One thing worth mentioning is that Asynchronous Spacewarp is not the definitive answer to very low frame rates. It can’t make 20fps feel like 90fps. To quote the in-depth explanation linked in the Oculus blog post: “There’s no completely free lunch, however. ASW doesn’t scale well below half the display’s refresh rate.”

So you will still need “real” 45fps for a fluid experience like before.

There are also a few minor catches in regard to artifacts with transparent objects, small regular patterns etc., quite similar to the glitches you see with other motion detection based frame interpolation methods that you may know for example from your TV.

vorpX performs a few clean-up actions before shutting down, which aren’t executed when the program is force closed by the OS. That’s not an issue in most cases, but there can be situations where that may lead to problems, so it should be avoided.

Thanks for the heads-up. I don’t have a PSVR yet, but once I can get hold of one, I’ll check this. If it’s easy enough for the average user to get PSVR working with this, official PSVR support definitely will be considered.

The OSVR headsets can be used through their SteamVR integration by setting vorpX to “HTC Vive”. Native OSVR support will be reconsidered once OSVR reaches the level of maturity that SteamVR and the Oculus runtime have now.

Just mind that what I wrote above about native gamepad use only applies to games that will work with the new Direct VR feature.

For other games that do not allow mouse and gamepad to be used together the gamepad emulation is and still will be the way to go. It works just as well and even has a few advantages (e.g. independent right stick y-axis sensitivity).

The next vorpX version will allow native controller use for more games that do not allow simultaneous mouse/gamepad use if they work with the new Direct VR feature. Skyrim is one of those, not sure yet about the other ones.

You can also easily address this yourself right away though. That’s why vorpX has a built in gamepad emulation.

The “normal” ways of dealing with games that do not allow and controller and mouse together are either playing with mouse and keyboard or disabling the controller ingame and using the above mentioned gamepad emulation. It maps gamepad input to mouse/keyboard similar to tools like Xpadder and let’s you use your gamepad in every game that does not allow simultaneous gamepad/mouse use.

Skyrim is quite resource hungry. Also keep in mind that in Geometry 3D mode everything has to be rendered twice which reduces the frame rate by at least 50%, plus there is some additional overhead which can lead to an extra 10%-15% reduction.

To play Skyrim in Geometry 3D with 45fps on the outside map you need to reduce detail settings in the Skyrim launcher. Try the medium preset and also remove any HD textures. vorpX (especially in G3D mode) requires more GPU memory than playing the game on your monitor. With extra texture packs there is a certain risk that the required memory is larger than the actual GPU memory on your graphics card, which would make things really slow.

In general you need to find the right balance between performance and quality for your PC (and taste). The main options you have for that are: game resolution, graphics detail and vorpX 3D mode.

Same thing as in your Skyrim question: try to run the game windowed. Shouldn’t be necessary, but in some cases that can help. Also make sure that the game has input focus via ALT-TAB. Sometimes Oculus Home can interfere so that games may appear to hang because they are paused without having input focus.

Please also make sure that no other program is running that may also hook into games: virus scanners, GPU/CPU utilities, video recording/streaming programs, desktop streaming programs, chat programs and generally everything that show notifications over games.

Should work just as it always did. Note that it defaults to Cinema Mode due to being a third person game. If you want to play it in full VR a first person mod is highly recommended.

Please follow the brief instructions from the license dialog: you need to send an e-mail with the request code to the mail address that is mentioned in the dialog.

Make sure to use the same mail address that you entered into the purchase form to avoid delays. You will then receive your key shortly after.

@ prinyo : Make sure to reduce the detail settings in the Skyrim Launcher. Just as it is the case with the original Skyrim the highest detail settings are almost certainly too much for G3D in more taxing parts of the outside map.

This is related to the Windows 10 Anniversary update. Will work again with the next vorpX version.

Direct Head Tracking will also be enhanced a lot with the next update in various other ways. It’s now called Direct VR and depending on the game can also handle FOV and positional tracking. FO4 will be one of the games with full support for all three.

Your order is marked as failed in the database of our e-commerce service MyCommerce, hence they did not send you anything. You most likely were not charged for this failed purchase (you can verify that in your PayPal account).

If against the odds you actually were charged for a failed purchase, please send your PayPal receipt to support |at| vorpx com and we will clarify the matter.

You can also contact support for a fallback purchase method that might work better for you.

The request code is the same as the one you sent on October, 28, so the key you received then still works. I will resend it to both your mail addresses for your convenience.

in reply to: Question about Skyrim resolutions #122610

For the original Skyrim there is an additional way since vorpX can upscale the resolution for this game internally. You can simply choose a common resolution like 1600×1200 and then use the “Internal Resolution Upscale” option in the vorpX ingame menu.
