your comments correctly, but you can revert any changes that vorpX makes to a game in the config app.

Whenever vorpX changes a game’s settings file for the first time it creates a backup, which can then be restored with a single click if you want to go back to playing that game on your monitor.

You can switch third person to full VR mode technically at any time, but that may feel a bit odd since the game’s camera works as a third person camera works, so you “fly” aorund the player character when you rotate your head. Possible, but requires getting used to.

Recommended mode mode for third person games and the default in most such cases is immersive screen mode, basically a screen so close to your face that it almost fills your entire view plus some head tracking. That feels not unsimilar to third person games made for VR, but you can see the ‘screen’ edges when you rotate your head.

Just a heads-up that you can let vorpX handle the FOV and apply an offset on the DirectVR page of the ingame menu if you want to raise it beyond the default. It changes the same .ini value. That way your FOV change will automatically be applied for everyone who downloads your settings (provided they have auto game settings enabled).
