    Hi,
I know, the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 has its own VR implementation but it has some limitations. I want to use it in Mixed Qeality mode with my Quest 2 (later Quest 3 if it will work). With the SteamVR App called “Reality Mixer” i am able to use the passthrough Cameras of my Quest to see my Hardware Panels, Joysticks and Knobs. That will bring the Flightsim to a next level. But, while MSFS in VR mode I’m not able to pop out the Flightsim flight displays to a separate monitor (iPad) anymore. I guess ASOBO has disabled this option in VR. This will make the whole project obsolete.
My idea ist to use VorpX to bring the MSFS to VR and while the Sim is not in VR mode the panels should still moveable to my displays.
I have made some tests yesterday but i coul’nt get the combination with Quest2, Virtual Desktop, SteamVR and MSFS to work. I can see the SteamVR home on my headset, start MSFS, a small window appears with an injection message and then an inso that the injection does take too long. I hae some options with alternate injection and install an handler. I’ve tried several cloud profiles and option but couldn’t get it to work.

Is it generally possible to use VorpX with MSFS over SteamVR on my Quest2? How?
    Thx forward

Being a huge space sci-fi fan, I first hated the game for not having the atmospheric transition quality

Ouch… I feel your pain. I’m a lifelong hard sci-fi fan too, and I’ve written a sci-fi thriller novel and just finished a novelette (ping me if you’re interested in reading it). I’m also a huge flight sim fan (I also produce airports for MSFS). So the lack of reentry, atmospheric flight, and sim aspect is a massive disappointment for me, along with no native VR support. Still, the game is amazing.

I’ve determined that I will bring it to the best degree of immersion I possibly can.

    – So the first step was bringing it to VR. I tested the Reshade3D to see that the performance and general VR look would be good enough, then bought VorpX for the true immersive VR and gesture support. I added all gestures to my profile (Roman Design). But that’s just the beginning.

    – I’ve recently built a full motion simulator for flight sims, including custom-built controls: joystick/pendular yoke and hotas/heli collective hybrid controls, throttle quadrant modelled on 737, an array of switch boxes, encoder box, and off-the-shelf pedals. So I mapped all the relevant control axes and buttons to an X360CE gamepad emulator. The game thinks I’m using a gamepad, but I now have proper controls for space flight.

    – Unlike flight sims, there is no position/acceleration data that I can use for driving motors on my motion cockpit. But I pull the data from my joystick and other controls and use that! Because there is no gravity in space – spacecraft position/orientation is not important. And joystick movement pretty much corresponds with thruster acceleration motion cues, so with some formulas, it’s possible to create a very believable motion. I use deltas from throttle changes to jerk the seat forwards/backwards to create a sensation of braking/accelerating as well. It works surprisingly well. I had to tone it down a bit not to get sick from all the space dogfighting.

    – I built two DIY vibration transducers from old car speakers, driven by a separate amp. Again, I have no events to drive the software, but I mirror the game audio to a mixing software that EQs it to hell, leaving only very low frequencies that I feed to transducers – now all the rumble and explosions from the game are felt by my body. In addition to that, I used Voice Attack software to intercept all trigger presses from motion controllers and joysticks and play a “thump” sound to the device that feeds the vibration transducers. That way I feel the recoil of every shot I make. It fires every time the left mouse button is pressed, for example, so some false positives are there when I’m not actually shooting – but it feels very satisfying when I shoot.

    – I created a Voice Attack profile that covers everything available in the game with voice control commands and text-to-speech. I can say “initiate take-off” and it will answer “Crew – prepare for take-off. Ignition. Engines nominal, taking off” etc. while pressing the appropriate button for me. Same for jumps etc. The voice commands cover everything that can’t be fitted to motion controllers, or just more fun to speak out. I can say “sniper rifle” or “quick slot 9” and the weapon is equipped. And so on. I programmed some energy management presets: when I say “battle stations” it will depower the grav drive, set max shields and power weapons. “Maximum lasers” will depower other weapons and set full lasers first, then add other weapons as available. And so on.

    – I’ve also created a complicated .bat file that launches all the necessary software, kills off all the unnecessary processes to free up CPU and GPU, sets CPU affinities to 3D-cache CCD0 cores for the game, and CCD1 cores for everything else, etc.

There are some glitches here and there, due to game bugs and software issues etc. but mostly it works great, incredibly increasing the immersion! I’m going to make a video about the whole setup soon.

Now all I wish for is that someone mods in the atmospheric flight and manual landings/takeoffs. The ship can appear at the edge of the generated area and lets you fly and land manually – that would be such a great thing for immersion without changing the game engine in any way. Also it would be nice to decouple aiming from looking, and map the motion controller movement to aiming – that would really be almost full VR. But I’m not sure that is possible.

You must download flawless widescreen . This program allow you that set any fov. Viewmodel , ship , world

Looks like it does exactly the same as the mod I mentioned does. But I suspect that the mod also resets it after a dialog etc. Anyway, why use extra software when there’s a mod?

I downloaded the game a week ago but haven’t opened it yet, waiting on full vr

I’m also eagerly waiting for an official mod, but you can try my profile, based on Alpha v2 – it’s pretty playable. Only disable the gamepad override, I think it works better that way for the ships. Also, if you are using joystick like I am, program the emulator for cross-controls: so joystick controls proper roll and pitch – they are on separate thumbstick on the gamepad, and pitch should be reversed (in-game menu option or inside emulator). And throttle and yaw should be programmed on proper axes too. That way ship combat is much better than when joystick emulates gamepad normally.

Official profile might have lower latency, and other nice-to-haves, but it’s quite well and playable as it is, full VR with gestures, so the beginning is slow and long anyway, and it’s really not bad. BTW not sure what people were complaining about – slow beginning, boring game and all. It’s basically exactly like Fallout/Skyrim in space with very nice graphics and cool hard sci-fi aesthetics. It plays exactly like that. All the clunkyness is the same as with the older Bethesda games. But nobody does a better job in this gameplay style, which is my favored. I only wish there would be native VR support, atmospheric flight, manual landings and docking and generally more believable space simulator dynamics. And of course less loading screens – game could check if there is enough RAM/VRAM available and preload the next zone in the background…

I’m just trying to get it to function. Right now the motion and video makes it unplayable, I know it works, I’ve seen others speak glowingly about it and I’ve seen video. But for me personally, I cannot:
1). Move my head with the right joystick or the view gets all inverted like a flight simulator. Plus I see the body stationary but I can “detach” my head from it looking around.
2). The Zoom in of the view is horrible, worst looking video of any game I have. It’s like 360×360 zoomed in, blocky and blurry.
3). You can not get back to the Cyberpunk menu once the game starts…there is no “esc” button to get back to that screen
4). And as I mentioned, it totally freezes after 15-20 min. I see the hourglass spinning and everything, need to go back to my system and force quit Cyberpunk.

The info given is confusing, they mention fixing the resolution, but neglect telling you where to fix it, in the vorpX menu or the Cyberpunk menu? They say “Don’t mess with the FOV” but in the sticky post they say “you must fix the FOV”…talk about mixed messages. I get it, the stand alone is free, so there is little interest in supporting it. But I believe this forum is for the Purchased version as well…and I’m see even more issues there. What’s frustrating is it obviously can work, but they just give you the tools without any instruction, so you spend days with trial and error.

I don’t understand why there is a standalone version without any form of direction. It would make this whole process of getting it to work so much easier instead of this back and forth with unanswered questions. I’ve been posting questions for a week and getting zero response. The questions that are answered are never updated. I figured you were going down the same path so thought I’d chime in. No way in hell am I buying a product without any support though, that’s just a waste of %40.

It’s turned into an exercise of getting just to work. THAT’S the real game.

    Greetings 3D fans,

I am thinking about buying VorpX for Doom2016 and Dishonored 2!
I´m slooooooowly running out of VR games because there is not much in true AAA quality after Half-Life Alyx and Moss, only indie-stuff and 2 hour games, that´s why I want regular AAA games in VR.
Just like Alien Isolation with that Mother-Mod, wow one of the BEST games for VR out there!

But VR has one significant flaw, everything is way too small and not life-like sized, and that´s why all games need to have the SteamVR world slider set to 120% to have the world around me in authentic life-like size.
Otherwise VR would look like a completely off and strange dwarfen world with ridiculous 140cm dwarfs as NPC´s standing around, chairs and tables look like made for elementary school children, and in general everything is only half the size it should be in VR when playing without the SteamVR world slider (which is the most legendary and important option ever implemented in any program!)

The world scaling option in SteamVR solves this problem diving into some ridiculous dwarven world whenever putting on the headset, for good!

Everything looks great now thanks to SteamVR world scaling. Even the cockpits in Flight Simulator 2020 needs slight scaling correction, the Fenix Airbus has a perfect life-like size in 110%, and the DCS jetfighters look great at 115-122% world size scaling.
Alien Isolation needs SteamVR world scale adjustment of 125% otherwise small children´s hands are holding the flamethrower.
You see how important size scaling is for VR? It is the main difference between being fully immersed, or being in a strange dwarven world where nothing has the right size and scale.

So to get to the point, it is not possible for me to enjoy VR without world scaling option because only having the correct size of objects gives immersion.

X-Plane for example has no world scale slider in VR, that´s why the cockpit chairs have the size for elementary school children, ridiculous and absolute impossible to immerse myself in such a cockpit.

You see, not graphics but seeing objects in the the right proper world-like size makes a game a masterpiece or a no-go in VR. :)

    My question is:
Has VorpX a world size slider option for games like Doom2016, Dishonored 2, (and I would also love to play Outlast and Soma if possible)?
Without world scaling the immersion and sense of size and height is so off that a VR gane is not enjoyable.
I need to know if I can adjust the size of the 3D world when using VorpX for a game before buying it :)

Kinda sounds like your playing in Z3D mode. I’ve seen a few cases where Z3D alignment is off center as you describe, sometimes upside down. For that I just search for alternative Z3D profiles that work better.

I don’t have Sleeping Dogs, but for most dx11 games I first try profile copies of The Hunter Call of the Wild, Unity 5 base, and Flight Simulator X – which often gives Z3D. G3D would take more work.

I’ve noticed one case where dlss can cause this issue, and a couple others where custom or odd resolutions are used. Fullscreen vs windowed as well as different anti aliasing modes can occasionally affect Z3D also. Most of the time it won’t matter, but some games need specific settings.

surely the quest 2. has the best value for money, best tracking, complete compatibility, wireless, possibility to have all the games of all the stores.
The hp g2 has a slightly higher resolution. evaluate the hp only if you are interested in driving and flight simulators and if you have a pc with at least one rtx 3080.

I just installed VorpX to play games like HALO on my game computer, after some fidling around I got vorpx working for me, so far so good. But I noticed that after I installed Vorpx and included Microsoft flight simulator in the exclusion list. I can still fly msfs2020 but after a while (and landed somewhere) I suffer from a CTD. I have tried several flights, every time the same effect. after I remove VorpX the CTD’s a gone. does anybody have the same problem or know how to solve this? Thanks. PS I use HP equipment for my computer and VR.

uhm, there is no question in my post. Just reporting what doesn’t yet work.

I know it just released, but please put it on your priorities Ralf, this is one of the most played games today. There are currently 23000 playing on steam. Its more then 4x the amount of playing Flight Simulator which is game of the year.

you could try using freePIE (Programmable Input Emulator) to take the gyroscope data from your vr controllers or even your phone and convert it to a mouse movement output (I have not tried this) . Although the movement of your gun will be restricted to 3DOF.

Additionally you follow this guide here( https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-use-opentrack-and-steamvr-to-use-your-vr-headset-as-a-headtracking-device-and-screen/123263) to enable 6DOF headtracking
Also you can set up vorpx to hit the crouch key when crouching irl.

I only know of Minecraft bedrock and Microsoft Flight Simulator (which also has 30 to 90 motion reprojection for WMR), so there are not much. But if they already fixed most bugs regarding the implementation of OpenXR, then I think it is plausible to expect VorpX’s OpenXR implementation would work as expected, but I don’t know if two games are enough to test an entire api.

Before the update I had my latest addiction (Flight Simulator 2020) performing like butter. After the update (which now includes its own profile for FS 2020 known as “flightsimulator.exe”), I’m getting the stutters. :-(

Is there a way to return to the previous version or to remove the new “flightsimulator.exe” profile that suddenly exists?

Hoping to get this sorted before vacation…

    Thanks,
    jaz

I tried running the game three times, changing a few things, TrackIR emulation works perfectly but I don’t get any 3D.

    It’s the Steam version.

How did you get fs2020 working? I have a quest2 and the latest driver 21.1.0.2 from yesterday. Looks like fs2020 is named “flightsimulator.exe” in the list. Can you give some hints or make a short youtube video?
