RalfKeymasterYou should have received the link now. Please let me know if you didn’t.
RalfKeymasterPlease try again using the contact form linked above, just in case there is an issue with receiving mails from your e-mail address.
Also please double check your spam folder in case the link was already sent but went to your spam folder for some reason.
RalfKeymasterThis is probably caused by your virus scanner. Try to disable it and see whether that helps.
RalfKeymasterSame thing applies to the Pipboy probably. Switching to EdgePeek will also be enough here pretty soon.
Adjusting the FOV ingame should be all you need to do. FOV can be adjusted with a button click in the vorpX ingame menu in FO3.
Additionally I would suggest to disable the crosshair. That can be done in the game options IIRC.
RalfKeymasterThis is related to the HUD/menu scaling as the cursor has to be considered to be a part of the HUD by vorpX. You can change the HUD scale on the fly with [ALT][MOUSEWHEEL].
Incidentally the next vorpX update will make this easier as it auto disables HUD/menu scaling in EdgePeek mode. So all you will have to do then is switching to EdgePeek while using terminals. Shouldn’t take long until the next update arrives.
RalfKeymasterNo idea, sorry. Looks like a good reason to only use one injector at a time. ;)
RalfKeymasterYou will at least have to limit the game framerate somehow. Normally vorpX tries to take care of that so that there are enough GPU resources for the direct mode thread. But this can not work if you have a game running without vorpX hooking into it. Probably still won’t work good afterwards, but if a game consumes all GPU resources by itself, like in your case, it definitely won’t work at all.
As said, the desktop viewer really isn’t for gaming, sorry.
RalfKeymasterI’m not really sure whether this is still related to trying to use the desktop viewer to play games, but if it is: the desktop viewer is not really meant to play games. Doing this is very inefficient compared to directly hooking a game, and there should be no reason to do that normally. The desktop viewer can’t do anything that’s not possible with playing the game directly in Virtual Cinema Mode.
RalfKeymasterIf the Direct Mode FPS fall below 75fps you will get judder, it has to be 75fps, not a single frame less. Normally reducing GPU load helps. There is a small performance enhancement guide in the help that lists the common things to try if they fall below 75fps.
Changing GPU Sync from to anything else than ‘Safest’ can cause all sorts of problems, including judder, frames freezing for several seconds and worse. That’s why ‘Safest’ is called ‘Safest’ ;). There are some games where changing this value can enhance framerate without ill side effects, but in the majority of cases it has to stay at ‘Safest’.
RalfKeymasterIf this happens to multiple games (or even all) in a similar way chances are that you have something installed on your PC that conflicts with vorpX. Many programs hook into games similarly to vorpX, not all of them are obvious.
This can for example be a graphics driver add-on, a virus scanner, a chat program or anything else that can display notifications in games.
The trouble shooting guide in the vorpX help lists a few things that are worth looking into in this regard.
RalfKeymasterRenaming to BF4.exe or BFH.exe may be worth a try, but I could imagine that Origin/Battlelog will either complain or make this useless. I’ll try to get an update with a preliminary profile out shortly after release.
RalfKeymasterYou can use the EdgePeek function (press the mousewheel / middle mouse button) to zoom out temporarily. More useful hotkeys are explained in the help.
The next vorpX update will add a scalable HUD for Fallout 4.
RalfKeymasterAsync rendering should always be on. Turning it off actually causes a framerate loss, since all it does is synchronizing the two render threads to work one after the other, which makes things slower. The option is mainly meant for trouble shooting and should be left alone. Will probably get removed soon.
My assumption regarding your framerate issue is that vorpX probably also hooks into the game while you display it in the desktop viewer. Not sure how you even managed to do that :). Normally the desktop viewer should autmatically exit when vorpX hooks into a game.
The better way would be to launch the game without the desktop viewer and switch to Virtual Cinema Mode in the game. If for some reason you really want to play games in the desktop viewer, you have to disable the vorpX watcher (tray icon menu) after starting the desktop viewer.
RalfKeymaster@ peteostro : positional tracking for Z3D will be looked into for Fallout 4. Just can’t promise anything yet.
@ FormulaRedline : You can apply some of the tweaks with one click in the vorpX Game Optimizer in the config app.
@ Karlor : Fallout 4 doesn’t even come close to the performance of Skyrim. Which isn’t really surprising as Skyrim is four years old and was made with the PS3/X-Box 360 in mind, whereas Fallout 4 was made for PS4/X-Box One.
For a halfway pleasent G3D experience you will need the fastest PC available (fastest Core i7, GTX 980Ti).
With a more normal, but good, gaming PC (Core i5, GTX 970) G3D performance on medium settings is borderline bearable (~30fps) while roaming the more empty parts of the map, but dips below 20fps in more complex scenes like towns or factories, which by all means is unacceptable. So you will at least have to switch between both modes depending on the location. A good rule of thumb is that G3D will cut your current Fallout 4 Z3D framerate in half as everything has to be rendered twice.
As in many cases the 3D effect in the distance is better with Z3D BTW, so unless you are mainly focused on looking at objects close to you, you really don’t miss much when using Z3D in Fallout 4.
You’ll be able to decide yourself soon.
RalfKeymasterRelease date over here the 19th IIRC. Will be looked into as soon as it’s available.
A Z3D profile will probably be available fast, provided the Frostbite engine hasn’t changed too much from BF4. G3D will at least take more time and might prove unfeasible. Just can’t tell yet. Frostbite engine uses DX11.1 features which aren’t covered by vorpX yet and which make G3D more complex than with DX11.0. Fingers crossed that it will still be possible.
