To me it seems no one actually read this. Seems like an automated response. So I sent a message back stating so. Would like some more people.. Even if you don’t have any intention to play DBD.. every game that allows its support, will convince other companies to allow support for their games.
    Thanks

The Chrome Engine is used, a updated version of Dying Light 2015 and Dead Island. But the older games have support of dx11, and Dying Light 2 official supports dx12 only. That means that vorpx will support Z3D and hopefully AFR 3D, and we don’t know if we will need a new dx12 Z3D profile or it will it work with a existing dx12 profile in Z3D. But there are games in the past, in which dx11 could be unofficial activated by a start parameter, and it will work with older dx11 Chrome Engine profiles. But for dx11 G3D we will need two RTX 3090 Ti, so it will be impossible for us to use it until the RTX 4000 cards will be released. The advantage of AFR 3D is the decent performance !

The Oculus VR support was added some time after release of Dying Light 2015, and most of the players had finished the game before it was released, and i don’t want to wait for it until end of the year.

Because of Covid-19 my list of Triple A Blockbuster is very short until end of the year, so in my opinion Dying Light 2 is the most important release until October.

considering both cpu and motherboard have temperature cutoff at which point power is shutdown around 100C, i dont think its possible for a non modified/non damaged motherboard to reach melting point, but even without security, without an actual short circuit, cpu themself dont really consume enough electricity to warm the whole area to the point of melting, it would get pretty darn hot for sure

around 150C youll start getting lots of smoke from the board but it wont be melting yet, just burning the first layer.

Actual melting point would vary a bit, but its usually in the 200-250C. but at that point, your cpu would be long dead.

The cases i know off with motherboard physically melting were from short circuits on power bus, and not really from the hardware itself heating up during usage.

I have been playing F1 2021 on an HMD odyssey+ using the openXR profile. I use a G920 wheel and sometimes when I am transitioning from braking changing pedals I see a message saying Select that causes a ton of nausea as it pops up in the foreground dead center of my view. Is there any button combination that will bring up a select message so I can disable it?

You are very welcome, I recently done the mission where Arthur & Lenny get drunk at the saloon in Valentine, it is very cool & trippy in VR with the room going all bendy & warped as you get drunk, i walked in on Lenny getting it on with female Lenny, escaped the law & am now taking a slow walk back to Valentine where my horse Midknight is.

In the flat version of the game i would have just run there as fast as possible but in VR it is so immersive that sometimes i just can’t help but take a slow walk through the world.

The next part of this post contained inside the —‘s is my attempt to describe how even a simple slow walk to Valentine is in VR to try to help people get a sense of what it is like:

I’m walking down a dirt road surrounded by forest, birds crowing in my right ear, chirping in my left, the buzz of some flying insect buzzing around my head, crunching footsteps, a steam train chugging along somewhere in the distance & the low music track playing behind it all,

a couple of buffalo & deer running over the hills up ahead, horses coming down the road, guy being taken to jail in a caged wagon by two lawmen, “stay back from the wagon sir, we’re transporting a fugitive” one of them says as they ride on by, i let them be as i’m enjoying my walk,

i notice the bright coloured plants scattered here & there, reds, purples, yellows, whites, i hear a weird moaning sound to my right, i turn & see an American bison up the hill a bit, i get out the binoculars for a better view, lots of muscle on that (animals are much bigger in VR, sense of scale is great), guy rides right in front of my view & says something about me not being right in the head, i give him a polite greeting & compliment him on his nice looking horse, he goes on his way, i continue walking,

i scare a bird out of the long grass just to my left which makes me jump as it takes flight, no music now just the buzzing of insects, the chirping of birds & the crunching of footsteps, i see smoke to the right in the distance, not going there, spot a group of 5 deer having a munch not too far away, 1 of the deer looks me right in the binoculars as i am looking at them with eyes that seem to say ‘what you looking at?’, i continue on-wards,
two guys on horses, one pulls out a rifle & says something as they go by, i resist the urge to shoot him in the face & continue, i come to a crossroad with a wooden sign, i follow the arrow pointing to Valentine, i see a lonely dead looking tree a little past the crossroad, spooky looking,

i spot a berry bush, what could they be, red raspberry, yummy, pick a couple of nearby yarrow too then continue, train track just to the left of the road, rocky hills in the distance, open grassland with some rocky hills to the right, couple of deer watching me for any sign that i’m a threat, they turn & slowly amble away, snowy covered mountains coming into view, path splits with a wooden sign pointing toward Valentine, i obey the sign,

path crosses over the train tracks, man rides by moaning about something, wagon rides by, two guys out front & two guys inside, a beautiful white & a black horse doing the work of pulling them, more traffic now, getting closer to Valentine,

spot a crow on a rock, use binoculars for a good view, cool colour, mix of black & blue, flies off, path crosses back over the tracks, can clearly see Valentine now, hear an owl, check my platinum pocket watch, 16:05, guy on horse says”a whole lotta ugly business here” as he rides past some blood & human body parts,

the blood trail leads down a little slope past a tree to where there is part of a human corpse suspended from beneath the rail bridge, writing on the rocks near the corpse reads “Look on my works”, there is a human head stuck to a wooden pillar of the rail bridge by knife with something in its mouth, i take it out, the head falls to the ground, part of a map, i go back up the slope & continue toward Valentine,

i cross the tracks into Valentine, i can hear a telephone ringing coming from inside the train station, can almost smell the sheep, 2 guys having a smoke say hello as i walk by,
guy leaning against a post says “that queasy feeling you been having is cause there is so many O’Driscols about”, think i’m gonna punch this guy, “i’ve only gotta click my fingers & this town will string you up & call it justice” he says, he walks towards me saying “you want me to set you straight”, he pushes me, i say “look at you, a coward trying to play it tough,” “make yourself scarce” he says, i punch him in the face, knock him down, he gets up “damn it to hell” he whinges as he pushes me again, we trade several blows, i see his face getting bloodier up as i connect with punch after punch, i knock him down, he gets up, he knocks me down, i get up, we continue beating on each other, i land a left hook that knocks him out cold,

getting darker now, i check the time, 20:35, sound of a steam train whistle blowing, a couple of horses hitched & people standing, sitting, walking, chatting as i walk by houses that are lit up with flickering light from their various sources, Keane’s saloon door is open, tempting me to go in for a drink but no! i must be reunited with my Midknight (word of warning, you can become attached to your horse in VR, they are just so fn cool looking),
i turn onto the main street, the newspaper boy still trying to sell his paper at this time, the sheriff standing having a smoke in front of his office, i look further down the road & there she is, my Midknight, i sprint towards her as people come out of the saloon & others try to enter which ends up making one poor fella fall down the stairs & get covered in mud, “damn” he says as he gets up, a drunk guy gets on his horse as he says the place is full of cheats which his mate on another horse agrees with as they ride away, i watch the guy who fell down the stairs walk away & round the corner at the end of the street, walking as if he had defecated in his drawers,

i turn around, & look at my magnificent Midknight, about 2-3 heads higher than me, big beautiful beast, i pat her then go into the saloon for a drink to celebrate, lots of people in here, piano music playing a nice happy fast tune, barman talks about some lowlifes & about someone being pushed, maybe the guy that fell down the stairs, i order a beer & have a swig while looking at the pictures behind the bar,

i finish my beer then head outside & jump on Midknight & hitch her just over the road at the hotel as i need a bath & a room for some sleep, guy behind the desk remembers me from when i saved Karen, doesn’t want trouble, i pay for a bath, walking down the hall to the bath i hear some guy moaning, must be that guy who i walked in on sitting on the toilet when i was here before, poor guys pipes must be clogged,

got some help with my bath from a nice woman, told her i used to share baths with my dog copper, feeling nice & clean, i pay for a room, next door to the guy with the clogged pipes, & i get some sleep.

I’m not a great story teller by any stretch of the imagination but i hope i have managed to give a sense of just how immersive even something as simple as a slow walk back to Valentine can be in VR.

Info about what i’m using to play it: AMD Ryzen 3600 & RX 5700 XT using Oculus Rift S, my graphics settings i put to the highest resolution i can go to which is 1920 x 1080 & put the resolution scale as high as i could go without losing too much fps, TAA on high & TAA sharpness really high on the slide bar, for other settings i just put the main setting on ultra then lowered them one by one till i found my optimal performance + graphics.

    vorpX 21.2.3 has been released.

This is a maintenance release with the below changes and fixes. Note that the config app will still display 21.2.1 as version number since there have been no changes to it. The actual version number is shown in the bottom/left corner of the game window.

    • Fixed: Delayed hooking did not work under some circumstances (e.g. Control).
    • Fixed: Saving shader definitions did not work under some circumstances.
    • Fixed: Some DX9 games (e.g. Call of Juarez) did not work correctly with recently introduced matrix array transforms.
    • Fixed: Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition (and potentially other DX9 games) could get caught in a device reset loop when run fullscreen.
    • Fixed: Dark Souls Remastered (and potentially other DX11 games) could deadlock.
    • Improved: reduced CPU usage while checking for newly launched programs.
    • Improved: DX11 G3D authoring auto projection search can handle nested structs
    • GTA V: script DLL updated.
    • Red Dead Redemption II: hints were not shown on start, script DLL updated.
    • Vampire: Bloodlines: automated settings applied correctly for community patch.
    • Nier: Automata: support for Game Pass Edition added.
    • Dead Island: support for Definitive Edition added.
    • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: DX12 support added (Z3D), for G3D stick to DX11.

    Hello there!
I’m a newcomer to vorpX, but have managed to get it up and running, and have been able to play Dead Space and Aliens: Colonial Marines (via Steam) so far.

Prior to using vorpX on any game, I always try to play it on a monitor first, before applying an vorpX profile to the game.

When trying this approach for Half-Life 2, trying to use vorpX results in a black screen, although audio works just fine.
I do get a couple of messages from vorpX indicating ‘you may have to exit Steam and restart the game’. I tried this and nothing changed: a black screen with working audio.
The other message was something along the lines of ‘vorpX will initialize the game/start up Steam’.

Deleting the game and re-installing it has done nothing to change the situation, but Dead space and A:CM still work fine.

Does anybody have any tips or advice for the situation I am facing?

Not 100% sure what you mean by tweakable, but you can scale it as usual for profiles with a scalable HUD on the image page of the vorpX menu. If you don’t have a HUD scaling option, you may have downloaded the wrong profile from the cloud, the right one is called ‘Dead Island [vorpX]’.

There is an updated profile available in the cloud (‘Dead Island [vorpX]’) that should work with the definitive editions of both Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide.

Make sure to reset the profile to default once after downloading the profile.

To compensate for the low game FOV a fairly low ImageZoom value had to be used, works best with a 16:9 resolution in this case.

The profile defaults to Z3D, which I heavily recommend. G3D is also available, but to make it work I had to set some profile flags that cost even more performance than G3D does normally.

Hello VR enthusiasts and gamers :)

So, of course I would take advantage of Steam sale to buy some new games. And of course I will play them in VR, nothing new here :)

So, Dead Island DE, and also Dead Island Riptide DE, I am hooking both up, vorpX loads them into my Rift-s, Gamepad working, tweaked everything I wanted, FOV is nice and wide now, no Film Grain, no Chromatic Aberation. All should be PERFECT. But, it’s not… no head tracking, when I move my head, the whole frame moves with me, any suggestions? Ralf?

    Cheers,
    VRan

    Menu:

Switch to EdgePeek mode for using menus (mouse wheel click, right thumbstick click). In EdgePeek mode vorpX temporarily switches to a cinema like view and also scales the HUD/menu to full size to circumvent any issues that may potentially arise from scaling it down.

    Zoom/FOV:

The zoom value is set to the fairly low default value on purpose to make sure the game’s field of view matches your headset’s field of view. DO NOT change it unless you have a way to increase the game’s fiels of view, otherwise the image will look zoomed in/warped.

That’s the way to handle FullVR FOV in games that don’t allow to set their FOV high enough to match your actual headset FOV. You can find more information on the matter in the ‘Essential Hints’ guide, either in the vorpX help or here.

However, for RDR2 you might be able to use a mod that enhaces the field of view. Never tried it myself, but you can find detailed instructions here.

For the controller it sounds like your dead zone is too large,

This can be adjusted inside vorpx on the input page/button binding page

Just choose a lower value for the dead zone and see how that feels

The best experiences I had in VR were actually in vorpx.

LOL yes that also applies to me, first time i made use of vorpX´s full-vr feature along with trying other modes as well, was GENERATION ZERO, another game never meant to be played in VR, so funny how i actually enjoy non-vr titles in vorpX more than actual VR-exclusives.

But i gotta still try HL:Alyx coz when that was being released, i already lost my interest in VR, now that i am actually back at it again (thanks to vorpX) i may try it soon….the only problem i got is…

…there are actually thousands of games i wanna play and try in all kinds of modes within vorpX!

NEED to point out – Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is nearly Alyx tier. Its an incredibly made ‘run’ based game that really has alot going on with its mechanics and weapons. Each run into town before the zombies overtake the place is stressful and exciting in just the right way. Youll be working on a primary quest and then getting secondary quests as you explore the game’s areas.

Honestly… I had more fun with Saints and Sinners than Alyx. Alyx just really let me down with the lack of physics based puzzles + the pretty boring weapons for the majority of the playthru. I really hoped theyd use the gravity gloves to have us do insane physics puzzles like gravity gloving a rope down to you, then use the rope to climb or have you use a pulley to prop a door open then shove a barrel under it to get thru, etc.

So much wasted potential in alyx.. its incredible, but they had all the systems there to frankly make something I think would have been superior. Heres hoping Valve expands on Alyx, cause I would love a sequel with some more mechanics regularly showing up. they were all into physics puzzles in Half life 2 and the episodes – now that our HANDS are in the game… they barely had any physics puzzles at all…. ehh, sigh.

Is what it is lol. But a great framework to build on further

Yeah. I was thinking about about the left and right side, and agree I was probably seeing the headset because when zoomed out using edge peak the screen is massive either side.

I have a 3080 strix oc, I managed to get cyberpunk working at 40**x20**, it was quite jittery so I moved it back +50% of 3440×1440. Its super smooth and I even had all raytracing on and dlss set to pref.

Is there no way to make custom profiles? I noticed theres ways to import other profiles in vorpx.
I suppose im just being impatient; I look forward to an updated profile. Im going to velcro a smaller cover onto my headset which will probably stop me from seeing the gap anyway.

Thanks for your hard work, it really looks great in the headset, Im blown away and thinking about restarting the whole game again to play like this once Im done tweaking the settings. The 3d looks great to me, even though its not g3d…Ive not used vorpx for a year or so until recently and do notice theres a lot that has been updated.

Another thing I noticed that with the head tracking on small movements would cause small amounts of jitter and also my headset would shift a little as I moved my head so I turned it off in this game and used the mouse and keyboard this helped also to keep my eyes deadon in the sweet-spot.
