RalfKeymasterGenerally the settings look OK, except one thing: the way things are configured in your screenshot the game should open on the main display, not the Rift. Three things you should try:
1. Either select the second adapter in the “Graphics Adapter” listbox of the Skyrim options window (that may be what you meant by “adapter 1 trick” though).
2. Or Select “Show on Rift DK2” in the display adapter listbox of the vorpX config app.
3. Or Use the Rift as main display in Windows and leave vorpX at “Use System settings”. This isn’t exactly a comfortable solution, but the most compatible one. Shouldn’t be necessary for Skyrim normally though.
Apart from that there are two other things worth checking:
1. If you have the 0.6.0 Oculus runtime installed, go back to 0.5.1
2. If your notebook allows you to disable the integrated graphics card, do that. Just to make sure it’s not some Optimus graphics card switching issue.
RalfKeymasterYou can’t do that directly with vorpX, but using a third party program like OBS (Open Broadcast Software) reportedly allows you to create a mirror window.
RalfKeymasterYou can select the Rift directly in the Fallout 3 launcher: the according listbox is the first one from above and labeled “Graphics Adapter”.
RalfKeymasterIt’s not 100% decided yet, but quite likely. It’s always possible that issues show up while testing later though.
RalfKeymasterThat’s a good hint, thanks. Adjusting the FOV is indeed important in many ways.
RalfKeymasterBTW: You can make the Virtual Cinema Mode almost as immersive as Full VR. For many games that is a very good option for playing long sessions as it combines the advantages of the Virtual Cinema Mode with the (almost) full FOV of normal VR mode. For that:
1. use the ambience or the no background scene, depending on what you like better.
2. Move the virtual screen closer to you (“Screen Distance Offset”).
3. Lower the head tracking sensitivity. 1:1 head tracking is not desirable in Virtual Cinema Mode as it is added to the head tracking in the virtual environment (hope that makes sense).
RalfKeymasterJust checked it, seems to work. If nothing unexpected shows up, this will inplemented as an expert option.
RalfKeymasterDepending on your system configuration forcing the game to the DK2 may not work for Fallout 3 in all cases, which would yield this error.
You can however select the Rift directly in the Fallout 3 launcher: the according listbox is the first one from above and labeled “Graphics Adapter”.
Another solution would be to to use the “compatible” setup from the DK2 Setup Guide (Rift as primary display in Windows, vorpX set to “Use system settings” display wise).
Please also make sure to set the resolution to 1920×1080.
RalfKeymasterTechnically applying an offset to the tilt angle would be no problem, but I’m not sure whether there may be ill side effects regarding the seamless switching between normal mode and the 3D EdgePeek. I’ll check that, but no promises.
For playing games while reclining you can switch to the ‘old’ 2D EdgePeek on the display page of the vorpX ingame menu (requires expert options checked in the config app). The 2D EdgePeek does not use absolute angles and should work fine even if you want to play while lying in bed, looking straight up. ;)
RalfKeymasterThat’s actually the Virtual Cinema Mode that is enabled per default. You can disable it on the main page of the vorpX ingame menu. Can’t remember why currently, but playing this game in Virtual Cinema Mode seemed to be preferable, hence it is activated per default.

RalfKeymasterBoth Mirror’s Edge and Outlast can be optimized with the Game Settings Optimizer in the vorpX config app (2. in the above answer). If that fails or isn’t available for a game, the first thing you schould try is 3. from the list above. The vorpX ingame menu can be displayed in every game when it runs with vorpX.
Here’s the FOV part of the Essential Game Hints for your convenience again:
You can get most games look almost perfect in this regard. And even for those that do not offer FOV control, neither directly, nor through vorpX, there are functions in vorpX to make them playable, although not in a perfect way.
From best to worst here is what you can do:
1. Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°,
2. Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.
3. Set the game FOV to 120 manually through an ini tweak or external tool (avaliable for many games, google FOV + game name).
4. Use the 3D FOV Enhancement in the vorpX ingame menu (availabe in Geometry 3D games).
5. Use one of the letterbox aspect ratio modes in the vorpX ingame menu and/or ImageZoom
6. Play the game in Virtual Cinema Mode
7. Use the 2D FOV-Enhancement in the vopX ingame menu (be aware that this distorts the image)
RalfKeymasterPlease check the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help for information regarding this and other important things.

RalfKeymasterPlease take a look at the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help. It explains two possible ways to get the games to the Rift. Make sure to follow all steps mentioned there.
Here’s the short version. Please still read the guides in the help, they all contain important information.
You have two options to use vorpX:
A. The convenient one (works with most games)
1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
2. Use the Rift DK2 as SECONDARY monitor in Windows
3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
4. Set vorpX to “Show on DK2″ display wise in the vorpX config app.B. The compatible one
1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
2. Use the Rift DK2 as PRIMARY monitor in Windows
3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
4. Set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise in the vorpX config app.
RalfKeymasterAre you by any chance using the 0.6 Oculus runtime? If so, please download the 0.5.1 runtime from the Oculus website, which is the one vorpX 0.8.1 is compiled with. 0.6 seems to have some odd issues.
Please also make sure to set all games to 1920×1080 (DK2 native res) before starting them with vorpX.
