    Hello,

I’ve recently bought vorpX and as far as i’ve used it i’m pretty dissapointed.

I’ve tested 3 games right now:
    – Aliens Isolation,
    – SOMA
    – Crysis Warhead.

In Aliens Isolation and SOMA both games was in window in googles (just a 3D window in front of me) moreover both games got strange blur when i was looking around – pretty frustrating and gave me motion sickness (i’ve played a lot of games so far without this problem).

In Crysis Warhead i’ve also got some problems but this time with controler (i’ve used gamepad) which seems to not work from time to time (i couldn’t move sides sometimes or turn around).

I’m not sure maybe i’m doing something wrong but for $40 this software is pretty shitty…

I did a lot of tests, black screen … I have the advice of vorpx below at the beginning, then nothing. :(

I duplicated the profile and I applied it to NFS Shift 1 and it’s not bad, someone with experience should easily be able to make a good profile. (bizzare blur on the edge of the runway)

Yes, I read your post. I tried custom resolution but like I “said” it won’t let me make 1920×1440, my computer doesn’t support it. The only thing that works is the EdgePeek (middle mouse click). The text becomes clear but you are zoomed out. And it takes you out of the VR feel.

I wanted to find a solution that doesn’t zoom out the hud. But, ironically, the reason why the text is blurry is because Vorpx has the hud “too” zoomed in. But, when you zoom out the hud manually, it’s too zoomed out and you get taken out of the VR effect…

So, I guess I’ll have to use EdgePeek when I want to hack or read data pads. Not the end of the world, but Vorpx should take note of this and look into some scaling updates that don’t blur the hud when zoomed in…

Just tried Deus Ex Human Revolution with Vorpx but once in the game I can’t read any on screen text, whether it be subtitles or data pads. The text is all blurred or jumbled looking.

I set the resolution to 1920X1080. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Does it look like this for any of you? Maybe it’s a result of the 3D being too high. I didn’t touch anything though. This is how it’s looking at default.

Peter’s profile was loading for me as “immersive screen mode” rather than full VR. Is that correct?

Should I be tweaking any settings or should it be fine as it comes? I’m finding the headtracking a bit unpleasant.

I have disabled motion blur and turned down a few graphics settings to help the framerate. Should I be doing much else?

Some games do not allow mouse and gamepad to be used at the same time. Since vorpX needs to emulate a mouse for head tracking in such cases it overrides the gamepad with its built in gamepad to mouse/keyboard mapper. You can freely configure that to your liking on the input page of the vorpX menu.

There is no general need to turn off AA. Be aware though that ‘modern’ AA techniques like FXAA. TAA etc. blur the image, so in such cases you have to decide what you consider more important. Good old true multi sampling AA (MSAA) can (and should) safely be enabled if available for a game.

Unfortunately AMD graphics cards are less than ideal when it comes to custom resolutions since normally only resolutions as high as your monitor’s native res will work. NVidia GPUs are way better in that regard. There some tools that presumably allow to add resolutions the AMD graphics control panel rejects, but I never tried that. Search for CRU or Custom Resolution Utility. Also make sure to add the resolutions listed in the vorpX Custom Resolutions guide.

btw: please make sure to always read all messages that vorpX shows in the headset.

I edited my response and now it’s not appearing. Here is a copy in case you can’t see it either:

I did finally get custom resolutions to work.

    My system specs:
    AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core 3700mhz
    MB: X470 Gaming Pro Carbon
    16gb ram
    RX 470 graphics card
    Odyssey+ WMR Headset

    Issues I’m having:

    1) Blurriness. I can’t read any of the text that appears when I look at the controllers, regardless of “sweet spot” or distance. I can read text fine in Steam Home and in most games, but the control text is illegible.

    2) Games become nightmares in VorpX. Both Skyrim and Battlefront 2 (2017) go insane in VorpX with graphical glitches and issues. In Deus Ex, the left lens and right lens don’t display the same things, so it’s like looking at a magic eye puzzle. Shadows, for instance, only appear in the left lens. Even after turning off shadows, enough random textures and effects appear in only one lens that the game is unplayable. Skyrim seemed to have a similar issue, though it was the first game I tried so I didn’t know to check the lens issue. Everything had a copy of itself a few pixels off, like a bad 3d movie, from the mountains and trees to the characters.

    3) When I run the scan for headtracking, it usually breaks the game, forcing either a full system reboot or a forced closing of the game. Twice it has altered the resolution of my computer until I had to reboot. In Deus Ex, headtracking will be working ok until I run the scan, and then I can no longer look around the world; the screen moves with the headset. I can only look around with the controllers at that point. When I run the scan, I am not in any menues, I am not near any walls, and I am in full control of my character.

    4) Beyond the graphical issues mentioned above, the games just look very pixelated and low-quality. I’ve got Supersampling turned up in Steam as high as my system can handle. I played a bit of Arizona Sunshine and it looked great. But every game I’ve tried in VorpX has just looked awful. I can’t make out any facial details if the character is more than a few feet away. Everything is harsh and jagged.

I’m playing half life 2 again in prep for half life alyx. Does everyone else also have a blurry screen especially easy to see on the crosshair, except if I turn on edge peek, then everything is very clear. I’m running 4×3 very high custom resolution, but vorpx still complains sometimes and tells me to run 4×3. Maybe my setup got corrupt somehow. Just wondering as i enjoy this so much, but want it to be the best it can. Thanks

I got Biosshock to run with the high custom resolutions and it looks incredible, very sharp. Its like the convergence is off (might be compleely wrong here)

You had to change to fullscreen bc windowed uses your windows resolution and you’d have to change it to a 4:3 res for it to work like that, which is impossible in many 16:9 screens.

What i do is unplug the tv/monitor (turning it off works) so that only the headset is detected and it’s native resolutions are shown, most being 4:3, and in this way you don’t even have to add them.

Just for clarification: vorpX does change the .ini, but not that particular seting. What vorpX does is setting the resolution and disabling motion blur and DOF, which both look bad in VR.

Don’t know what your PC spec are, but even high end computers will struggle to play RDR2 with high settings. So don’t expect very high frame-rates until Rockstar optimizes better. I’m playing at 35fps on a 2080ti.

The higher resolution you set in game, the better it will look in your headset. But the higher the resolution, the greater the performance cost. So you’ll have to be the judge of which is most important to you: frame-rate or visual clarity. For me that target balance is 35fps at 3200×2880 on Reverb.

I was not able to get 1:1 aspect to show in RDR2, but 10:9 seems to work, with minimal cutoff of some reading texts. You could try 2400×2160 and see how better that looks in your Vive Pro. It may perform similar to your current setting if your lucky, but look less blurry.

In case you missed it, here is a post about settings I use with the mod:
Red Dead Redemption 2 FullVR with FOV mod

If you are struggling to keep an acceptable frame-rate though, I would recommend using the default profile in immersive screen mode. That will have less performance impact and look clearer on low resolutions due to the smaller screen surface area.

Hey guys, so I think immersive full screen mode is pretty cool. But the problem is the image gets blurry for me sometimes. I set the screen offset to -50 and increased FOV with the mod. I also had my click multiplier set to 0.82. I feel my mouse is too slow otherwise. Is it better to use the click multiplier or change the DPI of the mouse?

Also when I go into full VR mode, it shows a small window. How do I increase it?

Hi Ralf! First of all, thank u so much!! RDR 2 just released and Vorpx has a profile already!

My game is running well! I had a launcher problem, but after rockstar updated it everything is fine…

I can run the game with vorpx ( htc vive), but with default profile settings , z3d mode, I dont have any images, only a kind of colors blurry (hard to explain in English)

If I turn off 3D on Vorpx settings in game, I see the images perfectly, running very well!! Im ok with this… playing a great game in my headset, even in 2d, as a big screen, makes me happy! If the profile can give me some 3D, I would be much happier though! :)

What could it be? Any idea to help me try to fix it?

    Thanks again!!

I’ve played a bit of Resident Evil 2 with the First Person Mod in VorpX. It looks in Full-VR G3D amazing, and plays great (with the exception of the FOV changing when I hold the aim button, RE7 did this too but you could fire at least from the hip there). The issue is performance, in G3D on the lowest the settings can go and it’s still dipping into the sub 40-55 fps range and that’s already under-sampled to where it is very blurry. If it wasn’t for the performance it would be an incredible VorpX game. I guess I’m trying to see if anyone has any other methods they barter for frame rate, for me leaving G3D is a no go. It’s kind of strange that VorpX has this performance ceiling that eventually if a game is running poorly no amount of lowering of settings seems to help. Games with Stereoscopic 3d through virtual desktop on SBS do not seem to take such a hit.
