Far Cry New Dawn (G3D)

Like the Experimental G3D profile I did for Far Cry 5, this one too is still work-in-progress experimental with some lighting and terrain artifacts remaining. It’s not the prettiest, but it is functional for anyone wanting to try it.

I used a Viewmodel FOV Mod this time to make for a better FullVR view, I only wish it applied to driving vehicles as well.

Get the mod from nexus here, choose the FOV 90 one, and follow the installation instructions on the description page.

– install the Viewmodel FOV 90 mod
– use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440, 3072×1728 good for Reverb)
– set FOV to max 120 in advanced video settings
– set all graphics to Low, motion blur Off, but TAA and HD textures On
– set reticle to Centered in gameplay settings

*Adjustable HUD
*Edgepeek for better vehicle driving
*Hide all shadows with G3D Shadow Treatment
*Tested on HP Reverb with mouse and keyboard

Im was not trying to be rude, but it was a bit frustrating when I thought a supported game would work out of the box and its 2nd time I have problems with a Far Cry game.. Last time was Blood Dragon.
I can make it kinda work, if I delete the vorpx file from the far cry 4 folder in documents, then go to the game and put it in fullscreen.
When I start the game it hooks just fine, but its very zoomed when I play and I only have a picture in left eye in G3D, if it set in z3d I have picture in both eyes.
So if I turn it back to windowed mode (sometimes the screen turn black if I go to options and change anything), exit the game and enter the game, it seems to work.
But if I die, I have to make these steps again to make it work.
I disabled all overlays I could find (Uplay and Nvidia) and reset the profile multiple times.
I made one more attempt to enter the game in windowed mode, to make you some log files I can send to you.

I finally picked up the retail version during the Ubisoft Spring sale going on now, and can confirm that it still works with vorpX. I’ve been enjoying the stunning visuals in crisp Z3D with my HP Reverb, and must say it gives RDR2’s landscapes a run for its money. Ubisoft are getting quite good at building world environments.

The game also just released it’s Ghost Experience immersive mode, getting rid of all the gear score crap and letting you define your preferences for difficulty and HUD display. Now it’s much more the experience I was hoping for and am now enjoying in vorpX. I’ve uploaded my new Reverb settings to the cloud profile for anyone interested.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint (Z3D)

To hook vorpX, Battleye must be uninstalled and disabled. First set Uplay launch argument in Breakpoint properties:

/belaunch -be

Then uninstall Battleye as described by PCGamingWiki:

1. Navigate to <path-to-game>\BattlEye.
2. Run Uninstall_BattlEye.bat.
3. Open BELauncher.ini.
4. Set SilentInstall to 0.
5. Run the game and turn down any prompt to install BattleEye again.

Recommended Game Settings for this Profile:

As with Wildlands, aspect ratio affects FOV scale. I found that a near 1:1 square ratio gives the best result. 3000×2880 looks great in the Reverb. Create one of the following in your graphics driver panel and select it in game:

– 3000×2880 quality
– 2250×2160 balanced
– 1500×1440 performance

– use standard AA, but must disable Temporal Injection AA
– set Extended FOV to 100 in game
– set Camera Distance to Near/Close (my preference, but Far works also)

*HUD is scalable, but affects scopes and menus
*Use EdgePeek for menus and cutscenes
*Experimental G3D included, but still glitchy and very performance heavy
*Tested on HP Reverb, for Offline solo play only

Yes there is WIP G3D included, but not recommended at this point. Also, if you’d prefer to play in widescreen cinema mode, you’ll need to figure your own resolution, FOV, and image zoom values — as this is geared specifically for an up close and in your face “fullVR” experience, as close to first-person as possible.

I agree that G3D is usually the best rendition but do not underestimate a proper Z3D implementation!

As everyone else, since my early 3D days using Tridef for flatscreens I would always prefer G3D and get a bit bummed out if it didn’t work well or at all.

However, I have noticed that a few z3D (Z-normal mostly) profiles actually look pretty damn good! And not only that, the performance gains, the correct shadow alignment and far-near controls makes Z3D a worthy contender.

The only issue that could be a deal breaker is the ghosting or outlined blur for near plane objects. However this can mitigated but scaling down the main 3D slider.

Every single thing I launch… Desktop viewer quits. They work fine if VorpX attaches normally. I tried making the games windowed, everything. Witcher 3, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4, RDR2, Assassins Creed, Control, Star Wars Fallen Order…

“Small” windowed game like emulators work, even in fullscreen. Is desktop viewer simply not meant for games? Everything else works. Bigscreen works with these games… was hoping to try them in Vx.

Only time will tell. That’s the only answer you will get at this point.

On a side note: IIRC as with so many other games Control’s DX12 performance is slightly worse than DX11. Being able to cook one’s own render stream for developers also means having to keep track of a lot of stuff that prior DX11 kept track of for them, making DX12 a rather double edged sword in many ways and a far cry from being automatically better.

I noticed that on the HP Reverb I had to set ImageZoom in vorpX to ~0.80 to avoid black borders in the bottom of the headset… Both in Far Cry 5 and RDR2

I wanted to add, the reason for my previous post trying to encourage you to keep the program isnt just because it does work when you find the rights settings.. but ive put it thru absurd scearios and the part that always works is vorpx.

I played Dark Souls 3 with a First person cheatengine mod with Geometry3d.

I played Mass Effect Andromeda with a first person mod with vorpx and geometry 3d.

I am currently in a first person mod playthru, with vorpx, in Sekiro.

This program can make games play in a way you never thought possible, coupled with the proper mods and stuff. Sekiro in first person VR is intense and amazing, Mass effect gets a bad rap but man, just gameplay wise in first person with that games insane combat system was an absolute blast.

I didnt mean to sound demeaning toward you in the previous post, i apologize, i just wanted to emphasize what this program CAN DO when you just work with it a little bit.. its totally up to you to ask for a refund, im not sure of those policies and like i said, i have nothing to do with the staff or company or anything, just a user… but this program has changed games i never thought would be fun to return to (like deus ex) or games into entirely new experiences like Sekiro modded out.

If you already got your refund and are done with it, all good.. just wanted you to know, this program has potential for incredible gaming experiences if youre willing to put the time into getting your settings right.. it sucks that the settings arent an easy across the board thing, but, it really just depends on each computer and their setup and preferences for how they want to play… what may seem like too complicated of options right now for you are going to be exactly the options you want once you learn the program a little bit. My best bet would maybe look around youtube for vorpx tutorials to maybe get your feet wet on the fundamental stuff..

but really man.. it made mass effect andromeda not suck. :P hooray for vorpx, they saved the mass effect franchise for me :) lol

You purchased a product that requires some ‘work’ from the user because it is doing something that was simply never intended – turning 2d games into VR experiences. Your computer, resolution, game settings and vorpx settings ALL play into this.

the games you have complained about i have made run very well and enjoyed even on an old card, im using a gtx 780.

I am not the creator of vorpx… but as a long time user, i can tell you that your complaints are 100% rectifieable, by you, if youre willing to put the time in and just fiddle with settings for a few minutes. Its literally impossible to make a perfect profile for every PC and headset – you need to use your game settings and the vorpx in game menu to get the games looking as theyre ‘supposed to’, unless theyre one of the directVR officially scanned games. Crysis not launching is 99% chance a driver issue or something and not vorpx’s fault. If you want to totally refresh your drivers and see if that rectifies your launching problems, there is a program called DDU, google it, itll basically reset all your drivers/directx info and set you up with a ‘fresh’ graphics card and that may fix your crysis problem… i really doubt its related to vorpx unless something else is fundamentally broken in your system

I’ve tried all OpenGL G3D profiles from the list of http://rjkole.com (btw. thank you for the very useful list).
The only profile where I get “real 3D” was the profile of Far Cry. I made a copy of it and assign the sc.exe to it. I’ve also excluded the StarCraft.exe.

Maybe some clever guys of you can tune the profile a bit to get it work with StarCraft 2 better!? ^^
I play with this profile but it has some graphic glitches. For example if you switch to prefer left or right eye you can see all the text, but only on one eye. But it’s better then nothing ;)
You have to try it guys. It looks very cool.

As mentioned here, i decided to fix games on request only in the future. Therefore i have added a game requester to my website.

I own most retail games from before around 2011 and a large number of steam games from before 2019 which i can possibly fix for Vorpx.

The requester works as followed:

– Example: Your game is Called “Far Cry: Primal”
– If you are not shure of the spelling, enter “Far Cry”
– This will list any Far Cry Game that i can fix at the moment
– Make shure your game hasnt been fixed already (inoff.VorpX game list)
– After you find the proper game name, enter it into the form and make your request.
– On the same page you can do a research on current requests as well as games fixing status and other informations
