RalfKeymaster@ lichbane : same answer as above: The desktop app is not really multimonitor capable yet. This will be looked into.
RalfKeymasterWhat headset are you using?
If it’s a DK2, please make sure to have vorpX 0.9 and the Oculus runtime 0.7 or 0.8 installed.
If it’s a DK1 there is not much that can be done despite using a rather old vorpX version that does not use the Oculus runtime. Please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com to get this version if you are still using a DK1.
RalfKeymaster@ Laser : The desktop viewer is not really multimonitor capable yet. Not sure about your game issues. Borderlands (all) always worked liked a charm. Will look into it.
@ smokedog : Please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com
RalfKeymasterTwo things you can try:
1. Reboot your PC and try again
2. If that does not help, uninstall vorpX and then do a fresh install. If you don’t have your installer anymore, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymaster@ Jinglesnz : Please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com to get a new link. Rolling back will probably be the faster option though.
RalfKeymasterIf only Oculus had any async tech at all… I would happily scrap everything done in this regard if they would implement it in their device drivers, which is where this really belongs.
No need to worry though. Win 10 is fine, Win7/8 just work a tad bit better. You probably wouldn’t notice without seeing them running side by side.
RalfKeymasterAfter testing a handful of games with the runtime 0.8 installed, everythings seems to be OK so far.
One thing that is noteworthy: in Win 10 it’s still harder to maintain the 75fps of the direct mode render thread for vorpX, which means you have to lower graphics settings/resolution more than on Win7/8 for a judder free experience in demanding games. If you haven’t upgraded to Win 10, I would suggest to stick with Win7/8 for the time being.
Win 10 works fine in general, but in a direct side by side comparison of otherwise identical machines Win7/8 are notably better in regard to the async direct mode rendering for now.
RalfKeymasterThis is a problem with your virus scanner. Please notify your AV vendor of this as a false positive. Many scanners try to guess whether something is malicious, and in case of vorpX this guess is wrong in your case. May be caused by vorpX “injecting” other programs to work.
To get another download link, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymasterUnder normal circumstances the update will be downloaded and installed automatically when you start vorpX as soon as it’s on the server.
Should that fail for some reason (firewall issue etc.), you can use your web installer to install the latest version manually.
RalfKeymaster“failed to initialize render” in Skyrim can mean that the game runs at a resolution that is not supported by the headset. Make sure to set the resolution to 1920×1080 (DK2) or 1280×800 (DK1). Also try to change the “graphics adapter” in the launcher options.
This will become less problematic with the next vorpX version, which will allow you to use almost every resoution you want.
RalfKeymasterThis should be sorted out now. If you still didn’t receive your key, please let me know.
RalfKeymasterHello,
That’s odd. Normally there should be a PayPal Express Checkout button directly below the cart (near the top right of the checkout page).
If that isn’t available for you, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com or use the contact form above. We can then provide you with a backup purchase method that also uses PayPal.
RalfKeymastervorpX 0.9 will require the Oculus runtime 0.7. Extended mode is still available theoretically, but since it’s disabled by Oculus there is no way to use it anymore with Oculus headsets.
Witcher 3 currently has a very good Z-Buffer 3D implementation, there wasn’t time to check G3D feasibility yet and due to it not being a genuine first person game there are others with higher priority. What I can safely say though is that this is one the games where you *REALLY* should choose Z3D even if both modes are available for performance reasons. The best 3D doesn’t help a bit if a game can’t run at decent framerates with it.
RalfKeymaster@ jasonbaz : Thanks. I obviously can’t say that myself too loud, but between us I dare to say that this is exactly the way I would judge vorpX. ;)
@ all : an official release date has been set. You can read about it and some major new features that come on top what was already announced earlier here.
RalfKeymasterAdditionally to using the Oculus runtime 0.5/0.6, you may have to go back to an earlier version of your nVidia driver from before the 0.7 Oculus runtime release. For example 352.86. This was the official driver from the time vorpX 0.81 was built, so it’s the safe bet.
To be extra sure, please uninstall Oculus runtime and driver you are using now before installing 352.86.
vorpX 0.9 with Oculus runtime 0.7 support will be released next week.
