Offline profile editing doesn’t make much sense since you need visible feedback for most settings when you change them.

Without having tried, I’d say I would prefer that. Potential aspect ratio issues can probably cured easier than extremely wide resolutions, which some games might just refuse to work in. 2160×1200 at least would be reasonably close to 16:9.

Something similar is already there (the ambience scene described in the blog post).

Doing it exactly like shown in your image is pretty distracting. Experimented with that a long time ago, before vorpX was even called vorpX. Main reason for that is your brain: peripheral vision is highly sensitive to motion. Fooling the brain with a repeating pattern (that moves when you turn your head) in the peripheral part of the FOV is impossible. Looks quite bad.

Something that just consists of colors without any real structure like in the ambience mode however works a lot better as it doesn’t trigger the ‘motion detection’ in your brain.

@ goshops : Just a guess: did you by any chance recently enable the gamepad in the Skyrim options? In Skyrim and a few other games enabling the gamepad disables mouse input, which also disables the vorpX head tracking. Disabling the gamepad in the Skyrim options menu will bring back head tracking if that is the case.

The gamepad will still be usable through vorpX’s built in gamepad handling.

I’m not quite sure whether I understand what you mean, but most FOV settings are done outside the vorpX ingame menu, like said above. For most games you should either use the Game Optimizer in the vorpX config app or try googling “FOV + game name” for an external fix if your game is not in the Optimizer.

Do yourself a favour and read the guides in the help. They are worth it, really. Saves a lot of head scratching and frustration. :)

I’m still not quite sure whether I get the issue, but I’ll check Homefront. Trying it myself is probably the best way of understanding it. As always, no promises though.

I’m sure there are various challenges in supporting the Vive and other devices. Hard to tell in detail before trying. The wider the resolution of the device, the more issues may occur in regard to the HUD and other things, of course. Some games may not even support resolutions wider than 16:9. We’ll see how things work out.

Please check the DK2 Setup Guide and the Essential Game Guide in the vorpX help? Both contain valuable information, not only, but also in regard to handling field of fiew (“zoomed in image”). Below is what you can do. Please still read the docs, as they also contain other important things that help you to get the most out of vorpX.

You can get many games look almost perfect in tregard to the FOV. And even for those that do not offer FOV control, neither directly, nor through vorpX, there are functions in vorpX to make them playable, although not in a perfect way.

From best to worst here is what you can do:

    1. Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°,
    2. Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.
    3. Set the game FOV to 120 manually through an ini tweak or external tool (avaliable for many games, google FOV + game name).
    4. Use the 3D FOV Enhancement in the vorpX ingame menu (availabe in Geometry 3D games).
    5. Use one of the letterbox aspect ratio modes in the vorpX ingame menu and/or ImageZoom
    6. Use the 2D FOV-Enhancement in the vopX ingame menu (be aware that this distorts the image)

Just like Steam games and most other things licensed digitally vorpX licenses cannot be shared or resold. Details about this can be found in the terms and conditions: https://www.vorpx.com/terms-conditions.

The Vive sounds interesting for sure, support for it will probably be added as soon as it is available, provided there aren’t any technical reasons that prevent it (unlikely). Same for other devices that have the potential to gain a considerable market share.

There are four things that can potentially lead to symptoms similar to what you describe:

    1. The display orientation of the DK2 is not setup correctly (details in the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help)
    2. The game is not set 1920×1080 fullscreen
    3. The interpupillary distance (IPD) is not set correctly (can be calibrated on the display page of the vorpX ingame menu)
    4. The 3D-Strength is set too high

As said before, this will be looked into before the next release. In the last weeks work was focused primarily on a major new feature. Game support work will continue after that is ready.

Sounds a bit like this could be an issue with your virus scanner. If you have one installed, please try to disable it for testing purposes or add an exception for vorpControl.exe.
