The default profile is meant to set the fov through game settings, only that it doesn’t seem to be applied anywhere. The -20/+20 adjustments don’t alter anything either. Using the default settings from the profile I can Image Zoom to 0.60 which seems to be where the fov should be (there abouts), but the screen is too far away.

I can’t see cl_fov anywhere in the vorpx modified ‘game.cfg’ file or anywhere else.

    Homefront: The Revolution (G3D)

Feels like an urban Far Cry with vibes of Deus Ex – liberating outposts with a bit of exploratory platforming. World design is nice and the gunplay feels good.

While there are already Z3D cloud profiles, we now have a working G3D profile for Homefront 2. It still has some minor lighting glitches to sort, but all world objects are 3D as expected. I had to disable fog to prevent artifacts, and you may notice some decal/light-source swim due to mild FOV Enhancement. Ignoring that, things can look pretty impressive at times in this CryEngine based title. Nighttime in the rain amongst the search drones is stunning.

The full-body presence and animations do well for immersion. Default weapon model placement felt a bit high, so I’ve raised the vorpX camera to my preference. This changes aiming down sights, so adjust vorpX height modifier if it breaks your weapon of choice.

    – FOV setup open: C:\Users\(user)\Saved Games\homefront2… game.cfg
    edit lines to 80:

    cl_defaultnearfov = 80
    cl_fov = 80

    – 4:3 resolution recommended for Rift (1920×1440)
    – turn off TAA anti aliasing and motion blur
    – set all Shadow related graphics settings to Low

*Reduce vorpX FOV Enhancement if light/decal swim to bothersome
*Adjust vorpX height modifier for preferred aiming
*Scaling down HUD can misalign some UI effects
*Hide HUD elements in game settings
    *Zero key to holster weapon

There’s now an experimental G3D profile on the cloud if you’d like to give it a go. Not perfect yet, but still pretty fun. See here.

This is still somewhat experimental and not yet complete, but is already a good immersive gaming experience. I’m hoping the new tools coming later might iron out the remaining artifacts. There are alternative Z3D profiles available if you prefer.

    Far Cry 5 (G3D)

G3D is working as intended across all world objects. It’s the terrain textures and shadows that do not yet align correctly. To mitigate eyestrain, I’ve reduced terrain textures to their most basic. Works well enough.

I wish FOV in vehicles wasn’t so narrow, but I’ve adjusted EdgePeek to be more suitable for driving. Running around and shooting feel good though.

**You’ll first need a working EAC bypass to hook this game, unfortunately. Please use Offline only.

    – use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440)
    – set FOV to 109 in game’s Advanced Graphics settings
    – set Anti Aliasing and Motion Blur to OFF
    – Low Graphics settings recommended for best performance

    *Use EdgePeek in vehicles
*Some shadow and pixelated artifacts remain
*FOV Enhancement will separate the terrain
    *FullVR/Immersive modes optimized for Rift
    *Cinema mode optimized for Pimax8k

@ Du1g0 : That hint was pure gold! I spent hours with this thing shortly after release without getting anywhere…

Don’t get overly excited yet, but if all goes well I *might* have a working profile later today.

Hahaha. It is always great that credits goes to someone else :-D

By the way Ralf, this line of configuration edit should be the same for another RE Engine title : Devil May Cry 5.
As far as I know, you have to write the line inside the config file (it is not even there in the ini file). But after writing it, it should be fixed.

I will try it with the same RE 2 cloud profile and the change in the ini file.

    Cheers,

That’s not quite as important anymore for modern games as it used to be. Most games these days use low latency mouse input with almost as little latency as memory scanner head tracking. The memory scanner is still quite a bit better for other reasons, but the advantage isn’t as huge with most newer games.

I just picked up shadow warrior and shadow warrior 2. Im playing through the first one so i haven’t tried 2 yet, but the first one I’d say is comparable to Titanfall 2.

Other games worth checking out I’ve played through Far Cry 4 which worked great (some minor FOV issues during certain gameplay circumstances like getting into vehicles or using the grappling hook but still totally playable)

Serious Sam 3: BFE looks near native.

Also, on a side note unrelated to Vorpx, check out Dying Light, the devs themselves enabled VR support but unofficially, you just have to tweak so config settings and its basically native VR. Same with Alien Isolation, and theres a really great DOOM3 VR mod that enables full VR with motion clntrols and everything, but you need the DOOM 3 BFG edition to use the mod if i remember correctly.

Also, check out the new Prey (the old one too for that matter), I just finished that game its fantastic but the vorpx update that added support for it came out like a week after i finished the game so I haven’t tried it in VR yet

Edit: oh yea and Dishonored if you haven’t played that, it and its DLC have really good Vorpx support. No vorpx for the sequel yet so I’ve been holding off on playing it in the hopes it gets support in an update

Thanks again for replying. I just did a little bit of testing. I checked steam and all sync options are turned to off.

Started Far Cry 2 up. When i got in game i was running at 45 fps ( in both headset and game). I hit alt tab and then again to get back in to the game and instantly both fps values went up to 90 and stayed there. So just alt tab is fixing it.
The problem happens every time i start the game so it is a reproducible problem but it also happens randomly while playing which is odd.

Il have to do more testing, perhaps it is games that are run in fullscreen only. I have only recently started getting the problem though which is also odd.

A little warning for anyone eagerly waiting for the additional profiles to be announced: unfortunately a whopping six out of six games that were looked into over the last days (Resident Evil 2, A Plague Tale, Mortal Kombat 11, Far Cry: New Dawn, The Witness, Blood: Fresh Supply) exhibited major issues in G3D mode that will at least require additional programming work to resolve.

Since code changes were out of the question so shortly before release I decided to not include them for now. I’ll see what can be done after the update. Some profiles will at least come as Z3D only later if there is no way to get G3D working well enough.

Great news that VORPX finally supports Pimax 8K (in may case). I just want to point out some configs if Ralph is willing to check it out:
Fixed Foveated Rendering(FFR); support it please, for better performance, Smart Smoothing works perfect with VORPX.
    – Immersive mode; needs more zoom in, right now it looks like cinema mode.
    – Cinema mode needs vertical axis control.
For those who does not know:
    – For better resolutions; config in game (menu settings), leave alone steam VR config.
    – For better FOV; the same, config (ini files if necessary) games settings. Depending of your Pimax view mode (small 130, medium 150 or large 170).

I had done those setting in AC Odyssey, Bioshock 1 & 2, Farcry Primal and it looks fantastic.

    Thanks Ralph.

I just got Blood dragon very cheap from Uplay and wanted to try it in vr.
But no matter how I launch the game, vorpx tries to hook to file called fc3_blooddragon_d3d11_b.exe which is not supported by vorpx.
So I get its trying to run in dx11, so I disabled dx11 in the options, but it still want to launch that file.
Then I tried to make a custom profile based on the default blood dragon profile and added that to it.
It then kinda works, I get the Directvr scan now. But it only scans rotation and not the fov.
And the screen is extremely zoomed in. I have to put it in letterbox 2 and still zoom the screen a bit out to see anything. I then get black background all around the screen and it kills the immersion.

Is that the way it is intended?? Coz I wanted to buy Far Cry 3 & 4, but if I get the same results with those games I skip them.

Nice! Glad to see you’ve got a Pimax running. My 8k finally arrived this weekend so I’ve got a lot of vorpX games testing in the days ahead. Thanks for the tips.

First impression is still not quite the resolution bump I was hoping for (perhaps a slight downgrade coming from a P4k), but the FOV is definitely larger. Yet to see how well first person games will be able to handle this increase, but early tests with Assassins Creed Odyssey (which has virtually limitless fov via ini tweak) has shown me that it can work pretty well.

    A few quick observations:
    – immersive screen could use increased zoom in
    – edge peek could use increased zoom out
    – crystal image off vs on might look better
    – fluid sync seems to halve the framerate to 20 (from 40 which seems is already halved from 80 by Pitool?)
    – getting severe drops from 40 down to 12 for about 20 seconds then it recovers. Happens randomly every 10 mins or so. Pitool running diagnostics? or gfx card dump?

For playing Odyssey, I really like the adjustable cinema screen which allows me to wrap the image around almost the entire fov of the Pimax. I might even prefer the way it looks compared to fullVR. The only problem being no edgepeek feature for dialogue scenes. I think it would be neat if either edgepeek could be added to cinema mode, or immersive screen mode given the increased zoom and curvature controls to match.

In general, vorpX seems to be working fine. No problems with hooking so far, and performance seems to be on par. Glad to see the Pimax may be getting some official support.

Time to test more games :)

All 3 modes have a screen distance/zoom slider that you can adjust in the Delete key menu. You can also disable head tracking entirely on the tracking page.

I just tested an ultra widescreen video in VLC and was just barely able to get the whole screen locked into view using the following:

    Main settings page: FullVR mode
Image settings page: aspect ratio correction = Lettrbox 2, image zoom = 0.40 (lowest possible). While your in there try out the sharpness slider and crystal image to enhance picture quality.
Head Tracking settings page: head tracking = off

If you need to zoom out further still, use edgepeek button (click middle mouse). Edgpeek scale can be adjusted lower in the Display Settings page.

If being able to see HUD elements in the far corners of the screen is your concern, many games have vorpX HUD adjustment sliders to narrow it into view better. Another alternative is use the edgepeek button to temporarily zoom out to see the entire screen (available in fullVR and immersive modes).

Give those a try and let me know if you have further questions.

    Hi
    1. I Manage to play some of the new games that not work in basic vorpx with vorpx desktop like far cry 5 , forza horizon 4 and more .
but when i play those game on virtual desktop of vorpx the frame rate in the headset slow when on screen is fast , there is any way to fixed the low fps?

    2. I try to use the vorpx emulator for Xbox controller to use as head tracking but it don’t work (sometime use mouse emulator as head tracking is disturbed the real Xbox controller )?

    Thank you very much
