I have had quite decent experience with program called fsxrift (see https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=752&start=60#p52904 ) and another free 3d injector. I was looking forward to using vorpx for superior experience, however I am having some small problems:
– built-in headtracking using mouse and shift-O mouselook mode is just crazy, can’t make it behave in any reasonable way (probably mouselook is just not the way to do it)
– when trying to use fsxrift, I get error that oculus headtracker is already in use, even if I disable headtracking in Vorpx in-game options.
– when I start fsxrift before FSX, then I get pop-up from vorpx, complaining about not being able to access headtracker (naturally). When I start the mission (headtracking should still be disabled), game just crashes.
The looks are much better in VorpX, so if this little crash would get fixed, I would be very happy. Also it would make the rest of the game much more usable with rift (with edge peek and mouse usage), and it would solve the mouse cursor hugeness issue, as you could just move the mouse away from the central area of the vision.
Of course, it would be even better, if VorpX would implement SimConnect code to move around the view in the cockpit (I don’t think there’s much code to it), but I can understand if Ralf feels reluctant adding specific code to the driver to communicate with just one game.
I have got the same problem, the icon shows up and closes immediately. No entrys in the system event log regarding to.
Win8 (not 8.1)
Another question: I will receive a new graphics card at monday i have to contact the support to get a new license, right?
Hey Ralf, thanks for all that info ! Yer didnt think it possible, was getting my hopes up really haha Im fine with the way its implemented now anyways since its done for games that dont even support headtracking in the first place.
Really loving this driver you have made and am glad I purchased it, keep up the good work !
Oh and while im here, could you please add in official support for Metro Last Light if possible, it starts up unofficially supported now but when I try to load my save it crashes. 3D for that game would be amazing to! Would be very appreciated.
Cheers, Brennan.
Hey all,
I recieved my oculus rift yesterday and proceeded to use the steps to get it working for skyrim on
This morning I was able to register my vorpx and get it to show up on my task bar. After reading much into the forums I removed my d3d9.dll and ive even removed other files that were the result from yesterdays results from that website.
Once I did this i get nothing when i boot up skyrim, just a black screen. after replacing those dll’s I can boot up like I did and mess around with the oculus but thats it. i do not get the vorpx control or in game menu when i press del
any help or insight would be much appreciated. this has been getting frusterating and almost regretting paying for vorpx if i cant get this to work.
Thanks
Yeah Ralph I have an important question. Can I get a Gatekeeper forum title to your keymaster one just because of the important fact I appreciate Ghostbusters, even if I am no Rick Maranis and that’s probably not why you gave yourself that title :). Sorry I’m bored at work, Thanks.
I added both files but it had no effect, always get a message that there is a problem with the license.
Hey
Today i wanted to try the VorpX, but sadly it doesn’t work. I start the control panel as stated in the help file. After configuring though nothing happens. I press “apply”, nothing. I press “apply & close”, nothing. Games are still normal and i don’t even get the vorpx tray icon!
The oculus is recognized, non-vorpx stuff works properly, my virus scanner is deactivated, but nothing. To me it sounds like a DLL is missing or makes problems. Thats what my install dir looks like:

Good to know :-). It’s really tricky to get these values right in VR – much easier with a screen surface as reference ;-). In VR it’s much more about proportions feeling right.
I think Skyrim really shines with Vorpx btw. The EdgePeak is essential to play the game, with all of Skyrim’s different menues and text integrations into the hud/screen. Only gripe is shadow – strange thing is that even without HelixMod since patch 1.6 for Skyrim shadows work in stereo 3d. Wonder what’s causing the the complications for VR with Oculus (all other solutions like Vireio have that same problem). Thought it was related to the roll functionality, but I guess it roots deeper…
Try unplugging and reconnecting the rift usb cable. I need to do this every time I reboot to get head tracking to work (even in the Tuscany demo).
So one thing that Tridef does is allows you to increase both Tridef’s FOV and force the game’s FOV as high as you want, in addition to scaling the world up and down to any scale you want (essentially moving the eye distance closer or farther apart, I’m assuming). This is great because since most games aren’t officially supported, if they happen to work at all, I can get the 3D effect and scale to be nearly perfect every time since I have full control over these settings (or even make a miniature feeling world which is even cooler).
Is there any plan to allow us to scale these parameters to the extremes when necessary? I noticed you can increase the in game FOV a bit through VorpX, but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference, and it seems to cause a weird distortion.
If there is no plan, then that would be a really great feature to have!
The tracker is always initialized, regardless whether its input is used or not. This might change in a future version to enhance interoperability with Opentrack/Freetrack, but isn’t 100% decided yet because of possible unwanted side effects.
I’ve heard from several people that they where able use various racing titles with Opentrack/Freetrack the way you tried, not sure though whether there currently is a workaround for FSX.
You can get normal Rift headtracking by using FSX’s freelook mode, which is activated with [SHIFT]O per default (might be different for your setup though).
Hope that hepls.
I only used this twice and now when I try to start it I just get the spinning timer. The program no longer loads I have updated my avast and will see if it is that. Even if it is avast this program needs fixing because I’ll be damned if I am going to keep my virus program switched off. I will have to uninstall Avast just to see if it is that because Avast stays on and you are unable to exit it. Any advice on this??????
Hi 3DRat,
No promises regarding stereo support, but I’ll look into it, can’t hurt to have one or two fighting games supported. Getting correct head tracking in a game like this is not very likely, unless it supports looking around with the mouse or the gamepad, which I don’t think is the case.
Although theoretically it is possible to rotate the camera even without mouse look, in almost all games this introduces heavy clipping issues, so it’s not a viable option in practice.
Even though Need for Speed Most Wanted (2012) is on the supported games list, I get an error at launch: “vorpx error: the selected rendering api is not supported”.
Other games typically work fine.
Any solution for this?
I installed via steam and also have this issue. There were 2 games I wanted to play on vorpx: bioshock infinite & portal 2. They both have this same issue. It is a beta so I’m sure it’ll get resolved eventually. I tried portal but that was nasty so I’ll just wait…
