You should keep in mind that ‘more’ 3D is not automatically better in VR. For a realistic experience it is important to have settings that resemble what you see in the real world. If you raise the Eye Separation in Geometry 3D above 1.5 or so, you already get a 3D effect that is far stronger than what you see in reality. And the maximum value of 3.0 is far off from anything that could be called realistic, that’s why it’s capped there.

While it is certainly fun to experiment with stronger than natural 3D, for a realistic VR experience you usually don’t have to touch these values at all.

That feature is definitely on the nice to have list. I cant’t give you an exact timeframe, but this will be looked into sooner or later.

    Hi,

vorpX supports two different 3D-modes: A classic mode (Geometry 3D) that renders two views, and a super-fast mode called Z-Buffer 3D that has less 3D but is twice as fast, which helps to ensure 60fps even in taxing games. In most cases Z-Buffer is the default, you can switch to Geometry 3D in the in-game menu, provided the game supports both modes.

Clive Barkers Jericho supports both, you can switch to Geometry 3D in the in game menu (3D-Reconstruction). To further enhance the 3D-effect, you can raise the Eye Separation in the in-game menu. The default values are usually dialed in to be lifelike though, so raise them with care.

Metro Last Light will be supported with the next update, currently it’s 2D only.

There currently is a bug that causes this for some games. It’s already fixed in the dev version, the fix will be available with the next update.

Until then you might be able to circumvent the issue by starting the game through a vorpX shortcut: right click the vorpX tray icon, choose “Create Desktop Shortcut”, then browse to the game’s .exe. This will create a special shortcut on your desktop.

If this doesn’t work for L4D2, you’ll have to wait for the next update. Sorry for that.

In DX11 the game is Z-Buffer 3D only currently, which has less Stereo 3D but is twice as fast.

The DX9 screenshot is not from vorpX, the game should show the circular vignettes and the vorpX logo when it runs with vorpX. Most likely you have another stereo driver running that interferes with vorpX. Also please check for any d3d9.dll in the game’s directory and remove it.

    Hope that helps.

Glad this is solved. I will add the multi-monitor suggestion to the trouble shooting guide.

    Hi zergtdg,

The game is not officially supported yet, so I can’t tell for sure what’s going on there. It looks like a nice fit for the Rift though, so I will look into it.

In case you started the game through a vorpX desktop shortcut, please try to disable the watcher (right click the tray icon > Disable Watcher)

    Hi TimeDeath,

Just be sure (this question most likely sounds silly to you, but someone already forgot that): Did you start vorpX Control (not Config!) from the start menu? If it is running, it shows a vorpX tray icon in your taskbar.

If that is case, here are few more things to check/try, that might or might not apply to your PC:

If you have more then one monitor attached to your PC, remove all additional monitors temporarily.

Set the Windows multi-display configuration to clone mode and select “Use System Settings” in vorpX.

Try to start your games with a vorpX shortcut (See the trouble shooting sticky for details).

If you continue to have these problems after trying/checking the above (and everything from the trouble shooting sticky), and want to do some individual trouble shooting, please write a mail to support |at| vorpx com .

    Hope that helps.

Unfortunately support for Amnesia games cannot be added currently, since they use OpenGL instead of DirectX to display the graphics. OpenGL support might be added to vorpX at a later point in time.

vorpX is publically available for over three months now, and we didn’t hear of a single case so far where someone was banned, or even warned because of using vorpX. There are no guarantees though. So if you don’t want to risk anything, stick to single player modes.

That being said, Punkbuster and others would have to ban a lot of people if they would ban anyone who uses some kind of DirectX hook for image enhancement etc., so the chance of being classified as cheater when using vorpX is rather slim. Judging from my own experience I would say playing with the Rift is the opposite of a cheat. ;) But as said above, no guarantees.

DayZ Standalone doesn’t work currently BTW, the necessary profile was added a few days ago and will be available with the next update.

@jjordan: If you are who I think you are, you should have received your key in the meantime. If not, please let me know.

@jeff: Setting up headtracking in games without mouselook is a bit unintuitive ATM, you can find a guide here: https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/headtracking-issues-tips-and-tricks/#post-10646 .

Some of the older COD titles use OpenGL instead of DirectX AFAIK, which isn’t supported by vorpX currently. I’m not sure when they switched to DirectX, but that might be the issue here.

    Hi kosmo,

Instaead of disabling head tracking completely, set the Head Tracking Sensitivity to 0.0. This way you can disable the tracking, but EdgePeek stays functional.

Scaling the scene can be achieved by raising the Eye Separation in vorpX (main page of the in-game menu). BF4 only only supports Z-Buffer 3D currently, so the effect is somewhat limited though.

Another thing that affects the perceived scale is the field of view set in a game. Please make sure to set it to something like 95-100 in the game options. Unfortunately this works only in multiplayer, in the campaign this value is ignored. The reason for this is only known to DICE…

Which game(s) did you try? I need to know this to help trouble shooting.

This crash should only affect 64bit executables. Support for 64bit games is still a bit experimental.

This shouldn’t be a problem though, almost all games also have 32bit .EXEs, so one general thing you should try is using the 32bit version of the game. If you don’t know how to do this for a specific game, please let me know.

Another thing to try is temporarily disabling your virus scanner, and see whther that helps.

Also please take a look at the general trouble shooting guide above.

    Hope that helps.
