VorpXerParticipant
Actually the lighting and shadows are not fixed, I was mistakened. But performance is definitely much improved
VorpXerParticipantI found out rFactor 2 does work with VorpX if the antialiasing setting is 4 or 6, but not 8 as I was using previously.
VorpXerParticipantI found a solution – in the rFactor 2 settings the antialiasing level must be either 4 or 6, I used to have it on 8. I’m using an nvidia card and allowing the game to control antialiasing
VorpXerParticipantReinstalling rF2 didn’t help. Ralf, are you using rFactor 2 build 946? Is there a way I can roll back VorpX to 0.8.0?
VorpXerParticipantThe latest version of VorpX works very well with Payday 2. Now the lighting and shadows work well even in Geometry 3D mode. Performance/framerates seem much better too. Now I only play Payday 2 in 3D. Thanks for the improvements!
VorpXerParticipantSwitching to 32 bit did something, but it still isn’t working. rFactor 2 32bit starts up but the image disappears and reappears repeatedly, and the cursor does not respond. This is using the latest rFactor 2 build (April 3 build 946).
I will reinstall.
VorpXerParticipantThanks Ralf, I will try what you have suggested. I am happy to hear that it works on your end, if necessary I will just reinstall everything.
VorpXerParticipantAfter the VorpX 0.8.1 update rFactor2 fails to start when VorpX is running. It previously worked well with VorpX 0.8.0
Other games work fine.
VorpXerParticipantMy VorpX also didn’t work after attempting an auto-update. I uninstalled and reinstalled using the websetup file. VorpX runs, but now rFactor2 doesn’t start when VorpX is running.
VorpXerParticipantYou have set your FOV already, now you need to enable expert settings and adjust 3d separation and focal offset. First adjust focal offset so that things in the distance are comfortable to look at like faraway objects are in real life. Then adjust the 3d separation until the scale of the world looks right. Raising the 3d separation makes things appear smaller.
VorpXerParticipantThank you Ralf for the rFactor 2 support! Thank you for enabling Geometry 3d mode even though it is not officially supposed to be working. It works very well actually, I’m using the settings posted here: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/14441-Rf2Rift-rFactor2-Oculus-Rift-Plugin-and-Tools?p=350000&viewfull=1#post350000
VorpXerParticipantI noticed geometry 3D does not appear to work for me, the option selects, there is a performance hit, but there is no 3D. I am in DX9 as well.
any clues on how to set this up with geometry 3D?
I have the same problem, using DX9 so the geometry 3d mode is selectable but it doesn’t produce any left/right separation. Z-buffer modes work fine.
VorpXerParticipantThis problem still exists in VorpX 0.7.5
I find that I do tilt my head slightly when doing natural head movements such as looking over your shoulder. If I disable headtracking roll then the mismatch gives me some noticeable motion sickness. With roll enabled the focal offset is problematic because it does not follow your head orientation (it stays at the world’s orientation)
VorpXerParticipantI had the same problem. If you kept the web installer file from when you first bought VorpX you can use it and it will download the latest version. If you don’t have it you can probably get it resent if you contact Ralf.
VorpXerParticipantI just had a go of Arma 3 and I am very impressed with the Z-buffer 3d.
To change the field of view use notepad to open the file
Documents/Arma3/user.Arma3Profile
and set these two values
fovTop=1.5599999;
fovLeft=2.77;The Z-buffer 3d seems very effective in Arma 3. But in other games e.g. Payday 2 the Z-buffer method doesn’t seem to do much, even when 3d separation is set to the maximum. Is there any way the 3d could be strengthened or is it just a limitation caused by the particular game?
