After every time i use vorpx to play gta \ battlefield \ left4dead etc. al my games from oculusd developers crashes ( cyberspace, UE4rollercoaster) To fix this problem i need to shut down vorpx . Including oculus games in vorpx doesn’t help. Sorry for my terrifying english
Then your immediate problem isn’t vorpX related, as Dinousaur Island doesn’t use vorpX. Got to get the non-vorpX stuff working before you proceed to GTA5 in VR…
Let’s forget about vorpX for now (no need to uninstall, just don’t run it), and just get the Dinosaur demo working.
Can you uninstall the Oculus Runtime, but before you restart would you delete the Program Files directory for Oculus also (might be in Program Files x86 – can’t remember). Restart and reinstall. Restart again. Try Dinosaur!
I’ll assume you’ve got a decent graphics card and are running latest drivers. If it’s nVidia then make sure you haven’t installed any software other than the core driver and PhysX (don’t install GeForce Experience, 3D Vision etc).
Personally, I’d cut my losses and reinstall Windows. Whatever is causing the problem with Oculus-enabled applications isn’t going to be easy to isolate. Windows 10 is proving stable, so maybe take the plunge and upgrade (if you can…).
This has been a bit frustrating.
I’ve only recently gotten VorpX to update and I’ve updated to 0.8 Runtime (the lack of extended desktop mode annoys me), but to the point. No games work.
The one’s I have tried specifically are GTA V and Fallout 4. But even games like Space Engineers doesn’t work, I get a black screen, headtracking light and the sounds of the menu in the background. GTA V and Fallout 4 crash immediately upon opening.
I verified my GTA V game files to have all of my OpenIV mods removed and still to no avail.
Here are things I’ve tried:
Reinstalling Oculus Runtime
Reinstalling VorpX
Verifying game cache
Removing ALL mods/ENB/ReShade/SweetFX files
Disabling AV/Uninstalling AV
Restarting PC after every update
Making sure Windows Update is up to date
Running the bare minimum processes – no media player, Chrome etc. basically just background tasks, the game, oculusconfig and VorpX
Sometimes game’s do start up and I’ll get to the intro, where it’ll be sound for about 3 seconds, then it crashes and says it’s stopped responding. That’s it.
If anyone has had similar problems and knows the workaround I would love to hear it, because I’m sitting on a $600 paperweight at this point.
Hey forum,
I sent an email to VorpX support, but yet to hear a reply. Just wondering if anyone has had issues updating VorpX to 0.9.1, the bar completes to 100% 33.90/33.90, but instantly freezes and says it’s stopped responding.
I’ve tried uninstalling the program, then using the webinstaller but now I don’t even have the program on my PC, tried restarting PC, running as admin, running with OculusConfigUtil running and without, still nothing.
Really annoying because I want to try out the GTA V headtracking mod.
Any help is appreciated.
Struggling to resolve a Y-axis problem. Hope you can help.
With the DK2 and VorpX I like have the game-world view go UP when I pitch my head BACK (like any sane person).
I play with an XBox360 controller, normally with y-axis inverted in the in-game settings so that the game-world view goes UP when the right stick is pulled DOWN (like any sane person).
Many games allow both inputs to behave together perfectly (Portal2, for instance), but for some titles (GTA5, Fallout4) I can either have :
(1) 360 right-stick DOWN -> view UP
Head-pitch BACK -> view DOWN
(2) 360 right-stick DOWN -> view DOWN
Head-pitch BACK -> view UP
But I can’t get right-stick DOWN and head-pitch BACK to both map to game-world view UP.
I’ve tried combinations with the VorpX settings (overriding Xbox controller, HT as gamepad, inverting HT y-axis, etc) and in-game y-axis invert settings, but no joy.
Am I missing an obvious solution?
“As far as I’m concerned Z3D will still be the better option in this case due to the almost twice as high framerate.”
Raf any way to get in touch with that GTA modder that got Pseudo positional tracking working in GTA? would help with Z3D (which I have to admit, once you get FOV fixed with in game commands, is pretty nice in Fallout 4)
Goodmorning,
I know that exist other topic about this problem but I created a new one in order to try to solve and clearly talk about this.
Firstly I noticed that something was wrong with GtaV but I don’t care.
The real problem started when I buy Amnesia 2.. after changing all possible resolution or tweaks I tried to (ingame with oculus) close one eye for time and.. WOW! The most incredible thing: with right eye I was able to see left side of game’s start screen and with the other eye (left) the right side of course.
I started to pray after this. It’s very sad situation.
What can I try?
I have a script that allows me to use the Playstation Move Navigation Controller with GTA 4. I use it to get analog control for driving. I have left analog trigger mapped to the L2 button on the Move Navigation controller. While pressing the button, i lose headtracking. The mouse works, but headtracking is gone. I’m using the Oculus Rift Dk2, Windows 10, Runtime 8.0 and VorpX 0.9. Is there any way to fix this issue?
Could you guys please check whether you have the below settings on the input page of the vorpX ingame menu?
Also make sure no external gamepad tools are active. Xpadder, X360CE, Pinnacle Profiler or similar tools.
Override Xbox Controller: Partial
Override Left Thumbstick: ON
Override Right Thumbstick: ON
Override Buttons/Trigger: OFF
These are the default settings for GTA V and with them only the button actions mapped in the GTA V options are supposed to be executed.
If you still get the double actions with the above settings and no external tool in use, please report back here. Maybe there is a glitch in the rewritten gamepad handling then.
I tried all sorts of things too and its still there. Something with how GTAV works with the 360 pad + mouse/keyboard makes it do those 2 weird things no matter what. I even tried a non 360 controller mapped to direct input and somehow gta still saw a 360 pad and made it act odd in game. I switch to fist in the car so when I back up he breaks out the window to flip the bird lol he just get real pissed when backing up I guess ;)
Direct driver business is what Oculus needs. It’s the extended mode that Oculus needs to lose, hence 0.7 and above.
My vorpx wasn’t detecting Battlefield 4 or GTA V. Turns out my comodo internet security was killing the vorpx control process needed for 64 bit games. The vorpx control (32) was unaffected. The only way to get the 64 bit vorpx control back was to completely uninstall comodo. Vorpx now works uninhibited.
Switched to a different free firewall: Privatefirewall 0.7
I use runtime 0.7 with vorpx .9
Hi all :)
Is there a way to keep head tracking ON but NOT have it effect your steering when driving? It has taken me AGES to get vorpx, DK2 & GTA 5 working as I want it but cant get past the final phase of the car/bike etc ‘auto steering’ when i move my head! If I turn head tracking off the its like I am not ‘in’ the game but am sitting a few rowes back at the cinema and can see the edges of the ‘movie screen’ instead :(
I just want to be ‘in’ the darn game and control the car with my 360 controller NOT my head!!!
Any advice plz? Thank you :)
I am still, together with a few other users, suffering from VorpX control 64.dat crashing on every startup. We tried literally everything and it won’t work.
Are there any plans at all to combine the 32 and 64 bit handling or anything that might affect/resolve this bug? Every new version I start up vorpx, hoping to not be greeted by the crash dialog, but it’s there every time.
The game I was most looking forward to, GTA V, has not been working in vorpx ever due to being 64 only.
@ Cylon : Occasional jerkiness: check your framerate with [ALT][F]. There are two values now. Game FPS and Direct Mode FPS. The Direct Mode FPS have to stay at 75fps at all times or you get judder. Game FPS should at least be half the headset refresh rate (~40 fps for the DK2), better 60, and ideally 75, of course.
The easiest way to achieve this is obviously lowering graphics settings, but you can also lower the game resolution now, as vorpX doesn’t have to run at the headset resolution anymore. You can even choose 4:3 resolutions now, which can help in some cases as less stuff is drawn that is thrown away later. And if you wish, you can even experiment with custom square resolutions which can be created in the nVidia control panel.
Another new and particularly easy way to optimize direct mode performance in demanding games is syncing the game framerate to exactly half the headset refresh rate. This can be done on the display page of the ingame menu, setting is called Direct Mode Framerate Sync.
Thanks for the suggestion Ralf – sadly it has no effect on the odd jerk I experience.
I double checked both The Direct Mode FPS and Game FPS. Direct Mode FPS is at a solid 75FPS, it never dips. Game mode goes from around 66FPS to the full 75FPS depending on what I’m looking at. The odd thing about the jerk is that it happens in areas where I get a full 75FPS on both Direct Mode and Game FPS…
Setting Direct Mode Framerate Sync to ‘Half’ causes the games to become a blurry mess. I only get nice smooth game play with it set on full.
I also tried the custom aspect ratio settings after you mentioned it and reading about the 8:9 ratios on Reddit, its a nice performance boosting tip and very nice new feature. Sadly it does not help with the odd jerk I get.
What I do not like is that the jerk happens in all games across the board, even ones that achieve 75 FPS at all times. It’s not the stuttering we experience with low FPS, its an actual jerk, like the game freezes for a millisecond, in GTA V for example everything appears to stop for that very brief amount of time, including the passing traffic. As I said in my previous post, its almost like everything is playing catch up every few frames or so.
Sounds good. I’ve just looked up a youtube video of vorpx 0.9 with GTA V. He’s playing the game in virtual cinema mode. That wouldn’t suit me at all. Virtual cinema great for watching movies though. Seems there are issues at the moment with GTA V and vorpx .9? I mean if u want to run it directly in stereoscopic 3d. It’s not too much of an issue since I don’t actually own GTA V yet but since it’s on the list of compatible games one would reasonably expect it to work in full 3d. I must say I have no interest in playing any games in 2d with Oculus. I know some people are because I’ve read comments here and there. I have zero interest if it’s not in stereoscopic 3d on Oculus.
