Please try to switch between DX9 and DX11 also, maybe that helps.

Also make sure that there is no injection conflict with some other program on your PC. Start crashes often are related to other programs also hooking into a game like vorpX, which can cause all sorts of issues.

Hottest candidates are: virus scanners, any sort of CPU/GPU utilities, game video recording/streaming software, chat programs and generally everything that can show notifictations in games.

Best way to trouble shoot is to disable/uninstall every program running in the background that would not be there after a fresh, Microsoft only Windows install.

Please shoot me a mail to support |at| vorpx com. There is no official way to use vorpX in extended mode, but I might be able to provide a workaround.

I would highly suggest to try to solve the direct mode issue on your PC though, which is the way things should be normally, not just for vorpX.

Not available currently due to severe graphical glitches. If G3D is possible, a game usually supports it. if not, only Z3D is available.

That said, I’m looking into a solution for the current major issue with GTA V G3D every once in a while, so nothing is set in stone for the future.

BTW: Like with most demanding games in this specific case G3D wouldn’t be much fun even without the problems it currently has due to the frame rate simply being too low for an enjoyable experience.

For better image quality, please adjust the resolution that you run games with. Official suggestions are: 1280×1024, 1600×1200 or 1920×1440 based on game performance.

1920×1400 would result in image quality like native apps. BUT: for a fluid VR experience, you need to make sure that games run at 45fps. That should your primary concern when adjusting resolution and detail settings.

Not sure about your performance problem. In Geometry 3D mode you may see a performance drop of up to 66% compared to playing the same game on your monitor since everything has to be rendered twice and some additional overhead. You can enhance performance by lowering a game’s resolution and/or detail settings or switching to Z-Buffer 3D if a game supports both 3D modes. Z3D doesn’t look as good, but is a lot faster.

The purchase looks like it was done by an unauthorized Chinese reseller. Please contact your reseller about getting your money back. Unauthorized reselling of vorpX licenses is not allowed, the only legit way to purchase vorpX is purchasing it through our website or official partners.

Unfortunately there is no database entry with the mail address that you used to register here in the customer database, so I can’t check what is going on. Please make sure to request the key with the same mail address that you used to originally activate vorpX, otherwise the request cannot be processed.

The recent update is just a hotfix that addresses the two issues mentioned in its release notes. It’s entirely unrelated to the next vorpX version, which will be out before the end of the year.

For full support vorpX requires game specific profiles, which have to be done for each game individually, The latest addition is Skyrim Special Edition, which was added two weeks ago. New game profiles will of course be added in the future.

You can also make profiles with basic 3d support yourself by making copies of existing game profiles in the config app and assigning new games to these copied profiles. There is no guarantee that this will work, but it’s always worth a try especially for games that are based on the same graphics engine. Also check cloud profiles, other users might already have uploaded a basic custom profile for an unknown game.

And last but not least vorpX tries to hook into every DirectX 9-11 game, regardless of having a profile or not, so even games without a profile often can be played in unsupported (2d only) mode. Head tracking and most other VR related functions usually still are available in unsupported mode.

Current development platform is Windows 10, which by now is also the best version for VR in general. Microsoft worked and works with Oculus (and almost certainly also Valve) on several VR related optimizations that won’t be available for any older Windows version.

A full install will probably help.

You can simply use the web installer that you received when you purchased vorpX for that. It will download the latest version available. If you don’t have your web installer anymore, you can get a new one here.

Before you get accustomed to the options vorpX offers, the best way to use vorpX is the quick and dirty “1-2-3 Game Setup” described in the help. Not perfect, but simple. Even that does 10x more than the discontinued program you mention, which doesn’t even provide any kind of Stereo 3D.

BTW: You don’t need to launch the config app to start games with vorpX. Only the injection watcher has to be running.

Z-Buffer 3D will always have less natural Stereo 3D for objects close to the camera (usually not in the distance though). That’s the trade off for being almost twice as fast than Geometry 3D.

I will think about a way to achieve the intended behaviour without affecting your use case, which clearly will become more popular with Vive controller/Touch support. I just can’t promise anything since both have to work together. You wouldn’t want to use EdgePeek without the current functionality.

OK, now I got it. I have to look into that. What you describe is actually intended behaviour, but I see that it can cause a problem when playing without a defined forward position. The reason for this behaviour is that otherwise you may end up looking into the wrong direction after exiting EdgePeek if you look around a lot while EdgePeek is enabled.

I will think about a way to achieve that without affecting your use case, but I can’t promise anything.

in reply to: Pimax 4k capped at 30fps #122935

That sounds like a typical issue with SteamVR when the GPU is heavily used. this is the main reason for Fluid Sync being enabled per default. If your Pimax headset does not support reprojection that will lead to the 30fps cap you descibed earlier though.

I would suggest to lower the ingame resolution/detail settings or switch to Z-Buffer 3D to reduce the GPU workload if a game shows these symptoms.

User settings are stored in a database, they are not accessible with a text editor.

The ingame menu can be accessed with DEL per default, not ESC. You can change the key assignment in the config app.

Windows Defender shouldn’t cause any issue BTW. If it does for some reason on youe machine, I would suggest to exclude the vorpX program folder from scanning instead of disabling it completely.

vorpX per default automatically switches to Rift/Vive audio when you start a game and back to your default device afterwards. If the audio switching causes issues for you, you can disable it in the config app and instead switch devices manually as required.
