RalfKeymasterPlease check whether vorpX is at version 18.1.1, you can see the version in the config app (bottom left corner). 18.1 versions should normally fix issues with the desktop viewer and Oculus 2.0.
The error 0x80070005 means access denied. Not terribly much that Google has to say about that in regard to creating a window swapchain unfortunately. The few things I found yesterday suggest that a window handle may be invalid, but that is next to impossible since the window in question was just created a nanosecond before…
You could send me a trouble shoot data archive to support |at| vorpx com, so I could check that. Although I doubt that it will contain anything useful in this case.
Trouble shoot data archives can be created in the config app (trouble shooting page).
RalfKeymasterAn official list with Track IR games can be found here BTW:
naturalpoint.com/trackir/games/
RalfKeymasterThe list in the original post is outdated, incomplete and inaccurate in multiple ways.
Geometry 3D has to be done on a game to game basis. That is one part of the game profiles you see in the config app. Games normally do not support stereo 3D rendering by themselves, providing that is one of the things that vorpX does.
You can try to create stereo 3D profiles for unknown games in the config app yourself by making a copy of an existing profile and then add the .exe of your game to that copy. To do that you should know what 3D engine your game uses and select a game profile as a base that uses the same engine. Works quite well for Unreal Engine 3 games for example.
There is no guarantee though that such an user profile will produce working stereo 3D, but it’s always worth a shot if you don’t mind experimenting yourself.
RalfKeymasterIt’s fairly easy.
- Run OpenTrack.
- Select Oculus or SteamVR as input depending on your headset and ‘freetrack’ as output
- Press Start.
- Disable head tracking in the vorpX config app.
- Launch a game that has TrackIR support.
Caveat: some games may require you to enable TrackIR somewhere in their options menu.
RalfKeymasterI hate to say it, but the list in its current form doesn’t really make much sense at all – complete or not. The whole Direct VR part as well as positional tracking has almost no meaning for all platformers/adventures/strategy games (and many third person games) that are obviously played best on the cinema screen. Your list insinuates that such games are barely working while in fact the exact opposite is true, they are working perfectly well in the best (and often only) way that makes sense for these types of games.
To be of any real use it would at least have to be split into two, better three parts, e.g. “first person”, “third person”, “other”, each with the appropriate features that make actually sense for that type of game.
BTW: while you’re at it, maybe you might also want to take a closer look at a certain other VR 3D-driver vendor who advertises his product with “Play over 900 games in VR” while in fact it’s nothing but a very basic cinema screen.
RalfKeymasterFor Windows 7 Microsoft Security Essentials is basically the same thing.
RalfKeymasterJust seconding PhoenixSpyder’s post. If you can afford it without having to forego something more important than a graphics card, a GTX1080Ti is great for vorpX.
RalfKeymasterPlease make sure that the main .exe is named either eso.exe or eso64.exe. If you renamed it, vorpX would not be able to detect it.
If that is not the issue, there might be some injection conflict with another program on your PC. Typical candidates are: first and formost overzealous virus scanners, also any GPU/CPU utility, video recording/streaming software, messengers and generally everything that can show notifications in games.

RalfKeymasterThat sounds extremely weird (and unlikely). The thing with weapons is that they often are rendered with a different scale/FOV than the rest of the scene to make them look good when a game is played on a monitor. In the headset however that can lead to weapons looking larger than they should be, which probably is what you observe.
RalfKeymasterJust a heads-up for casual bystanders: the FOV in KCD is handled by vorpX and adjusted to perfectly fit the headset. Unless you want to achieve some special effect, there is no need to do anything manually in regard to FOV.
RalfKeymasterIs there anything unusual about your GPU/monitor configuration, two GPUs, multiple monitors etc.? If so, please try with only one monitor (and the headset connected to the same GPU in case of a multi-GPU system).
BTW: There is an accessible Star Citizen profile in vorpX 18.1, so the desktop viewer should not be required anymore as a Star Citizen workaround.
RalfKeymasterYour AV software is almost certainly the culprit. Some invasive AV programs fail doing their guesswork with each new vorpX version.
Exclude the vorpX program folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX) from your scanner and report the issue as false positive to your AV vendor. Be aware though that some of these programs make it very hard for their users to really disable them fully, so that might not be enough to solve the issue.
Windows Defender is a good alternative: good protection without the annoying invasiveness of some other AV programs.
RalfKeymasterIf action packed FPS games are what you’re looking for, Titanfall 1/2 are perfect for you this time around. Very cool sci-fi themed FPS with unusual things like wall running etc. True AAA games with very high budgets/production value, made by Respawn – the new studio of the original Call of Duty creators.
Get Even is another FPS game, slower paced, but very nice graphics made with photogrammetry, not unsimilar to the graphics of Ethan Carter.
And as per IIRC your personal request there is also Direct VR head tracking for Ethan Carter now.
Kingdom Come Deliverance might also be interesting for you. It’s a hardcore RPG, but if you are mostly looking for walking/running through nice scenery it might still be worth a look.
And Tron 2.0, of course, if you don’t mind playing something a little bit older.
RalfKeymasterGTA V has Geometry 3D (fast GPU highly recommended) and the FOV is set fully automatically.
RalfKeymasterDepending on your mouse sensitivity you may have to adjust the head tracking sensitivity in games where head tracking isn’t handled by Direct VR to get 1:1 head tracking. While usually a default is dialed in that fits the default mouse sensitivity, that may not always be correct for your configuration.
The head tracking sensitivity setting is the last one on the main page of the vorpX ingame menu.
You can find this and other useful hints in the “Essential Hints” guide in the help.
