RalfKeymasterThe new version supports as many games in full VR and 3D as before, plus a few more. Including Skyrim and Crysis 3. If a game opens in Virtual Cinema Mode then because we found that it suits this particular game better. This is usually true for third person games for example.
You can always switch to full VR by turning off the Virtual Cinema Mode if you prefer that even for third person games.
Please also make sure to read the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help. For most games you have to adjust the field of view to make things look correct. The Essential Game Hints list all options you have to deal with this (differs from game to game).
RalfKeymasterThat’s not a problem. In all liekihood you won’t even need a new key.
RalfKeymasterYes, it was removed. The idea behind it was indeed to address FOV issues, but it clearly was the worst idea during the whole development. Due to the distortion it introduces it can potentially make people sick.
There are many more ways to address FOV issues, ranging from perfect to OK. Please check the Essential Game Hints in the help for details if you haven’t done so already.
One particularly easy new way is setting your game to a 4:3 display mode (like 1280×960 for example), which is now possible and then zoom out a few notches (ImageZoom). In many games that is a nice way to address FOV issues quickly. Not 100% perfect but definitely better than the logarithmic distortion.
RalfKeymasterProvided it’s indeed an issue caused by vorpX, and not something caused by your individual setup (or ESO), yes.
RalfKeymaster@ slonaker.j : No, no time to check individual games right now, sorry. Can’t think of any change in vorpX that could possibly have caused this, but who knows. There was another report of this on Reddit earlier (assuming that wasn’t you), so this will be looked into before the next update.
RalfKeymasterTry the 32bit versions. There was a report earlier on MPC-HC 64bit not hooking, but the 32bit version worked fine.
RalfKeymaster@ v_lee02 : I remember a similar behaviour (loading forever) from before vorpX 0.81. This was actually one of the reasons for releasing a 0.81 version.
Never heard again of this since then, though. Do you by any chance use an unusual graphics card? Optimus laptop, something older than three years, Intel graphics? Something like that *may* be the cause of the issue.
Short addition to shadowself’s hint: If you run GTA (any game) as admin, you also have to run vorpX as admin. In general that shouldn’t be necessary thoogh and should in fact be avoided.
@ all : In case of mouse/keyboard issues make sure that the game has focus by clicking into the window once (assuming the game runs windowed). Although nothing is displayed, game windows still need focus to process mouse/keyboard events.
RalfKeymasterYou can switch to stereo 3d mode on the image page of the vorpX ingame menu. The setting is called Content Type. Apparently some people have an issue with opening the ingame menu in VLC. If that is true for you, try MPC-HC instead.
Also make sure to apply the Game Optimizer setting for VLC/MPC-HC for the best experience.
RalfKeymaster@ JohnnyE : According to the Oculus community moderator SLI currently does not work at all with the DK2: https://forums.oculus.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=27030&p=301690&hilit=Sli#p301690
RalfKeymasterThere is an unpleasant issue with the Oculus runtime (or apparently a part of the nVidia driver) eating away an entire core on CPUs than don’t can do hyper threading (like your Core i5):
RalfKeymasterPlease make sure to play single player or join a server without BattleEye. A BattleEye update some time ago made it impossible for vorpX too hook with BE enabled. Discussing the topic with the BE programmer was fruitless.
RalfKeymasterPlease send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymaster@ Phil_Giordana_FCD : No. There even are gamepad presets for playback control. The video player help page in the vorpX help explains them. Maybe you could try MPC-HC if VLC doesn’t work for you.
@ Karlor : Thanks. Have fun!
RalfKeymasterYou may have to click on the player window once. It has to have focus, otherwise vorpX doesn’t get notified about key presses. Not sure what else could be the issue.
RalfKeymasterYou can set the stereo mode directly in vorpX. The setting is called “Content Type” and you find it on the image page of the vorpX ingame menu.
BTW: make sure to get the latest MPC-HC nightly build. The MPC-HC guys were so kind to implement a little addition that enhances the data transfer between MPC-HC and vorpX. This is only in the latest nightly build currently.
