RalfKeymasterPlease send a mail to support |at| vorpx com requesting a new download.
RalfKeymasterI’m not sure currently whether there is a reason for that in regard to Dead Island, but there just is no profile for a game when that message is displayed. I’ll check whether it’s easy to add.
RalfKeymaster1. Changing UI depth will be possible soon.
2. It’s not adjustable. However there is indeed some room for improvement. The next version will have some tweaks for the pos tracking, but it won’t be user adjustable.
3. Normally turning off the controller in the game should be enough. The controller handling in vorpX has to be set to the default value (Handle gamepads internally)
RalfKeymasterI guess you are using Windows 8/8.1? Please follow these instructions to enable version 3.5 of dotNet manually:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/hh506443%28v=vs.110%29.aspx
RalfKeymasterSkyrim and other Bethesda games disable the mouse when the ingame gamepad handling is active, which also disables vorpX’s head tracking.
Hence the need for another solution if you want to play with a gamepad. This is the main reason why a gamepad emulation exists in vorpX in the first place.
RalfKeymasterPortal 1 makes problems for ~10% of users. Unfortunately the issue is impossible to replicate here.
Dear Esther is very well tested. Shouldn’t cause issues normally. You should check things like resolution, 3D Strength, IPD in case of convergence issues.
Gone home has a *few* broken shadows that aren’t fixable without breaking most of the lighting.
You could switch to Z-Buffer 3D, which does not have any shader glitches by design. Aliens Colonial Marines for example is a game with excellent Z-Buffer 3D.
RalfKeymasterHi Woody,
The first thing you should do is apply the Game Optimizer tweaks for Dirt 3 in the vorpX config app. This switches the game to D3D9 and thus enables Geometry 3D.
When this is done, you can adjust the FOV in the vorpX ingame menu. The menu entry is called 3D FOV Enhancement.
Headtracking can either be done by configuring the Rift head tracker as gamepad in vorpX (see below), or by using OpenTrack. The latter will give you better head tracking, sou you should do that if possible. Apparently there is a DK2 ready of OpenTrack available here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/544fbhsokdpy3n7/AAAKwl6BluqwT9Xn2slyp0dCa
And here are the steps that are required to use the Rift head tracker as gamepad axis with vorpX:
1. Press [DEL] to open the in-game menu
2. Go to Input page
3. Set ‘Handle Gamepads Internally’ to Off
4. Set ‘Headtracking as Gamepad’ to Relative or Absolute depending on the game. You should get a grasp of what is better quickly. The options below this should be more or less self explanatory except maybe Deadzone Correction, which efectively eliminates analog stick deadzones set by the game.
If this is done, your headtracker is now a gamepad axis. The final step is to go to the game’s input options and map look left/right/up/down to the ‘Rift-Gamepad-Axis’, exactly as you would do with any other gamepad axis.
RalfKeymasterDisabling ambient occlusion in the nVidia control panel does not disable Skyrim shadows normally. The native Skyrim shadows have nothing to do with the nVidia ambient occlusion.
The ambient occlusion that can be enabled in the nVidia driver is not a genuine Skyrim feature at all, it is applied as a post process in the nVidia driver, hence it does not work with vorpX.
RalfKeymasterYour activation key was sent. Please post here if it did not reach you.
RalfKeymasterSorry for the inconvenience. Sounds like the mailserver of our provider refuses to receive mails from you due to an invalid (non standard conform) DNS entry of your mailserver.
If you can’t send an e-mail, you can use the contact form in the menu above to send your request code. Hopefully we will be able to send mails to you.
Alternatively you could use a mail address from one of the large known mail services like Gmail or Outlook if you have such an account. In that case please don’t forget to mention the mail address you used for the purchase, otherwise we won’t be able to verify the request.
RalfKeymasterWithout having checked that, I would guess that nVidia auto disables ambient occlusion when 3D Vision is on, so you probably don’t gain anything.
Having both 3D Vision and vorpX active may cause all sorts of issues. I would generally not recommend that. Most importantly: please do not report bugs with a setup like this without checking whether they also are there with default nVidia driver settings.
RalfKeymasterFlickering shadows might be caused by forcing Ambient Occlusion through the nVidia driver. If you have an nVidia card and have that enabled, you should disable it. So far there were two reports of flickering shadows that I’m aware of, in both cases this was the cause.
RalfKeymasterWhen you disable the gamepad in Skyrim and disable the the internal gamepad handling in vorpX, you should be able to use an external gamepad tool without problems.
The weird vorpx menu you mention is actually a pretty useful, but often overlooked feature called VR Hotkeys. When you press and hold [SHIFT]+[MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON] or in your case the left thumbstick, you can simulate key presses by looking at one of the 16 pads and then releasing the button.
This way you can execute keyboard shortcuts without having to look at the keyboard. For Skyrim a few useful shortcuts are preconfigured, but you can freely configure all 16 pads in the vorpX ingame menu to your liking.
RalfKeymasterYou might have to try a few times. If that doesn’t help you should get it working trying this:
1. Disable the in-game overlay in Origin.
2. Switch from the 64bit to the 32bit version of BF4 or vice versa. Maybe one works better for you.
3. Go to offline mode in Origin. This circumvents Battlelog and might help with vorpX. However, you will lose online gaming, so do this as a last resort only. You may have to configure your Rift as primary display in Windows and use “Use system settings” display wise in vorpX for BF4. Not 100% sure currently, but IIRC forcing to the Rift doesn’t really work with BF4.
RalfKeymasterConfirmed. I will look into it.
For now you can work around the issue by deactivating vorpX in the vorpX ingame menu while you are using the FarCry menu, and reactivating vorpX when you made it into the game. Not ideal, but works.
I agree that this is a nice match for the Rift. Runs without any noticable latency even on lower end machines, but still looks quite nice despite the graphics being technically outdated.
